Had the pleasure of seeing this fabulous show a few weeks ago, 1 of the most hilarious shows I've seen but also very cutting & very " Adult " in the performance.. The cast & creatives were brilliant, after growing up watching Spitting Image it was absolutely incredible live , shame it's only a short run ... hopefully they'll take it on tour nationwide.
Telling from this preview alone, It looks slightly better than the reboot but so did the promos for the reboot. It's hard to compare without seeing the full show yet but from what I've seen so far ( a part from this ), it looks like a live version of the reboot rather that reviving the spirit of the original run of Spitting Image for the most part.
I saw it in brum and it was very funny, some moments didn't work but it's basically a series of sketches so if one bit doesn't work it doesn't last too long.
Puppetry theater still uses Bunraku & similar inspired techniques. Especially in television & film which chroma key. I think what Spitting Image The Musical is trying to do is their version of what Avenue Q / The Lion King Musical did. Especially when the puppeteer's facial expression is similar and visible to how the puppet is feeling through the acting.
Funnily enough, in the very first episode of the original, the closing song featuring Michael Jackson, they used that technique for Michael Jackson dancing to their version of Thriller, puppeteered by Erroll Mannoff. He also did the standing up Bob Dylan talkign about cheese and underpants
To bad Im poor and live in the states. The live performance with the puppeteers in full view is actually some art of its own. I kept laughing because I love Spitting Image comedy but also amazed to see it in action.
Normally you do terrible satire at the leaders expense of your rival nations....not your own. This is why the world laughs at and not with britian. Bringing it on ourselves ffs. It's not even funny, just insulting
Not sure if you ever lived elsewhere. In Brazil we do loads of satires at our leaders expense and we laugh at it - not insulting. Just not your cup of tea.
The puppeteers corpsing makes this 100x better
This musical was hilarious
Still slightly traumatised from the last song of act 1 🙈
Queen is the best part 😂 ❤
I saw this too, loved it, but what was the last song of act 1 again lol
It was loud enough to silence someone easily entertained. This clip wasn't 'hilarious'
Just Brilliant. You can't fault Spitting Image.
Used to be satirical
This is awesome!!!!
I'm sorry, but this musical traumatized me for life!
What happened in that show? Tell me!
@@leonardomaranhao2861 The whole life-sized puppetry was traumatizing. Seeing a 3-foot-tall puppet of Tom Cruise was terrifying!

I'm sure that, had it been sooner, Her Majesty would have quite revelled in this, behind the closed doors of her chambre!!! Of course.

They should take note from Japan and have the people dressed in black to blend into the background better

so accurate
Can someone tell what happens in this show? There’s no story on the Wikipedia and there’s no soundtrack.
The redhead controlling Ian McKellon seemed like the one who was smiling.
Sooooo.... Spitting Image is pro-establishment cringe these days? Was expecting more of a bite to this.
gulp, a wee bit
real comments are getting rarer

Ps.: I did not find that funny either 😂 - at least this song alone did not show the potential of the production (but definitely not insulting)
🤣
Only a chatbot could find insult in poor satire
😅😂😂
