I might be the only one here, but i loved how Jason looked in Freddy vs. Jason. He gave off a Frankenstein look which goes well for him character wise.
Not really, the loudest part of the fan base has been very critical of it. Crystal lake memories covers the controversy some. Both look, performance, & how hes written was bandwagonly crapped on
It’s very sad that we never got a sequel to the 2009 Friday the 13th. It would have been amazing! This franchise could have gone on a second time to put out a movie every few years and we could be up to part 10, 11 or 12 or even 13 again by now. What a shame.
It's pretty obvious that he is referencing raping a little girl, which is not a scenario with any dark humor potential, not even breaking a taboo. It is just disgusting and for-real evil. The MPAA censors must have been too dumb to even get the line, they just thought it was silly dialogue or something. I'm no prude and enjoy gross-out kills and sexual innuendo but that line went way too far.
I believe the idea was that Robert new Duke believed Jason was still alive and being irritated that he would ask him a question he already had the answer to decided to respond with an offensive comment. It explains why he belts it out right away, pauses and then upon realizing the adience at home has no idea what he knows proceeds to explain.
What cracks me up the most about the remake is that there was so little going on in the original run, that they were able to boil FOUR FILMS down into one.
I saw Friday The 13TH (2009) in theaters during my senior year 2 month before my birthday & 3 months before graduating high school & still love it till this day.
I love the 2009 Friday 13th remake or reboot or whatever you wanna call it. Nothing like that has ever been done before as far as taking multiple films from the franchise and smashing them up into your own original story. Very well done. But I think that the rule the writer set for themselves of the kids, never saying Jason‘s name, which obviously they ended up going against eventually, was pretty stupid. The opening of that film is about setting up the legend of Jason Voorhees and Camp Crystal Lake. How can you sit around that campfire and tell that story and get the audience thinking about Jason without saying his name at all? they should’ve made the rule the exact opposite. The kids would have said Jason‘s name quite a bit. Obviously they did. End up, uttering his name in the movie anyway, but that was a double rule in the first place.
When NLC got the franchise , kid me always wondered why it was never called Friday the 13th..like I knew JGtH was a Friday film but was curious why it was called that instead of Friday part 9...but then again I also just thought they were copying Freddy's dead 😂. Wasn't until college me found out about the IP name rights etc....other than JGoH, New line did ok with the franchise. Love FvJ, X was fun, and the Collab for the remake was great.
I think the reason why JGTHTFF didn't that well is because the character mythology was so thrown together and fleshed out throughout the entire movie franchise
You could do an entire video just on the alternate scripts for Freddy vs Jason most of them are pretty bad lol and really we did end up with probably the best script of the bunch. Only big problems with FVJ was I wish Tommy Jarvis was included as well as Alice from Nightmares 4 and 5 having 2 big characters from both series come together would have been a cool way to unite the franchises. But I suppose maybe that would have dragged ths film down with more back story but I think they both could have appeared or at least Tommy Jarvis to help the teens. With that said the concept of Freddy needing Jason to spread fear to power himself was a good idea.
was he though? They seemed to focus more on Jason. Freddy only really got 1 kill...jason was framed as the defacto hero...finale was at Crystal lake...Jason gets the final hit on Fred and Jason "wins" in the end, since Fred was only a severed head.
@@thecunninlynguistJason got the kills but the story was Freddys which is the only way a Freddy vs Jason movie could work. Freddy is inherently a better character then Jason so the movie needed to be geared toward him while giving Jason the body count. The Nightmare films we're never about a body count like the Jason films.
You couldn't build a FvJ movie around Jason because he's a force of nature. Freddy has all the mythology and character you have to build the story around him to make it work. Though if they had done a sequel they would have had the opportunity to delve more into Jason and his home town like what they did with Freddy in the first FvJ. They could also bring in other characters from both series like Tommy Jarvis and Alice from Nightmare 4 and 5.
Creeper is to dime store right now. His franchise is pretty much DOA unless a reboot saves it. I also think the Creeper is a different generation then Jason having Jason fight Freddy or Michael Myers makes more sense as all are from the classic 80s era.
@boomstickcritique902 i understand what you mean but if it's a all out death fight even though I love Jason i think the creeper wins just because he can pick up Jason and fly his ass up like 1000 feet then drop him
Jason X has my favorite kill of all the films (face smash) and I also saw the original in 1980 in the theater at 12 years old.. Also, the kill count folks never get it right because he caused the deaths of all those on the station they hit. Fun as Hell!
