Epic episode! My GT4RS is scheduled to enter production 2 weeks from today (9-16). Can’t wait to get it on track, the break-in period is going to require a lot of self-control..
The ultimate Porsche GT bar the hyper Porsche is the 718 GT4 RS with it’s superior midship engine and balance then the intoxicating sound from that engine is the pinnacle of engineering and craftsmanship.
The stuff of wet dreams. I’m jealous but also happy that you two got to enjoy this, you’re two of the best (if not the best) and most genuine automotive journalists out there. Thank You for the content.
Well done and well said. “Food, water, shelter, GT4RS!” “This touches me in all the right places.” Perfect review on road and track! Love the back to back comparisons.
Great video. I have been lucky enough to review almost every GT3 and RS variant including the 992 GT3. All are amazing but my all time favorite to drive is the 997.2 GT3. I wish i had bought a 997 GT3 back in the day when they were “cheap”
I would go for the gt4 rs because of the intake sound and the mid engine. Love that the gt4 rs is a little sports car as well, would be perfect for those canyon Roads
In 3 months it will be here on my driveway. Watching that video made me even more excited. One thing: Perfect car? A manual would still be the top of the cake.
The one without hair's face really lights up in these Porsches. Good video, guys! It looks like you had to be dragged away kicking and screaming from that GT4 RS.
I love that in the edit, you put the contrasting/disagreeing thoughts right next to each other! Paul on the 992: This rides really well! Todd: It's too rough for anything other than a track. You did this on several things, and it really drives home the point of different people having a different experience in a car. This is the best thing about Everyday Driver - you never try to present a consensus, you showcase the different opinions!
And it's pretty rare that they agree with each other too! But yeah, at the end of the day reviews are just opinion based on the reviewer's personal taste.
Great video and commentary as always! Chance, you got some really amazing footage here! Paul, I actually giggled like a school girl at 1:40-1:46 with the engine rev. You're right, never gets old! I'm not even sure how you guys were able to fit all of this into the day considering you were also out on track with us! Very well done!
Thanks! Half of this was shot the day after you guys were taken back to the airport. Ron took us mountain biking around the Ring in between. What an experience that was! And I'm really out of shape...
Thoughts on this video are: 1. Motoring nirvana 2. Paul giggling like a school boy 3. Even Todd having a revelation 4. They actually went and built it! 5. Utterly brilliant videography 6. P & T on top of their game 👏
Thank you for making a video that matters. I remember Motortrend used to be the automotive channel to go too, but y'all and Savagegeese are two of the best automotive UA-cam channels.
Congratulations Paul, you have turned Todd into a Porsche Fanboy! Enjoying you guys, enjoying the drive, and thanks you for taking us along for the ride. Coming soon: Lotus For Sale ?
3rd comment! Podium! I've seen many many videos of races and drive days at Spa. But these are the best pictures/video I've ever seen of Spa in over 50 years! Well done boys! Well done! (Decent weather helped no end!)
Great video, I like the way you both explained the differences to the viewer. Just wished you had a discussion about them at the end. It is impressive that Porsche build the GT3 and the GT4RS in these times, who knows what the future holds with electrification and all. Good for you guys to have the chance to experience them! 👍
Brilliant episode! Thank you very much guys. Loved to see you in my home region - the cayman GT4 RS would be my favourite, no doubt. As long as this is not available at affordable prices i stick to Todd's old love Lotus 🙂 Love to see your car reviews! Thanks
I am so glad they make content like this, but also incredibly jealous. Nobody can get the GT4RS it seems. Would love to see a back to back comparison between all the GT3s… from 996 all the way to 992, similar to the 50 year of Porsche video you guys did, and just see the evolution of the GT3s from the 996.1 to the 992.1… that’ll be proper amazing
Yes you can get the GT4RS as my dealer offered me one but I want the GT3RS instead. The 3RS is the one that nobody can buy unless you have a long good relationship with Porsche. Right now, I daily drive my Turbo S
I have a 2020 718 Spyder. At first I hated the convertible top, however, I am now used to it. I do prefer the power top top in my 987 Boxster S. I love my Porsche. Cheers.
I can't wait to get my GT4 RS. I'm honestly getting giddy thinking about it and how good the reviews have been so I cannot wait to get in it and drive. All I needs to do now is win the lottery and its off to the dealership I go.
That, was a very good video! They build so few of these. Their a premium brand and the price is very high. Could afford a GT4, but can't attain one because I've never owned a Porsche and I won't pay an above sticker premium. I still hope the owners enjoy them. Fantastic cars. If you guys bring one back to the states, I'm going to steal it!
Great comparison. FYI, noticed your suction cup camera mount. If you want to capture the best footage angle I use the RoadSpy RS1 on my Cayman. Way way better than those suction cups.
I’ve driven the Megane RS at an RSRSpa trackday, what a great car for a beginner, I’d say the prices go up fast depending on amount of laps and the type of car. And the excesses are also pretty steep if you are less experienced driving the track that’s definitely a factor.
Epic Vehicles. The GT2 RS Manthey Racing editions not here, is the best of them all, (only in Germany). These are the best street legal race cars money can buy. Thats what they are, Race Cars , designed to be driven around the Nordschleife, & that is were they reign supreme over everything else!
0:33 Is that 40% of all Porsches, or 40% of all 911s/Caymans? I thought the Macan and Cheyenne made up the majority of their sales. Anyway, great work!
