I have purchased so many t6 bits I could not count. I finally bought the WIHA set and it ended me having to buy them. I'm really into this hobby and change pocket clips and this and that. Something that has also helped is I buy screws from knife supply sites and replace the cheap screws that come on some knives. You can get 50 stainless screws for like $2 so it's worth it to me. It used to stress me out having a half striped screw in my $250 knife. Now I just swap it out.

I bought a Böker/Wiha torx compact set because my own research pointed at it as one of the best. It also came within 48h during confinement and I needed it fast to take my ZT 0450CF apart (dried apple juice from slicing one messed up the pivot). So far so good. Thanks for your review.
I just got that Böker Wiha driver set as a present, and it’s fantastic! Although, my old set is some cheap, no-name set that I can’t even remember where I picked it up. I’ve used that cheap set quite a bit over the years, and believe it or not, NONE of the bits have twisted. I have a feeling I may have just gotten lucky though. Even though they haven’t twisted, there is an immediately obvious difference in tolerances between the cheapy bits and the Böker bits. They inspire a ton more confidence that I’m not going to strip out a screw head.
First and only torx set I bought is that Boker Wiha softfinish set. No need for an upgrade or change so far. Works like a charm.
Good set as I mentioned I'm not a fan of the handle but the bits are great
If you strip one out you can touch the tip to a grinder or worksharp belt and freshen it up. Just a tip

I bought the Ifixit Pro Tech Toolkit because it has T2 steel bits, a very high quality weighted driver with spinning tail cap. It is lifetime warranty and it has every torx bit size you can think of plus about 50 other bits used for just about every electronic item in your house. The kit I got comes with extra tools used in taking electronics apart and cost $69.99 but if that is not for you they have the Mako driver set that is only the 64- bit driver set I got in my kit minus the extra electronic repair tools for $34.99. They have a lot of other driver sets and tools. I chose their bit drivers because they have extra length on the actual part that touches the screws so if it rounds off or sheers you can grind it down and still have a working bit.
I'm a tool and die maker and a tool snob......because i work with tools all the time, i always buy the best I can afford
it's not worth the headache and frustration to buy crappy tools that beak and strip out your screw heads
I don't usually comment but I have to speak up. If you are going to buy precision tools check out KC Tools. Great buys when on sale. I purchased the Wiha 75992 set for $28 in 2016. Right now they have small micro bits sets of 10 pieces for $10. As Shabazz and Knife Crazy say get the ifixit micro bit driver. Expensive for tool and shipping $16. but very nice. And as an old thread from 2010 ? from Blade forum stated the best torx are the Wiha individual model 267 screw drivers. Their tool steel bits are covered in hard chrome and go for $55 to $65 for a set of 8. They have one $55 set for $35 now on sale. Not affiliated with KC Tool just a happy customer. Ask them any question as they are very knowledgeable and will steer you to what you need. And Kevin couldn't agree with you more about the tools. I also enjoy your channel.
The first thing I do when I buy a knife is take it apart, clean it, lube it, reassemble, tune it to the way I like it, and finally sharpen it to my liking. I can`t even begin to tell you how many T6 and T8 bits I have destroyed. I stumbled on to your video looking for a solution to this issue. I see what other guys are using on disassembly videos so, i guess I`m going to go with Wiha. Thanks for making this video.
So Uncle Bumblefuk (AVE on youtube) taught me early, buy once cry once. So I have wiha, wera, and pb swiss. Wiha are the best by far. Not only proper stiff, but the broaching is better. The wiha sets seem to fit most torx screws the best (less slop). Get 2 wiha sets and a wiha bit ratchet when you need to secure one side while loosening the other.

I did exactly as you did and ended up with wiha drivers. The actual drivers instead of a bit set and I love them.
Bondhus uses a proprietary tool steel that is super strong. I have a bunch of their Hex T-handles and you can't mushroom them! Their torx bits are great too, but they're 2" long, which will not fit in the handle of my driver, so my go to is the Boker Wiha driver. FYI...Wiha has a special type of torx called Torx Align that is better than the original (no it's not Torx Plus and it'll work with your screws).
All bit driver sets I've found are mostly suitable for use on electronics or other light duty tasks. Everything in the local hardware stores has ended up getting returned after any real use and fear of destroying more bits has kept me from maintaining my knives as often as I would like. I've now seen multiple recommendations for the Wiha set and it's on my shopping list.
I have a Wiha driver where the bits clip to the side. It has served me well.