Way I see it with that nose scene, he was more powerful than he was the first attempt, just not quite powerful enough yet. As for the New Line Jason movies, I will say, when it comes to Friday the 13th movies, can't say that I've seen any that I flat out hate, even the bad ones, I could see some charm in them. Which for that many movies, it is rare for me. Leprechaun, Elm Street, Halloween, those I could think of at least 1 in those franchises I can say that I'm not a fan of at all, no matter how many chances I give it to win me over, not so with Jason. Anyways, enjoyed the video, thank you for this.
I think they need to make Jason a horror movie again. They kind of just make gore movies with most of the sequels. If you show too much of Jason he loses his scariness.
New Line destroyed Jason, they won't give us a new film effing bleeeeps. Happy christmas and a very merry new year to all and send my message to john & Lance. Ziggy puppy pup sends snuggles to all 😊🐾💜👍🎊🥳🎉🎶🎄🍾🎈
Really, I caught that too just watching the video. What a lame woke comment about a harmless little line of racial humor meant to make us giggle. I chuckled when watching it. Just stupid virtue signaling on the narrator's part.
The final chapter is my favorite Friday the 13th movie. It’s at least what I consider the best of the best of the franchise. But my all-time favorite Jason movie? Jason goes to hell. Hands-down. Fight me.
Has anybody asked Kane Hodder about the future of Jason Voorhees. I wish to meet the guy & ask him myself, but apparently it cost too much to meet your hero's. It would be such an honor if I ever get to meet Kane Hodder & I wish for him to be contacted soon from any of Crystal Lake executives about coming back as Jason Voorhees for S2, he at least deserves 5 million he deserves all the money for what he's done for the character. Sean S Cunningham I'd like another update about the crystal lake show.
Kane Hodder didn't deserve to be replaced or forgotten but to clarify what New Line did in FvJ cornfield scene. Jason Voorhees is Jason Voorhees. Once he was on fire & threw the machete at him it wasn't like Jason could have stealth because he's on fire & somebody died right in front of people so might as well show himself & hack em all that's right now seeing Jason Voorhees in their peralvision. Jason did that kill similar to F13 part 2 that 2 birds 1 stone in the bed scene but in the cornfield so can't say New Line didn't try. It was all Sean S Cunningham collaborating with Wes Craven.
Disagree on Goes to Hell being the worst it's the worst if you wanted another standard Jason slashing movie and I can understand wanting that after 8 films of the same thing. At the same time once I accepted Goes to Hell for what it was and the different direction it was going for it's not a bad horror movie. Goes to Hell has the best Gore and kills of the series in the Unrated cut and has the best overall acting of the series it's a good horror movie just not a good Friday movie because it lacks Jason and he's the only thing that coherently ties the series together lol.
@@boomstickcritique902 Yeah, to be fair, I don't honestly hate the movie, it's definitely unique in the franchise and the whole soul-swapping thing is pretty interesting, so fair enough. It's just personally the one I like the least. But it's nice seeing different opinions, I obviously have a different opinion in Jason X compared to most people I would think. 🤔🤷
@BCCSquidward I can understand not liking Goes to Hell I think I just tend to look at stuff more critically as opposed to from a fan perspective. I think I can roll more with it because they tried something new and the series basic formula was tired at that point. I also like Jason X because it knew what it was it's really a scific C action flick with some horror elements that just happens to have Jason in it. I can enjoy it for what it is though I do think the budget holds it back from being all it could have been. I think the movie would have worked better if instead of a space ship it was set on a future version of Crystal Lake and Jason was discovered frozen and he was woken up and juat wrecked havoc on a new future version of Crystal Lake on earth lol.
In the original draft he was going to be Jasons brother who would eat his heart trying to absorb Jasons power. Jasons spirit would be to powerful and would cause Elias body to break down so in the form of a heart creature it would jump from body to body while Tommy Jarvis would be tracking the Jason creature trying to destroy it. The script also had flash backs to Jason as a kid with his mother practicing black magic to explain why Jason was supernatural. We would find out that Jasons mother loved him but hated Elias and shunned him away which is why he had hatred for his brother Jason. The script was re written but the name Elias was kept and given to Jasons father instead.
The New Line films are all fun they just loose the feeling of the Paramount ones because they weren't made in the 80s and because they wanted to try different scenarios with Jason as opposed to just repeating the same formula again which the series jad mostly done with every other film until then. Jason Goes to Hell Unrated Cut is not a bad movie it just isn't a good Friday the 13th movie but it has great gore and better acting then 90 percent of the series. Jason X is a dumb fun C scifi action flick that is fun but also looks cheap and again doesnt feel like a Friday movie it feels like a scific action C movie that Jason randomly appears in. Freddy vs Jason does feel like a Freddy and Jason movie but has some bad CGI but it's a fun movie with great Jason kills and the fights between Jason and Freddy are fun though obviously they powered Freddy up so he would be able to fight Jason more in the real world. If we're being honest one punch from Jason in the real world should have knock Freddy's head right off lol. They amped Freddy up and gave him some silly kung fu moves but it was a fun movie. Freddy has all the story and mythology there's no way to build an FVJ movie around Jason as he's a force of nature not a master planner like Freddy so I never got that complaint.
