That button in the trunk showing people walking away from the hatch is actually a feature. You push the button, finish whatever you're doing in the back, and when you walk away the hatch will close. I presume that's to allow you to push the button, pick up an armload of stuff from the back, and walk away without to set things down to push the close button.
One of the comments I see in longer term reviews is that the interior, although somewhat utilitarian versus some more luxurious competitors, is extremely functional. Seat arrangement is perfect, seats fold flat, extra storage under the floor in the back, tons of bins and cup holders, and as you pointed out, the infotainment system is very intuitive and easy to use. Contrast that with the Acura MDX that gets dinged in every review for the learning curve required to manage that silly touchpad control.

The sidewalk bumpouts are designed to slow down traffic (wide roads feel weird to drive slow on) and make intersections safer with wider and more deliberate turns. They also make the intersections quicker for pedestrians to cross. It’s great road design.

Ben I have to disagree with you a bit on getting a Base Acura MDX over the Pilot Elite. Yes, the Acura might have better materials. You get things like Jewel Eye headlights.
It might ride or handle slightly better. It's more Premium vehicle.
However, it lacks 3rd Row AC Vents the Pilot has.
But to get the features the Pilot Elite has. You would have to get SH-AWD option vs IVTM4 AWD standard on Elite. You have to get the Advance Package on the SH-AWD MDX.
So the Pilot Elite price say $53,000
The MDX with Advance Package is going to cost $63,000.
The only way to get the Ventilated Seats and Muliti View Camera System is to get Elite.
So, the MDX SH-AWD with Advance Package is going to cost $ 10,000 more.
So I would call the Pilot Elite.
The Poor Man's Acura MDX SH-AWD with Advance Package.

I checked both 2023 MDX advance and 2023 Honda Pilot Elite before we purchased the Pilot Elite. The spacious third row and truck space in the Pilot are perfect for family travel. MDX does drive better and is a tiny bit quieter.

Struggled to get through this video as you spoke WAYTOOFASTANDITWASHARDTOUNDERSTANDYOU . Great content, so just a suggestion for future videos. Also, in the comments below, someone mentioned $50k is Lexus territory- it is- but for a much smaller RX (and that would be with no features similar to the Elite) or smaller NX (no third row). This is what top end models cost now.

Multiple reviews say the competition like Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade give you the wow factor interior goodies.

It's a very comfortable and competent SUV. I would skip the elite since it's nothing special and go for the EX-L or touring trim if I had to get a Pilot.

    • @fredmoss4540
      @fredmoss4540 9 місяців тому +8

I'm going for this Elite trim.
The Touring doesn't have some of the features I want. The Touring doesn't Ventilated Seats. The Tourng doesn't have the full Digital drivers display. It doesn't have the 360 cameras. The EX-L doesn't have that and doesn't have 12 Speaker Bose System. Not sure if the Touring has Rear 2nd Row Outboard Heated seats. No Heads up Display in Touring.
The Touring is just missing some features it should have.
Sure you don't need some features but at that price point, the vehicle should have. So Touring and EX-L doesn't have Muliti View Camera System. That's front, back and two sides. Very helpful driving larger vehicle. We have 2007 Honda Ridgeline purchased new. At that time rear back up cameras weren't mandated. Since the top model we got had Navigation it you could add optional Backup Camera.

Base model MDX or even Technology Package lacks a lot of features that Elite has. 360 camera, ventilated seats, rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, air vents in the third row, fog lamps, heated windsheild, touch screen and roof rails. Truecar has a compare application if anyone wants to check it out. I did a compare between MDX sh-awd with tech with Pilot Elite since I am cross shopping both to replace our 2020 sh-awd tech MDX. There is a 10k difference at least as all these features are going to be in Advance Package MDX which starts at 65k MSRP. No argument MDX drives and handles better; however, who is taking these to race tracks? Acura raised prices for the new models for exactly this reason so they can differentiate between their luxury and non luxury brand. Acura also has a better warranty if you keep your cars for longer. You cannot go wrong with either. I just stick with Honda and Acura as they they have the best car seat configurations for folks who have a need to install multiple car seats.

Also features and switchgear was dated. New more ridged platform.
New in- house 10 speed transmission. Upgraded IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD System.
Engine meets Emmisson standards for next 10yrs.

