My band Fleshtones (not the NYC band, we pre-dated them in SF) opened this show. I am quite sure The Tubes played a much longer set. I remember watching them from backstage as they pushed Fee out onto the stage in a NASA suit he could barely walk in. I don't see that segment here. One thing I remember from our soundcheck in the afternoon was The Tubes had a guy on the sidewalk outside Winterland polishing Prairie's cymbals...such was their attention to detail. This was before the 1st album came out. They may have still been unsigned, I donno... They were doing this extravagent show in their own dime. Personally, I thought that was the best I ever saw them. They were in incredible form with all that 1st album material.
Tubes formed in San Francisco 1972. Ramones formed in Forest Hills, Queens, New York in 1974. Sex Pistols formed in London 1975. I was a punk before you were a punk. (Lou Reed NYC 1964)
What a show
Spooner was the man, He left and the Tubes went down the tubes...

Haha, the collapsing speaker gag is amazing. They should have kept that going.