I will never understand peoples love for FvJ. I found absolutely no redeeming qualities. Even Robert Englund was at his absolute worst because of the make up and dialogue. The cast of victims were abysmal, mainly because of the dialogue they were given, just like Robert. And Jason was the absolute worst depiction ever put on screen. He looked so sad all the time. you do not show Jasons eyes, thats a must. he lumbered around like Frankenstein and seemed bored with everything he was doing. and that final fight? These two guys are undead monsters, why are they squirting blood like a fire hose? Ronny crapped all over the chucky franchise and then proceeded to repeat it over the nightmare and friday franchises simply because everyone loved "Scream" and all the other bland horror movies that were popular at the time. I won't defend the Nightmare remake, but the Friday the 13th remake was far superior than this dumpster fire. It was nothing more than a scooby doo movie. and monicas final line of dialogue towards freddy.....seriously, WTF!!! Ronny Yu and New Line should be ashamed
The biggest fault is that FvJ and Bride/Seed of Chucky were all a product of the era in which they were made. Not much good came from that era in horror. As far as Ronny Yu, he knew nothing of the horror franchises he directed, and his style is just not right for them. Not saying it's bad, but it's not right. The script was way better before New Line or whoever hired someone to whittle it down. Swift and Shannon knew both franchises really well and should've gotten the chance to shorten it themselves. I mean, they wrote the F13 remake script, and, with a few exceptions, it was so much better. Instead, we got exposition dumps and ridiculous lines no one would actually say unless they were paid to say them.
@@nailsarelife agreed. when I watched the HUGE documentary, crystal lake memories? I can't remember what it was called, but when they got to that section, I just started screaming at the screen. Ronny knew nothing of these franchises....SO WHY WAS HE HIRED!!?? so many directors could have made this script work. and maybe Ronny was taking a pay day and can be forgiven, but you're right, New Line just didn't give a damn and interfered with what should have been this great horror clash of the titans movie that we've all been waiting to see for far too long.
@@Cazz8203 This may piss you off (it pissed me off), but Ronny Yu was hired for FvJ because "he proved himself" as a "horror comedy director" when he directed Bride of Chucky. 🤦
Many are FvJ fans because it was the only branch between the remakes of the late 2000s and the 90s. Many barely counted Jason X, and I myself didn’t even clock it until it was a DVD in December 2001. The film also spawned comics that had hyper violence and appealed to edgy teenage boys.
I wouldn't say sucked more like they didn't feel like Friday the 13th movies. But Friday was never a smart series it was always silly by the time they got to 9 there was nowhere else logically to go with Jason unless you did something radically different.
Jason Goes to Hell was a lousy version of Jason, but still had some great horror scenes, and was nowhere near as silly as the two movies that came after. New Line seemed to go out of their way to shit on the competition when they bought out Jason. They didn't even care to own all the rights to the franchise. They just wanted to make Jason look stupid
@Cazz8203 Well depending on the price the rest of the stuff wasn't really worth needing anyway. New Line got adult Jason Hockey Mask and Crystal Lake and really thats all you need you really don't need anything else. The Friday series was never a smart franchise it's was a low brow B movie slasher series with hokey writing that got by mostly on the fact it came out in the 80s that added to the series inherent camp charm.
I might be the only one here, but i loved how Jason looked in Freddy vs. Jason. He gave off a Frankenstein look which goes well for him character wise.
I liked his look just not his movement. Have a Happy Christmas and a very merry new year 😊🐾💜👍🥳🎊🎉🍾

It is the best of the big slasher 3 remakes between Friday the 13th remake, nightmare on elm st remake and both halloween remakes
I'm never understand that Crayton Duke line.
"Well, that makes me think of a little girl, in a pink dress... sticking a hot dog through a donut."

The biggest sin in cinema history is portraying Jason as being afraid of water. Friday the 13th Parts 4, 6, 7, and especially 8 disagree.

New line Jason sucked
I wouldn't say sucked more like they didn't feel like Friday the 13th movies. But Friday was never a smart series it was always silly by the time they got to 9 there was nowhere else logically to go with Jason unless you did something radically different.
@@boomstickcritique902they sucked
@nicholasbennett7367 LOL 😆 OK Bro whatever you say
