If you try to install the well nuts into an existing hole that's a bit large you can put silicone caulk on it before you insert it. The silicone has a tendency to lubricate the hole BUT if you let it cure over night it will hold the nut securely while you tighten it. It doesn't hurt the seal either.

Has the well nuts ever dried up and failed on you. is they're a fix for that?
I have never had that issue. If they are in a direct harsh enviroment like salt water, it might be an issue or anything very corrosive
