I've had the pleasure of seeing many of these bikes and the collection is exceptional. Greg's also pretty good on the throttle as well. It's a pity the track at Harrisville is gone. It was the perfect place to let those bikes loose. Good luck with the sale Greg
the ol man bought a brand new YZ400 1976 in Melbourne off the floor and it was yellow with two big brass domes on top off the forks ,he started it up scared the hell out off him and parked it ,stayed parked till 1995 ,he told us it had maybe 4 hours ride time ,sold in Trading Post for 200 dollars
Never ever seen a 1981 Honda cr250 in the flesh and he has two original looking ones sitting there ! I have an engine for one for sale on facebook , came from a kart.
From the first time I was aware of the existence of the TT500 C , I made up my mind that I was gonna get one when I left school and got a job , so in 1980 at age 16 I got hold of a 1978 yellow TT500 E ( it had to be yellow for me) .I just rode it on the streets of Dunedin NZ , ( a little bit of dirt use) it was a good handler on the road , even with knobby tyres .I really wish I'd never sold it .
I remember in about 1977 seeing a guy getting around town on what seemed to be a '76 TT500 C model , with the low exhaust pipe , but it was all yellow, instead of White with red and black. It wasn't a D or E model. Anyone else seen one like that?
@@barrycuda3769 Dave at Obsolete Motorcycle Parts at Dubbo has original Yamaha "500 Single" sidecover stickers for $5 each When I got the bike about ten years ago it came with two spare original stickers and I got a pair of reproduction "500 Single" decals from a fella in Tasmania and I recently got five more originals from Dave I have plenty 🤗
@@Tommo47NZ Oh cool , I'm from Dunedin, and I remember Trevor King , in particular in 1980 or 1981 he was riding a TT250 at Christie's Gully Ian Brown memorial motocross, I cant remember if I was there, but the event was on TV , probably the following Sunday. Was Greg a Dunedin rider as well?
@@Tommo47NZ I know it sounds a bit odd him riding a TT250 in a motocross, but I have a good memory, and I'd almost bet it was improved power and suspension wise . I remember him having a modified TT 350 in about 1984 ish . Of course , I know that 2 strokes would have been more usual for him .
I live in Phoenix 🏜Arizona in the United States and I would love to find a nice 1986 Honda CR 250 just like Rick Johnson rode when he was a champion back in the 80's. Yep! I almost started to have too many bikes. Not old either. Once the fuel sits and the seals dry out you are up for more money just to get them running again. Not worth keeping any more than 3 in my opinion. Start them atleast every 3 weeks if your not riding them.
Awesome! The fact that the presenter knew his stuff makes this even better.
He defs wanted to let people know he knew his stuff.
I thought the presenter was Ange Postecoglou.

Heaven for our generation! Bury me here after just one more ride please. Thank you .
What an amazing collection. I am in Nova Scotia, it would be a joy to be able to work with someone like you to keep the vintage bikes alive.
Thank you for tour of your bikes
I've been trying to buy a bike off him for about 3 years. Hopefully Grays might get some sold.

Thank you very much. Really enjoyed this and it brought back a lot of memories.
Great commentary by both men, excellent.
Just great power to that man what a legend. Ohh man a life’s work i thank you mate ☮️
Some beauties there , too many for one bloke 🤣 time to share em around 👍
@jamesogden7457 unfortunately yes , better to sell some & keep a few that are close to your heart & enjoy riding the most.
Wow the power of old motorcycles to restimulate the emotional mind

I didn't notice what it had for an exhaust pipe
Could swear I used to work with this fella as a house painter 20 yr ago 🤔

Greg was a very fast south Island MX rider back in the day .
I`ve often wondered where he disappeared to...
I didn't get his last name , what part of the south island is he from ?
Hi mate. Greg Mitchell is his name. Greg and Dunedin`s Trevor King used to ride Full Floater RM125`s back in the day..

Trev was riding TT`s well after he raced competitively, so I doubt he was riding a trail bike at the Gully .

Awesome collection. A suggestion to the editor: no background track would be better than this sample on loop. It almost made me exit the vid early.
Those 125 Elsinore were wicked fast and plenty of gears.
@kaplancycles an auction coming up in australia though lol
Wow nice

Just wondering did I spot a Montesa 348 cota the middle of the first shed?
This gentleman with a tattered shirt and thongs is the richest person I now know of.
