I just changed the rear tire on my 95' VS800, the only difference that i noticed was the axel itself goes in the opposite way with the nut on right side. It was a bit difficult getting the axel to slide all the way through the swing arm during reassembly ..with axel out the swing arm seemed to be flexed and really had to put some weight on the bike and use a rubber mallet for last 1 inch into the swing arm. Since my axel bolt goes from left to right, taking the bottom bolt off the right side shock might have "unflexed" the swing arm and made it easier...but the mallet got it finished eventually..
