You have such a great spirit Mike! My daughter's working through the grades, its always a pleasure to watch you play at the start of each grade, you've brought real life to this journey for us.
Have you listened to Tools new album, Danny’s drums in pneuma are so god damn technical, watch the Vic Firth Pneuma drum cam footage, trust me you will have no regrets. Danny is legitimately a GOD
Ha ha yes a good challenge! It does say in the book it cam be played with one or two - just thought I'd try it with one for fun! Cheers for watching Shawn.
MagN8 That’s the one! The notes for this piece say you can play the kick part with one pedal or two, tried to do it with one here just for fun! Thanks for watching :)
quick doubt. In the first line of the notes there are a bunch of different notes which are placed above the line. I don't really know what they are for but they seem like extra toms. I didn't see you play anything like that in the start. So are they hi hat notes itself or you couldn't play them due to the lack of the toms?
I've a short doubt of 1 note, in the 5th bar first note it says high-hat, bass dum and small tom together however none of the other drumcovers including yours have played that, is this my misunderstanding or there's a reason behind it? 0:17
Above the note you're talking about it says "(HH on repeat only)". So the tom is played with the kick the first time (0:17), and the hi-hat (and no tom) is played when that line is repeated (0:24).
Yes i def found this v challenging with one kick pedal, good workout though! Kick drum playlist here: Kick drum technique: ua-cam.com/play/PLcfoni8UPb9rfMKiVUYJVO6C7lBcKZNvb.html

Great, yeah this one was loads of fun, thanks for watching!
Good lord that kick pattern in the final section is insane for a single foot

@@MikeBarnesDrums out of curiosity, how do you pull off those fast multiple strokes and do a horse gallop? I can only struggle to do doubles

Ha ha cheers Sean, not sure about smashed it but it was lots of fun to play! :)
Thanks for watching :)
doing this one soon 😬. cant wait tho my kinda song to learn
What time signature is it in I thought it was either 4/4 or 6/8 but other than that the song is good
It shifts, pretty much every bar! It's a mixture of (in order of appearance) 5/8, 7/8, 6/8, 2/4, 4/4, 9/8 and 3/4. Cheers man!
@@MikeBarnesDrums if I ever played this it would be very confusing when I first started but then after few practices then I'll get used to it
@@e.antony01 Ha ha yes, there's a reason there's a number 8 on the front of the book!!! :)

It’s the bass guitar part, written for reference so you know where you are in the intro and know when to come in!

Okay, Thankyou
Why is the first line written differently ad if its like an octave up or something? Since when were there octaves in drums
It's the bass guitar part written for reference! Hence it says "(bass)"

I'm not even doing this in my exam, but the double pedal practice is great in this
Yeah! I played it with a single but it was a roast at the end - prob would have been better with a double! Cheers man.
You are superb im Jonathan from India I'm just 15 years old I'm doing GRADE 8 just after 1 month is my grading exam so what are the tips...
I struggled to do it with a double bass pedal. How did u even get close to doing it with one?!?!?

Mindblowing
Ha, yes it's a bit mad this one! Lots of fun though. Thanks for watching man!
Hi, great playing especially the kick pedaling at the end lol. Do you have any advice on the improv in 6/8 to 4/4 section?
What happens when we copy your fills
You miss the chance to develop your own creativity! :)
Ok
Do you need to use double pedal for this song
I didn’t, you can use one if you want! Cheers :)
Is this possible without a double bass pedal
I'm not using a double bass pedal!
Thanks for watching man :)
I need to do this for my college audition from scratch and Ive got it in a week and I'm crying
Good luck!
Mega! How long did it take you to learn it for the video?
Does the song involve double bass??
Aman Lalwani Optional for the end section, I didn’t!
The venue that I do my exams at only has a single pedal. Maybe they want you to do it with a single too
@@JJustJ-yb9wh Yes you usually have to take in your own double pedal if you wish to use double kick!
Nice
They dumbed it down! Danny carry is a god
yoda adoy Ha ha, thanks for watching man!
First. Btw noice playing.
I'm in grade 2 and I can only imagine playing this currently
