I do mis-speak multiple times throughout the video however they are minor flubs. pointing to a power limb and saying "outboard" doesnt really constitute redoing a 10min segment.
This video is to tell the story behind the Oneida Bow and the people and passion that has gone into the production of every Lever made since its introduction in 1980. To the men and women behind the Oneida brand of yesterday and today I hope this video captures the "brotherhood" and Love that comes with owning one of these exceptional weapons. I have held a Oneida close to my heart for going on 10yrs now and can honestly say there is nothing more elegant than the release of a arrow through something so very special.
This video was done out of the love for archery and in cooperation and support from the Pollington family. This is not a officially supported or sponsored video. All content is opinion of me Dustin Apple and should be treated as such. If you have a issue with your own personal bow you are encouraged to contact a local dealer or contact Oneida Bows directly for customer service.

Great to see you are recognizing the history of this very unique bow. The inventor, John Islas, happens to be my uncle and is originally from a small town in upstate NY called Lyon Mountain. This town is steeped with old time hunting tradition which certainly influenced his drive to be an innovator in the archery world. I still shoot the bow that uncle John personally gave my father decades ago as a gift.

I worked there in the mid 90’s. I was the last guy after assembly. I pulled them back for the first time, and then made sure that the limbs were aligned. I worked with John’s son. It was a small building just north of Syracuse, NY.

I've had an Aeroforce x80, it gave me a silver medal on the national championship here in argentina back in '2003, sadly it got stolen from me and could never replace it yet. Still, the very best bow i've ever seen or shoot.

Sir you should write and publish this as a book! Call it The History of Oneida from conception to present.

  • @coodyoutdoors8766

I remember when I was a little kid in the 80’s my grandma’s neighbor had one with a 2”overdraw shooting Votex broadheads thought it was coolest bow ever

Now that was a very interesting video - thanks much! I shot "for" Oneida (no salary, no contingencies, etc.) in Arizona back in the 80s and early 90s, but Oneida did build me a custom target bow they called the T-1000 and gave me a lot of Oneida goodies. It had a gloss white riser, pylons, inboard and outboard limbs with chrome plated timing wheels and cams. My club, the Huachuca Mountain Bowhunters, had an NFAA outdoor league that we called the "300 League" (NFAA 25 meter targets at 20, 25 and 30 yards, with five, four-arrow ends at each distance). I shot NFAA Bowhunter Limited (fingers) class and the T-1000 is the only bow with which I've ever shot a perfect score and I did it three times in those league shoots. I also won a lot of NFAA field and hunter rounds and got a lot of people interested in Oneida bows - in Arizona, the home of PSE. When it was fully tuned and locked down, it was the sweetest, most inherently stable and accurate arrow platform I've ever shot and I've been shooting for over 50 years now.

I purchased an Oneida Eagle bow in 1985 when living in Pennsylvania. It was the rage back then and it got a lot of admiration from all my hunting buddies. I hunted whitetail deer and harvested 60+ deer in PA, NY, OH and WV over the years. It's deadly accurate and been hanging in my man cave for several years. I have an archery elk tag for CO and will probably get one for UT. Gotta get a new string and updated arrows and a Whisper Biscuit. The bow is pristine otherwise, looks almost new. I take good care of my gear. The guys in my group here in UT never saw anything like it, it still gets lots of second looks and comments on how futuristic it looks. I'm pretty sure I'll be going on a TX pig hunt this fall too. I have no doubt that if I get an opportunity, there will be meat in the freezer, probably lots of it. You need to buy this bow!

Any possibility of making a video on how to set up and tune a lever bow? (Sorry if it's in this video, only about a quarter through)

I got my first deer with an Oneida screaming eagle. Sold it after several years. A little bit heavy to lug around the woods and the limbs kept twisting out. Just bought one again on eBay. From about the same year I’m pretty sure. 1990 or so . Got my first one around 1988 or 89 . I love it! I put my Keller pendulum sight on it . Same one from the original. I didn’t even have to adjust it

Thanks for the video Dustin, brought back lots of memories of bow hunting as it has been years since I have been able to enjoy it. I grew up with Gary B son Jim and actually worked at Oneida labs in Syracuse NY sanding those limbs. Still have the bow!

Great video!! Lots of information. I have my dads screaming eagle that I shoot bare bow and bought a black eagle II that has pins. Love the conversations that they bring when at the range.

This is so cool to know the information. I have a H500 from 1989 that still shoots like a champ. It's 32 years old now. That alone means a lot to me. Oneida has some of the best quality bows out there. I also love the feel of a recurve bow and this bow definitely gets me that same feel. I would love to get a newer Oneida bow with some of the new features.

I had an H-250, I believe it was. It came in the color black. Great shooting bow and i loved it and shot it well I think it was in the early 80's. I sold it a few years later and bought a High Country and never liked it or shot it as well as my Oneida!

Nice shout out for Joe, He's put his heart & soul into the lever limb bow & CP Oneida.

I had an H250 back in the 80's. It was a great bow. You could quiet them down very easily. I shot mine at 60 lb draw weight with 2216 and 2315 Easton aluminum arrows. I should have stayed with it but when the Screaming Eagle came out I had to have one. It was so loud. I did everything I did to my H250 to quiet it down but it didn't work. Glad to see they are still around and have solved the noise issues with them.

I wrote an article on these bows back in 1986 when I wrote for Western and National bowhunter publications. John Islas and Peter Coyne were great people. After the 6 hr plant tour and many photos...they took my buddy and I out to dinner. Before we left they presented us both with H-500 models. Since I shoot a recurve, I turned the bow over to my son...my buddy...still shot his until a few years ago. Very popular bows in Upstate NY, Western NY and picked up momentum here in the Southern part of NY.
