• Buying A Used Oneida Bow
Hey this is tom, just to clear up what brian was talking about my shooting style,
Split finger
Both eyes open
Split vision , similar to howard hill and byron Ferguson
And practice like a madman
Great video! Keep doing videos like this with this bow! You’ve earned one sub😁
Very tempting! Man that is quiet. Can’t wait to see what you get with it. Good luck!
Michael Haworth it’s an AMAZING bow! Super smooth, and it’s worth the money.
@@trentonmossel1993
Would u recommend it for hunting 2021?
I had a Onida Eagle I bought about 12 years ago. Its loud as hell. I'm sure that is why they added the "aggressive silencing" on this newwer bow.
Just bought a Oneida this year; shot a nice Florida 6pt last week
I’m loving it
Nice! Broke it in fast!
50 feet or less I don't use sights. Years of bow fishing and taking half pull shots has given me lots of practice. Been using the same Oneida for 20 years. My back hurts less I stay hydrated more. Cut out the energy drinks and soda. Found my bed wasn't helping back. I draw on and upward swing instead of downward. Mine is one turn off max poundage. My arrow tip is spot on at 100 yards. Those arrows seem slow. I run off brand whisker biscuit with gaps for fletchings cut out of it. I run small vanes. 30 inch draw.
Thanks for the video. I hope you have great sucess with your bow.
If you're wanting a better rest setup for finger shooting, try the bodoodle timberdoodle II rest. It's made for finger shooting and doesn't wear out like the plunger/flipper style rest. Me and many others have been shooting them on our Oneida's for years with fingers. You won't be disappointed.
Watching this older video. How are you able to get the timberdoodle quiet?
@@mitchellblount4896 you just put shrink tube or mole skin on the metal fins that hold the arrow.
It makes it dead quiet.
Can you tell me the exact model you suggest? Seems like there are more than one option on models. I am shooting the Oneida with fingers and hopefully trad vanes. By the way thanks for the help.
Try the G modules for longer draw length. My old Talon is a short but I get 29 1/2.
What is the tip to tip length on a phoenix I can find nothing online even on oneida's website
Does Oneida come in short / exact/ or long for their draw length? Example if you set it at 28” is it actually 28” or a little shorter, or like 28 1/4”. I really want a Phoenix, but I have a true draw length of 31.75. Some 31.5” draw length bows work for me and some feel to short. Any answer would be helpful, heck maybe there’s even a way of altering the bow I don’t know of so it would favor my draw length.
What quiver are you using please?
NAP FLIPPER REST NEW ARCHERY PRODUCTS. USED THEM FOR 20 YEARS.
Have you tried shooting with a release...if so was it as quiet as fingers?
Have you tried "FOBS"?
Your shooting it because Tim Wells the Shlock master and his whole family use it. He shot a elk at 100 yards with it.
Nope. I don’t care about Tim. I’m shooting it because my buddy Tom Drake (Tribe Drake on UA-cam) is shooting one and is the best archer I know.
Nice bow! What kind of quiver are you using? Thanks
Don’t remember the brand but it holds 8 arrows
Ranch fairy! Young man! You are on your way with good weight. Get rid of your mechanicals . Single bevels are the only way! I’m old shot these for 35 years.
Cool bow great video. Gonna probably get one to try out. I shoot trad currently
Do it. I’m still hunting with this bow. Killed a bunch of deer over the past 2 years with it. My shoulder doesn’t like my recurve anymore so this how is a good solution
@E Factor Outdoors - DIY Hunting Fishing that's good to know! I traded a guy some trad bows and he's got me fired up about these. I'm looking for a used one to try out.
What kind of string material did you use? I'm considering getting one of these and definitely will be doing a similar setup. Are the tips reinforced enough that you would trust d97 or fast flight material?
I’m using 452x string material. No issues in 10 months and I shoot often.
@@EFactorOutdoors awesome. I asked your buddy Tom about if you guys had ever tried extending the shelf to see if you could just shoot straight off of it. I think that would be pretty cool.
Is the bow able to use feather fletched arrows? Or is it vane only?
Depends on what rest you use i guess. I’m currently shooting feathers but we have tinkered with vanes and they do fine. Has nothing to do with the bow. It’s the whole setup just like any compound
How much quieter is your bow with the wool silencers versus the rubber like Tom uses? Are you concerned about getting them wet?
I don’t think there is a big difference other than mine are way cheaper and home made. I’m more concerned about my feathers getting wet on my arrows than I am the wool.
Wrapping the ends of the string in wool is a big deal also
Im trying to save up for one now.
What’s the speed
My max draw length is 27.5. Should I get the short or medium?
Sounds to me like you could go either way just fine since 27.5 is the max draw length for the short. The medium will be a bit more forgiving to shoot with fingers..aka less finger pinch.
The short is .. well shorter so it can be shot easier from a blind or tree stand
Would you shoot this bow with canting it a bit? or would you shoot it Olympic style.
Either way. Just like a with a recurve you can shoot it either way
This is not a compound bow… Its VERY different. This is a lever bow!
Shoot cutthroat’s best broadhead around!
Do bows need maintenance? New to the sport
Keep the string waxed. Also replace the string every few years depending how much you shoot it.
The oneidas have some cables also that need replaced every few years.
Did you try to shoot it from a shelf rest?
No the riser is cut way past center, unlike a recurve. I suppose you could build it up with leather and try! I shoot my recurves off the shelf.
@@EFactorOutdoors so you can not just put on for example a bear shelf rest unless you build it up with leather right.
How to fix your front shoulder pain suck your shoulder and keep it tight, Stand proud. Also draw the bow away from your chest, don’t pull into your chest, pull parallel with your body and rotate your hips as you pull. It should go away. And if that does not work, just lower the poundage.
Thx for the tip. My shoulder doesn’t hurt at all to shoot the Oneida now. Still hurts to shoot the ole recurve though.
What cables you using
I’m using aftermarket cables now but I’ve heard the Oneida cables are the way to go. And if you shoot a lot replacing them cables is a routine maintenance item. Probably annual.
You still like bow? What size and poundage?
Yes short 50#
Hey man,I dont know if you're still having those back and shoulder issues, I really recommend you looking up bulletproof back man, he's on UA-cam and instagram, and has a bunch of videos about fixing back pain and shoulder pain, he trains college athletes and was on the national bobsleigh team, really reccomend you checking him out, he has coaching services. Cheers from brasil
Can you put a sight on then though?
Yes if you wanted to
@@EFactorOutdoors thanks Mr.
4 feathers..?
I’m using 3
Easy V
Unwatchable. Less talking. More shooting
Look up tuffhead broadheads. You'll love them.
