Good episode -- thanks for Part 1 and Part 2 of this! My favorite personal beer glass is the Spiegelau stout glass, which you covered. Bought one of these at Goodwill a few years ago, and after doing research and identification, discovered the difference it makes in the taste of stouts and porters. Kind of amazing. To me, anyway. Elevates the entire experience of drinking these beers. Just my two cents.
I have heard of a navy tradition involving the yard of beer where some sort of earned medal(I believe) is at the bottom and as part of your hazing ritual to get it you have to chug the yard of beer and then catch it in your mouth
"Stein" in german is a rather loose term and may refer to a certain group of ceramic goods (see "Steingut"). To add to the confusion, the typical stubby german beer bottle is called "Steinieform", but I have never come across a single one that was made of other than glass.
Are you abel to keep inserted images a shorter amount of time? This is too long and just confuses me... I would rather watch you talking about a glass and try to imagine it than looking at photo and listening about it.

Yeah, sounds like the sort of thing a yard of ale glass would be good for...

Interesting!