You didn’t show the removal of the middle seat and how versatile that makes this vehicle. You missed that the second And third row reclines.. you missed that the second row can be adjusted forward and backwards for more leg room. How about the tons of cup holders, storage and usb ports. How about the hvac vents in the third row?
You missed the front camera for ease of parking and pulling in or out of a garage. Does it have roof rails? Come on man. If you’re going to review vehicles then you have lots of room to grow here.

On the American brands the grand Cherokee is very unreliable, Durango is ancient, the explorer isn’t impressive even compared to this, maybe the GM ones next gen will be good but it’s GM so it’ll take them 5 years to figure out production issues.

Your General Motors vehicle being built in Mexico? You better check and see where your vehicle came from or assembled. Also where the parts in the vehicle came from.
The Honda Pilot is built in Lincoln, Alabama. General Motors and Ford the only American auto companies they are in many other countries. Your vehicle might be more foreign than a Honda Pilot. Check your vehicles parts and assembly, where design before calling stuff foreign.

@@taniabanes4707 When I went to Honda manufacturing plant in Columbus Ohio area. I think that was 2008 with a large group of Honda vehicle owners.
I saw American workers building those vehicles. I've owned Honda/Acura vehicles 40+yrs. When I was 18yrs old my father died. We had his big gas guzzling Pontiac. My sister had a small Pontiac. This is what learned to drive on.
The quality was not as good as Japanese cars. So my mother said with insurance money set-up for me still being minor I could get new car.Always been a car guy when young. Got my learners permit on 16th birthday. The Pontiac salesman that had sold my father his 3 new vehicles in 56,64,72 and older sister in 77. He asked did I want Pontiac Lemans. I asked him 1980 could he sell me a Honda Prelude. My mother had her name on car but it was mine.
I came back to same salesman in 1990 to by my new Accord. My two cousins had Ford Mustang 5.0. They wernt practical to me. In 94 after paying off that Accord I was one of first to get new redesign 94 Accord. These car always rated high. About 3 weeks before I traded my 90 Accord in for 94. My older separated sister with child purchased a new 93 Dodge Caravan minivan. Guess who did all the legwork for her. So I'm not anti American. I drove it many times.
I needed a larger car for then elderly handicapped parent. I bought a 2000 Acura TL for its better ride quality entry level luxury at time. So American car at that time compared to Lincoln LS, Pontiac Bonneville and Chrysler 300 MThe Acura was Best Bang For The Buck. Sister again seperated from husband. She's driving deceased Great Aunts 10yr old Buick Lesabre it only had 50,000 miles on it when sister got.
She drove it for 7 yrs. Divorced then husband had accident with minivan total.
Sister wanted pickup truck like female cousin with Ford Sport Trac. I did research Honda hadvthis new Ridgeline Pickup Truck bigger than the others with unique features and superior driving capabilities. Expensive but she paid cash from not having car note for years It was designed in America but built in Canada.
It's 17yrs old now 226,000 miles still drives rides great. The Buick got handed to her teenage son. But after a year he needed something to do longer distance to college. We looked for used cars.
Somebody in her religious congregation mother was salesperson at Ford. Sister had me on phone while at Dealership. I told her wanted stability control feature not on many small cars then. Honda Civic was way to expensive with top trim only having this. The 2008 Ford Focus didn't have it. But the new early Focus sedan was just hitting Dealership lots.
We got it for him as surprise. He still has it on its last leg. So I still have my soon to be 24yr old Acura Sedan low 105,000 mileage for its age. But time for me to finally get something new. I love the 2nd Gen Ridgeline but it's long in the tooth for infotainment and some features. Was hoping for same redesign as this Pilot.
Apparently not this year, but had me looking as vehicles are siblings.
Since we already have Gen 1 Ridgeline in family. Why not get redesign newer Pilot in this Elite trim. It has most of the features of Ridgeline truck but updated.
I wanted the IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD System. It's been updated since last Pilot. I wanted ventilated seats and heated Steering Wheel Pilot Elite has it.
It has Multi-View Camera System Elite has it. It has 12 Speaker Bose Audio System. It also has deep well in back for storage of seat. But I would take seat out. So not exactly like Ridgeline in-bed lockable watertight trunk. It can function like that.