Excellent informartive vid. I wore out a Faithful Tools torx kit in a matter of weeks (the T6 went first). Have since bought the Boker chubby thing which is much better but, as you say, difficult to handle. Now looking into the Wiha 75992 System and hoping I can get it in the UK...thanks for posting.
the maximum set is s2 steel and can go all that way down to 11 or 12 dollars in store on sale i have 2 kits, by far the best value at that price

I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND USING 1/4” Torx Bits and you’ll NEVER mess one up on a knife… So I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the WIHA TERMINATOR BLUE Ratchet bit set, has everything and case size of altoids for $30!!

I've got the Wiha tool with the handle storage. Comes with 6 bits. It's worked great for me so far. Looks like it's $15 US but I don't think think I paid more than $10 or so a few years ago.

I, like you, have several crappy sets. I often touch up the tips on my bench grinder, removing the chewed up part of the tip. Although, you can only do that so often. At least with the cheap tips, it's the tip that gets ruined and not the screw head that gets stripped.
couple of good points here, I have repaired with grinder before and yeah that works a few times
I recently got the Boker/Wiha driver from Knifecenter for $17, the cheapest place I found. I just checked and they're sold out now, but can be pre-ordered.
Starting to use a heat gun on any T6 . Red loctite is part of the problem! Never know when the screws are basically welded in place!
Had a wiha set and my t6 broke trying to take off a pocket clip. I’m going to try pb Swiss but might just have to get another wiha bit and leave that knife as it is. I’ll see when my Swiss bits arrive.
I bought a little driver at a hardware store a couple years back.. the “teeny turner” it was on the counter a s an impulse item I guess. It’s just a little stubby driver handle with half a dozen or so bits, plus one in it.. a couple flats, a couple small Phillips and t6,t7&t8. Bits. I thought it looked like a solid little tool and it absolutely has been. The bits are surprisingly high quality (I forget the actual brand) but the thing is on Amazon for a couple bucks. Awesome little tool if you just need the standard t6/t8. Bits.
I’ve got a couple other sets but the teeny lives at work and usually covers my needs. I think my only knife it can’t touch is my crk.
I find I never use most bits so I have (OK) sets but just buy very good bits in the size I use a lot.
There's a new(ish) Xiaomi Wiha 24 bit set now which I got for $16. Supposed to be good, S2 steel at 60hrc. Bound to be in the mail by tom. Got frustrated with my iFix bit kit after ruining a torx bit on one of my cheaper Kershaw knives.

Bought a cheap set and stripped some bits and screws. Getting two wiha sets now. Not like the one you have, I'm getting the green one and the driver that comes with the bits
I found this video after my Mastercraft T6 failed over 10 screws. This was an older product from a couple of years ago and had only a one year warranty. The new ones have lifetime warranty but generally mastercraft is not the sturdiest of the brands. So I'm going with a different brand this time once I find out the better bits.
I bought my set from BladeHQ in January for $19.95. I don't agree with you about the handle. I think it is the most comfortable of the 10 sets I tried and allows a good firm grip from which you can generate a good torque for stubborn screws. I also bought the Boker/Wiha Hex Bit set for $19.95. Love both sets.
That's the Wiha set I bought when I figured I was serious.
I've had a small set of Wiha for ages (bicycle). Saw BFIV talk about that yellow set, got a box with a bunch of loose bits, no markings and couldn't even see where to put them. Junk. Just look at the way the bits are -cast- made. Works ok for holding a free-spinning pivot though, otherwise could cause more harm than good. Get a smaller Wiha if on budget, larger if you use other types of bits.
Had a few cheaper sets and the magnets etc go in the handle piece and fail to hold the bit in the end :/

As a professional elcetrician of four years I have come to the conclusion that even a professional who uses his tools a lot can get by with cheap pliers, hammers, network tools etc - but never cheap screw drivers. For some reason there are no decent cheap screw drivers.
I like Wiha, Witte and Wera, they work well for me and are affordable in Germany.
Thats funny i just got a set of stanly tools ( i have tools but the are over at my kids house a few miles away ) i didnt want the highest price but i did want a decent set that wouldnt break with only hand strength .
The little bit sets thought . I just ordered to jackly set because I need two of the same bits . I have one set but the bits seem a little sowft ( they twist instead of break )
Funy also the most durable set I have is the bit kit from leatherman .they are very goid actually . Its all i had for some time . I have nearly worn them out .going to get another soon .but they are 2d . So mostly you can only use them with a wave or one like it . Not to handy to uae but in my pack with me !

