Thanks for the head to head. I was looking at both these TVs, went with the Pioneer prior to watching this video - glad I chose wisely. BTW Best Buy has a black friday sale on the 50 inch Pioneer for $179! 2023 model with HDMI 2.1

I ordered the 50-inch Pioneer from the Best Buy for $241 includes taxes and shipping from BB website. Also received free Amazon echo. Ordered Sat night and expecting Wed via UPS - quick. I'm anxious to get it but I'm thinking about the Samsung 43-in QLed I saw in the BB store. The Qled blew me away. I might exchange the Pioneer for the Qled. I bought a PS5 and I'm waiting on one of these two tv's. Many in this channel have good Pioneer experiences. Hard decision. Your channel is awesome Tech Steve.

Hey Steve great channel! Have you tried the TCL 4 series 43"? It looks like the same tv but the TCL doesn't support HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Which is very confusing to me because I'm pretty sure TCL makes all these TV's, so why did they make their own brand the worst one?

I got the pioneer. i like it a lot. They give it a pretty healthy internal hard drive at over 11gb. And the RAM is about 2GB. So its quite fast. I do like the black levels which is a major reason I bought this exact tv. Being I do use it in dark/lower light's. I've only had it for about a week now. Can't speak for long term yet

It would be awesome if we started getting 256GB SSDs in our tvs. It makes life very much easier if we could store things directly on the TV rather than needing USBs and stuff. My Samsung has just 4GB and the moment the ordinary apps were downloaded, that was it.

    • @Sublimer79
      @Sublimer79 Рік тому +2

@@benoit.b9337 yeah, I was surprised that the cheaper pioneer had 11gb internal space and 2gb. Which is basically comparable to the fire cube which is Amazon's most powerful product. My tv is still working fine zero issues. Yeah, would be nice to have a huge storage and the ability to download easy. I never really tried recording I always stream. But, Yeah, would be nice if the internet crapped out. I do have a old blu-ray/dvd I hardly ever use. And old DvDs I never watch. 😂 One thing I like about my moms sony is I can cast direct from my phone. The fire tv I have to do to the website using the browser to stream. But, sony doesn't have roku channel which sucks. And costs a lot more. But, honestly overall. Probably would have been fine just spending less and getting her a fire tv like this one. The cost difference wasnt with it overall.

Your footage obviously shows the pioneer has better contrast, but when I look it up online, the pioneer is supposed to be only 3000:1 while the amazon omni is over 5000:1.
I thought maybe it's because the Pioneer isn't as bright but all I could find is that it's around 300 nits, while the amazon is above 330 according to rtings
I have a question, did you leave the picture settings as is? Usually the movie preset on TV's is the most accurate but sometimes you even need to adjust that.
Don't know what to think. Maybe I should return the amazon TV I just got for the pioneer since it's $80 cheaper at best buy

I was going to get the Insignia 50" F30 series because it's a low $260 compared to everything else at or above $300 until I read a review on BestBuy that a guy mentioned he thought the Pioneer 50" (the slightly bigger brother to the reviewed model in the video) was a better TV and lo and behold, it was cheaper! For $240 after taxes, this is about the best option to replace our TV in the bedroom. FYI, our Pioneer Plasma 42" finally died on us, 15+ outstanding years. Here's to another 15+ years.

I mean is there a point for choosing 1080p 120 Hz for gaming? The panel native refresh rate is 60 Hz so you are getting nothing out of it. Unless there's something I'm not seeing here.

    • @rcash9131

Yes the panel’s native refresh rate is 4k 60hz, But at 1080p it can push 120hz if enabled in that way. The new Xbox’s and pc’s are able to enable this.

Bought the 50 inch Pioneer Tv. For 250 bucks the picture quality is good. It displays the hd contents really well, but the low picture quality content looks terrible on the tv. If you are watching netflix and other hd streaming apps then buy the tv. If you are watching cable tv dont buy it.

  • @HugoStiglitz88

I actually got the omni tv before seeing this video and was surprised that the pioneer looked better despite having a lower native contrast ratio. I think it's mostly due to the default settings tho
I ended up returning the Amazon and got the pioneer (for $100 cheaper too) in large part due to this video. So thank you for steering me in the right direction!
Once I got it home, I pretty quickly realized it was the right choice. Not only does it have Dolby Vision and DTS X virtual surround but has a lot more picture and sound settings despite them both being fire TVs
Tbh I don't understand why the Amazon would be lacking so many picture settings compared to a much cheaper TV but I'm glad I pulled the trigger and returned it.
I usually go to rtings for tv reviews because they're so in depth but they didn't review the pioneer and also neglected to mention the Amazon tvs huge lack of picture settings

@@TechSteve oh yea that's true. 120 Hz does cut down on input lag significantly. Typically it's half of the displays 60 Hz lag, so at least you can get a great idea of what it would be even measuring the lag at 60 Hz
