@Carlos Green Fuzzy door owns it and can shop it, but technically Disney produces it via Fox. The best explanation is that it's one step removed. Disney expects Fox to run itself and they won't get involved unless they had to. But if The Orville needs a big brother, Disney can step in for them.
Yeah, I remember paying for hulu and still getting ads. Never again. I just bought the season passes of Orville on Vudu instead. Not cheap, but Im happy to support the show.
Yep, and ignoring "This is why The Orville is moving to HULU" its average, almost ripped scene for scene from other much older sci-fi shows it parodies. All done by SNL, SCTV, Living Color, MADtv, and almost any show that does sketch comedy years ago, I guess kudos for reusing it for a generation that hasn't seen it over and over like us old-timers. Not to say Orville isn't worth a watch. Strange how they used HARD actual numbers when they got to "how you can pay for Hulu" but never used hard numbers on the steadily declining viewer numbers of a show that cost a boatload to make and will doubtfully be as good when the budget is reduced (no mention of that either, just that FOX is still making it).
@@DatDudeVince I am a cheap ass but I also am not paying for something that still includes commercials. You got to pay extra if you don't want commercials.
@@baltsosser Of corse, few USA productor haven't realize that keeping the international right is better the selling them to smaller corp. This is what make streaming service a living hell.
@David Powell No, Desi let Lucille Ball buy out his half because he didn't want to be involved with DesiLu anymore in 1962 for 2.5 million dollars. Star Trek was pitched in 1967 or 1968.
Netflix and Hulu both are without Morality. They have the failed Marketing Ideas that 'Grabbing' anything and everything they can is the right way to select what they sell. Wow. So dumb. Netflix Originals and Hulu Originals - i saw both being absolutely disgusting Stuff. Sometimes.
Is Hulu FINALLY getting around to getting versions for different countries with same selection? Global village!!!! As for VPNs, do we all need US addresses with credit cards drawn on US banks? What century is this? God Bless the Almighty Torrent!!! I will buy DVDs when available, but have no choice otherwise. Arghh, mateys! Bits ahoy!
Yeah same in New Zealand, so the options are - pay for a proxy service AND pay for Hulu, or pirate... I have no issue at all subscribing to a service for one show I like - that's what I had to do for Game of Thrones (and yeah, waste of money for the last season!)- I hate piracy and want to encourage the production of good shows - but if they are going to make me pay for a proxy and pay for the service as well, fuck-em, the've made it too hard for me to give them my money, so I'll pirate until they make it realistic for me.
Like we said they didn't pay us anything we just happen to like Hulu and love the Orville. Without the move to Hulu there would be no Orville so I'll take it in any form.
@@ThePopcast I agree with you Popcast, some people just cant control their emotions. Logically speaking, this video was the only correct answer. Maybe these people want all the show staff to work for free.
This was a great breakdown, I will be following Orville to Hulu as I have the "disposable" cash but I can understand how many other may not and I worry about it. Only time will tell. Also love the shout out to Space Above & Beyond! What a fantastic series that was, hope you guys can do a video on that in the future - "Shuffle up the Wild Cards, and Deal Them!!"

i love how people say "We cut our cable bill and are saving money". Well most of us still get our internet from theses same cable providers so our bill doesn't change much. Nice try
To 'save' money on TV, you have to cut the cord back to "Internet only", and ditch everything else. To include getting rid of the cable company's rented modum wifi doohicky. Spend the $135 for a replacement modum/router and then pick the streams you want. I did this last year, and amortized the the replacement cost of the modum over a year, and I went from $212/month to just over $29/month, including the Amazon Prime charge. The hardest part was telling the Comcast drone on the phone I did NOT want any of their automatic sales pitch 'extras'....just internet, no phone, no extra router, no special prices on pay per view, etc etc etc. I think the poor she-child snowflake at Comcast call center just couldn't understand not wanting all the 'you just gotta have these goodies' attitude.