I think it's from all 911s. And the math would suggest that, Porsche delivered close to 30k 911s between 2017 and 2019 and a combined of a bit over 10k 991.2 GT3 & GT3 RS during the period.
Great video review, and what a place to do it at the Nurburgring surrounding area and Spa with RSR. Have driven both tracks with RSR in Z4MC, M4, Cayman S 987.2 and 911 C2S 997.1. Amazing experience Without wishing to sound pedantic, at 8:18 you mention that BMW took greatest hits special parts from the M3 for the 1M, but in fact that was for the Z4M coupe (S54 engine, CSL brakes) and not the 1M, which had an engine from the Z4 3.5is. You mention this parts bin greatest hits exactly in your Z4M coupe 'Forgotten Gems' video. Anyway, great video and GT3RS/GT4RS would be my equal choice for Spa and GT4RS for Nurburgring.
I didn't think I was going to like this, but I quite liked American James May. I don't feel like I got quite so much from American Richard Hammond, but surprisingly good content overall. 👍
I may be the only person that owns all three...plus a 992 GT3 Cup car (Plus a Macan S that will be upgraded to the fastest SUV on the Nürburgring, the Cayenne Turbo GT). You can see them all on my channel, and you will see my 992 GT3 RS when it arrives next month.
So grateful for this video and your previous 3 generation Cayman video. Which is the best Cayman for having fun on a canyon or mountain road: GT4RS, 718 GT4, 981 GT4 or Cayman R? I noticed the iron brake rotors on the GT4RS, makes sense since RSR is in the business or racing and replacing PCCB rotors and pads cost $30K. Do you feel the iron rotors on the GT4RS, weighing 37.5 pounds more than PCCB, affected steering feel, acceleration, ride, or braking in any way? Or are the iron rotors just a better value and the GT4RS is already fantastic with the iron rotors?
Wow Spa. Years ago (2014) at a Porsche World Roadshow event I drove a Boxter Spyder back to back with a 911 C2S, after the first turn you could tell the Boxter/Caymans are better handling than 911s. If I ever buy a Porsche sports car it will be a Boxster/Cayman.
Handing isn't 1 dimensional. Yes, the mid-engine platform can carry more speed in the corners, but there is also damping and rear-end stability to consider and this is where the suspension of the 911 is way better than the Cayman platform. Nevermind the front differences, I am talking about the rear. The multilink rear keeps dynamic toe in check much better than a strut does. I have the 2022 GT4 and the rear-end gets easily unsettled when the suspension has to work thru its travel because of the toe change. Have you seen the GT4 RS's Ring video overlayed with the 992 GT3? The GT4 RS moves around A LOT more than the GT3 does.
I still think nothing can beat a 997 gt2...usability, track performance..maybe the exhaust sound is not as exciting, but surely much more easy to live with...and with a proper tune, it becomes something else...
There is no such thing as too much Porsche GT content. Especially when it comes from proper auto journalists
Thank you! We appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
Epic episode! My GT4RS is scheduled to enter production 2 weeks from today (9-16). Can’t wait to get it on track, the break-in period is going to require a lot of self-control..
We are waiting on our gt3 rs , coming 3rd quarter of 2023, it will be break-in , and straight to the nurburgring 😅
Enjoy your gt4 mate !
Enjoy guys!
Here's a suggestion, use the break-in period on your way to a racetrack 😂
Question, what jobs do you guys have to afford these cars? I plan on owning these cars in the future 😅❤
@@thatcopenguy it's a possibility ;)
The ultimate Porsche GT bar the hyper Porsche is the 718 GT4 RS with it’s superior midship engine and balance then the intoxicating sound from that engine is the pinnacle of engineering and craftsmanship.
I was lucky enough to be in this specific GT4RS on track as a passenger. It was the experience of a lifetime; it is a game changer.
No doubt! How you doing btw?
What a beautiful noise it makes! Our in-car audio doesn't do it justice!
You did a great job! Nothing can compare to hearing it in person.
The stuff of wet dreams. I’m jealous but also happy that you two got to enjoy this, you’re two of the best (if not the best) and most genuine automotive journalists out there. Thank You for the content.
This is a huge compliment, thank you! We appreciate you watching and glad you connect with what we do!
I’m very blessed to have two of those beautiful sounding engines, 991.2 Touring and 718 Spyder. Just love the sounds and the third pedal.
Cool, unexpected content. I’ll never own any of these cars but love seeing the engineering and soul they have.
GT4 is my choice, too. What a little mid-engine beast this is.
I would say GTS, so that its more livable.
@@jeffk464 GT4 any day. But I understand you.
Well done and well said. “Food, water, shelter, GT4RS!” “This touches me in all the right places.” Perfect review on road and track! Love the back to back comparisons.
Definitely a goal to own a GT3 one day. I prefer the looks a rawness of the 997.
Same. The 997.2 GT3 or GT3RS 3.8 are the only cars that would get me out of a Cayman GT4. The newest gens are too capable and full of tech.
I'd really love a 997.1 or 996 GT3, but I gotta say the Cayman GT4 RS is the only exception I'd make for not having a manual.
997.2 GT3 RS is peak GT3
997 is my second favorite of 911 generations
Welp. Porsche GT cars through Eau Rouge. Where to you go from here? The speechless nature of some of the commentary speaks huge volumes! 🤩🤩
