- A Tesla Model 3 seemed to lose control and drive itself away from the scene after a Jeep Wrangler hit it head on near Las Vegas. That Jeep driver fled the scene.

Im part of a committee looking into purchasing EVs for the LEO in our county and I can tell you with 100% assurance the FSD components are NOT in the front of the car or anywhere near where the damage is. The Tesla driver was in control and floored it, maybe unconscious or enraged but still... none-the-less, funny story.

The Jeep ppl where smiling before the malfunction. Gas cars have a fuel cut off switch you have to push to reset and restart the engine, how come there is no programming to cut the batt voltage after an impact? Also airbags?
It didn't look like enough of an impact to trigger impact sensors.
Usually it stops working for teslas. Also that for sure wasn’t autopilot.
Tesla, followed by Jeep/Chrysler, have the highest accident rates among all other manufactures. Driver of the Jeep is obviously not paying attention. Tesla vs Chrysler in accidents is no surprise.
The fact nobody is talking about the airbags which FAILED to deploy in BOTH vehicles is shocking.

"Unsure of his actions after the Jeep hit him." Tesla will be able to check the logs and see if he hit the accelerator briefly or if the cars computer did something funky. Either way, it's good to hear no one was hurt.
@user-vp1sc7tt4m He was slowing down when the jeep hit him. Likely he was slowing by easing up on the throttle and regen braking (one pedal driving) after the impact he was confused and forgot about that, and thought he was on the brakes, so pressed harder on the accelerator.

No need to speculate. The position of the accelerator pedal is monitored and logged by 2 sensors. If the driver pressed the pedal, he won't be able to hide it.

I was hit head on while I was in my lane driving straight. The other driver came into my lane hitting me head on. I basically tried to do the same thing. If my car was able to go as far as he did I would have done the exact same thing. I don't know what came over me but I really felt a need to get away. It really sucked and did a lot of damage to me and my car.
Jeep didn't even have a dent and it was on a stock bumper thats actually impressive especially since its a Jeep
Hitting the breaks or turning the wheel will immediately disengage autopilot. It’s hard to believe the Tesla driver didn’t do either of those things after or before the crash.

The video shows the Tesla is the only vehicle that fled the scene and went quite the distance. We have only assumptions that the Tesla driver only went as far away as the video implied and that he immediately returned to the scene. He may have taken enough time to come back that the Jeep assumed, right or wrong, that after fleeing the scene that he wasn't coming back.