When Patrick Hasburgh was added to the showrunning team halfway through the first season, seaQuest DSV didn't know what it was. Quite a few of the second season episodes bordered on third season Star Trek absurdity. By the third season (2032) the show had stabilized, but it had lost most of its' audience after all the second season misfires. Moving the show to Wednesdays didn't help.
Hulu is where we've always watched Orville. As matter of fact we just watched both seasons for the third time... you can't do that on Fox. Thanks for posting this. You have a new sub.
When I grew up, we had three networks, each with dozens of shows people watched with commercials. Now we have dozens of networks, each with 2 or 3 shows that people are willing to pay to watch. Thanks sheeple, for making this business model work.
Don't talk spoiled brat you mericans gets more options then most countries here in Norway we don't get good shiit on Netflix or not enough shiit but you guys are loaded same with other networks as well so get out of here trashbag
Deadspace493 you should totally watch it. It's gross, vulgar, violent and I like it so, so, so much! I don't watch a lot of shows, but this is worth subscribing for a month to Amazon.
@@chezVee55 i mean idc if its gross or vulgar or usually even violent, i watch things for a good storyline... does it have a good storyline... or a storyline at all? Pulp Fiction was great because it was vulgar and violent but it also had a great setup and pretty good storyline, but for example, my favorite movie from him is actually Reservoir Dogs and while that movie has less vulgar-ness and violence, the story imo is just better and more entertaining, but a movie like Django is really good and the story is alright, but the action and setpieces are some of my favorite i've ever seen and the acting is amazing. I hope any of what i just said made sense lol (if you know these movies and based on what you liked, im assuming you are, in case you don't, they're all written by the same guy Quentin Tarantino so i figured mentioning somewhat similar movies might help with a basis on what i mean.)
Deadspace493 hum, story was good, well written. Actors are pretty good. I mean, you can still guess what's gonna happen but overall good. We are not in the same line as Pulp Fiction, but still worth watching. I like that we see the other side of the coin in super hero, what if they are not as good, or what if they are manipulated! Absolute power corrupt absolutely, we can see that in the show. You should give it a try, I'll probably watch the second season. Let me know if you liked it or not!
Well, I guess I'm done with The Orville. I am so tired of these shows moving to paid only streaming services. If I could afford to pay for TV of any kind, my life would be vastly different on so many levels.
oh yeah Hulu is a good move.....for those that live in the U.S. Unless they expand their service worldwide, the Orville will lose a good half of their audience.
You're wrong, it won't loose a single viewer, save for the morons who don't feel comfortable using the thousands of ways to watch movies or TV shows on the internet cause they feel it would be wrong not to pay the 5 to 15 dollar a month subscription, to Billion dollar companies, who pay their movie stars 10 to 20 million per picture and their TV stars a million per episode.
Strange thing, years ago i could watch stuff on hulu without issues, and then it started responding with a message that it is not available in my country (Hungary).
Normally I don't go for 20 minute analysis videos. My compliments to the writer for keeping this a compelling video to watch and for the excellent information. You have a new subscriber.
that doesnt make any sense. I pay for netflix, hulue, and amazon, and disney plus - and it STILL comes out WAY LESS than a cable bill. xDDD Like HALF the price. And I get all the same shows I would be getting on cable.
@@Krytern because a Hulu subscription offers me way more content than just Orville seasons while a CBS All Access subscription offers me nothing outside of STD.
It is really too bad The Orville is moving to HULU, I really liked the show and was looking forward to the new season. I don't subscribe to HULU so I will miss it!
Thanks for this update. I am so excited for season 3 of The Orville. I also like my Hulu subscription. When we were looking at a service online, we decided on Hulu because they have the Big 10 network and we wanted to watch Nebraska football games. But since joining, I have enjoyed many other channels and shows offered there. The Orville will be just one more reason to keep Hulu.
In what way is that? My household has been streaming only for over 3 years. The beauty is no contracts. We come and go with these services. We only keep Netflix for a month or two to catch up on Stranger Things etc. Then we drop it. Same with CBS. We do keep Hulu though because so many shows are on there. But we never have more than 2 at one time. It's saved us over $1000 a year for 3 years dropping cable and we haven't missed anything. I hope it never changes.