Wiha sells bits in packs with 10 of the same size. Smaller sizes are actually more expensive with t6 about $17.00 and t8 only $8.00. Don’t even ask about T4 if you need them it’s $43.00 for the 10

Well, I ended up getting that fat little Boker/Wiha and I like it. Seems very high quality. However, you need to keep shifting your grip when turning it. But thats alright for me. I wont use it that much. (except for adjusting the stupid loosening pivot on my 940 that even though I put loctite on it, it still loosens. Either too tight or blade play. I think I'm done with Benchmade. I'm never believing the hype again.) Thanks Kevin, your videos are very helpful!
I find the Boker handle awkward as well, I've never heard of anyone having that much trouble with a 940 have you tried plumbers tape?
Kevin cleary nope. My coordination and eye sight probably won't handle that. Have you done that before?
Buy the Wiha Power Torx bits T6, T8, T10, and maybe T15 and get a stubby 1/4" hex handle-Wiha, Felo and you are good!

My dad used to say, buy high quality tools, they'll last for your lifetime. However, to my knowledge he has never used tiny drivers like a torx 6, as he's from a world of heavy machinery, where your spanner DOES last a lifetime and your children will inherit it to later pass them on to their children.. Get the chinese junk for tiny stuff off wish.com, buy loads and have them break after 4-6 knives.

Wiha bits. Handles are subjective, but if you don't want to waste money, stick with Wiha bits. Thanks for the video. Wish it was around before I did like you and went through multiple sets until I figure out Wiha is the end all.
I will say I should have known better but I always think I can find something just as good for less, also a few months ago the wiha set in the video was about $30 more
For the 100 dollars spent on the Wiha stubby driver and bit set you could of got a dedicated snap on torx screwdriver set that would of been better for quality, comfort, and warranty.

I've bought many cheaper sets, Sears to amazon sets, more Mac n snap-on than a home owner would need. For bits I'm into the Wiha sets. The precision n tolerance is the best I've used. Haven't stripped any yet and Hell go all out and get a custom Driver like me or 2 because sometimes you need 2 drivers.
I'm crafting my own custom brass driver so yeah...
Yeah steer way clear of iFIXIT bits. Sure they will send you new ones in the mail but I like to finish projects the same week and I can snap most of the torx amd smaller bits with the included handle by accident all day long.
Even cheap chineseium fasteners don't give way before the iFixIT bits, is that a safety feature I missed?
Anyhow, that's why I'm here watching... Fed up.
Well good thing of poor quality ones is that no worries about stripping your knife hardware. Good thing of quality is that is lasts long.
I have the Wiha one that has the accessories clip to the side which looks like a pen.
Pro is that it’s very narrow and simple system. Con is that it’s a bit long when screwing and also it’s prone to RUST! I keep it stored with silica packs and coat the bits with mineral oil.

That's expensive, when I bought just the 6 wiha torx bits it was about $10

I hear lots of good things about wiha, but I'd rather the bit fail than the screw I'm trying to turn. >.>b Buy once cry once is great but in this specific case I think it can cause more problems than it solves.
It's not so much the softness but the better tolerances because the Wiha fits better you end up with less stripping in general

Knife makers need to get away from the T-6 screw. They just suck ass. If I made knives, I'd go with Allen screws all around.
I used to buy only Mastercraft or Princess Auto, but then started working on remote oil wells and pipelines. Ever since then, I won't touch anything but the best quality money can buy. Cry once and never worry about it breaking at the least convenient time possible. An unintended side effect is that I now actually really enjoy using my tools as much as I can.

I'm not the guy who likes to take things apart but sometimes I need to so I was wondering if I did use it incorrectly (not enough pressude, bad angle etc). But reading comments here, watching your video - I'm glad to hear that it was probably just cheap tool and buying better one will help. Thank you!
