    The Sandakphu trek is one of the few treks from where you can see some of the tallest mountains in the world. This view is popularly known as the Sleeping Budha- an image that will stay in your mind for years to come. A unique feature of this trek are the tea houses you will find. They are similar to hotels and restaurants but are indescribably different. You will have to stay in one, to experience the warmth of a tea house.
    There are few trekkable places on earth where you can spot 8,000 meter peaks. Sandakphu is the highest peak, both in the state of West Bengal and Mechi in Nepal, and because of its unique geographical placement and height, Sandakphu offers grand views of the world’s tallest peaks. Standing at the Sandakphu peak, on your left, you see Lhotse and Makalu, the fourth and fifth highest peaks in the world. Then, there is Everest, effortlessly towering over everything.

    I have been wanting to do this trek for the past one year, but didn't know who to go with. Finally took a leap of faith with India Hikes and registered for early next year. Now that I am seeing this video, I can't tell you how inspiring and reassuring it is to see these two rockstar women.
    Looking forward to the trek!

    Hi, I went there this year in January. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The sleeping Buddha, the colors of the different layers of mountain ridges are just fantastic. We got snowfall on 24th as we were going through the Singalila forest towards Kalipokhari and roads are covered with snow. That moment was dreamlike. I will definitely go there again and I want everyone to go for a hike there during winter.

    Hi, I don't understand why in every episode, every trek which is being discussed is labelled as best/most beautiful/prettiest trek in India.

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  5 років тому +4

      You do? We don't really emphasise on that. We believe every trek has a uniqueness about it, which is why even in this video we talk about the views of the 4 tallest mountains in the world. Similarly for all other treks, we have a focus on what sets the trek apart.

    Hi. I m planing to book the trek on 8 December. I m landing in Bagdogra at 10 clock am. Must i take care of myself to came to Jaubhari or is there a driver from you to take me away?
    We sleep 2 nights in a tent? Need i a very warm sleepbag and a air mattress? Is the price lower if i want no porter? Greetings from Germany! :)

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  5 років тому +2

      Hallo from India! :) If you're trekking with us, yes, we will organise transport to Jaubari. Not from Bagdogra, but from NJP. You'll easily find public transport from Bagdogra to NJP. This transport fare is not in your trek fee, but you'll have to pay the driver directly. You could also opt to come on your own. You'll have to inform your Trek coordinator about it.
      And yes, you sleep in a tent for two nights, we'll give you warm sleeping bags, no worries. :)
      As for the porter, we don't have them by default. Most trekkers carry their own backpacks. So a porter fee would be additional.
      If you need any more info, just let us know! Guten tag! :)

    Do you think these trek companies ruin the experience? Too much mollycoddling? I went there thrice, once alone with another guide. Had no problems. All my guides were humble and caring fellows. Also my point has always been to avoid people that's why I trek. These companies defeat the purpose.