I'm not paying for Hulu. I'll wait to see if they release season Blu-ray's or dvds. If not I guess the Orville is over for me other than watching the clips that are bound to show up on UA-cam.
Piracy is the best way to watch the show anyway. I'm not going to sit through 10 minutes of commercials for 20 minutes of content when broadcast on Fox and I'm certainly not going to pay for the privilege of watching it on Hulu with commercials either.
Actually, this works better for me. I can't get OTA tv where I live, so i have no way to watch it on Fox anyway (unless I pay the cable company crazy amounts of money vs. $6 / mo.).
Wouldn't be as bad if Hulu was still using it's original model. Free with Ads or pay for premium to get ad free. Then they took away the free option altogether. I would prefer the option to watch for free with ads even if it was a week behind and then if they show content worth paying for to be ad free and sooner I would choose to pay.
Putting the best sci fi show currently being made behind a pay wall is a stunning failure of planning. It also shows a complete lack of understanding of the audience.
@@jonnystorm1 It was making more money as time went on with increasing viewership. That is a win for any other network, but it didn't seem like a good idea zo it was cancelled at the end of the contract Time for you to get out more.
@@baltsosser I was looking at the Average ratings for this season. It went up and down each week, but remained relatively steady at 2.96 million viewers while Big Bang Theory averaged 14.5. Yeah it was canceled at the end of the contract, but successful shows get their contracts renewed...
Having a subscription to Hulu already I don't mind though I can see why some might be concerned. But frankly Fox has a bad track record in holding onto good shows long term so I never really trusted Fox all that much. I'm just hoping this means a much longer life span for the show.
@Allen Polley Sound Design Seeing how long Seth had Family Guy running I'd say he's into the long running shows, though they did lose quality over time. As long as he can keep brining in and maybe even rotate writers to keep the show fresh.
I will never pay to watch a series or film I like. I will still watch whatever I want using my contacts in the Orion Syndicate. " Trillions of bars of Gold Pressed Latinum for Defense.......not one slip of Latinum for Tribute "
“The Orville going behind a paywall” is silly for some people to complain about...you have to pay for even basic cable. And Hulu is cheaper. Cord cutters unite.
Hex Leb that only gives you whatever channels are free in your area. I have a guy that works for me that uses an antennae and he only has about 8 channels. Non of which have anything of note on them. So getting in under the paywall via that method is dependent upon where you live.
I am not paying for an extra streaming program so that's it for me. There will now be a mass of pirating of this show. So the money will not be rolling in.
Not everyone thinks like you. Hulu is really cheap. I don't pay for cable and can't get it over the air so I've been watching it on Hulu the whole time. I'm excited because I don't have to wait a day late to see it now.
@@bwold9138 Cheap now... but for how long? The more shows that migrate from over-air broadcasting to streaming services, and the less attractive over the air tv becomes, the more money Hulu can demand from its customers because Hulu is competing less with free tv. Even if you are unable to receive over the air broadcasts, you still benefit from people who do because it keeps the cost to sign up for streaming services down. Don't expect the FCC to step in and control prices.
Oh no, they've lost Tom Turnbull! Seth is in trouble now. Seriously, though, chill out. Hulu will treat them better than FOX, the show will be better, and it'll eventually be available on some other service outside the US. It'll probably hit network TV after a year or two.
Whoever gets the Orville is very lucky. Well, we kept saying it's the show worth paying for. However as it's somewhat anusual for Orville fans, the show's views can decrease a bit.
Nice argument for getting Hulu, however... you didn't mention the cost of internet service and the charges for data usage. I'm being held hostage by "Comcast".
Very few people should be hitting the Comcast data caps according to them. Even with internet it's about $40-$60 cheaper per month for our house. We both use internet to work from home, unless you're watching over of the few shows available in 4k most people don't really need much more than 25Mbps and many home routers don't support much more than 100Mbps. Not sure your usage but our family are what are considered heavy users, we stream almost everything but we don't hit the 10TB limit on FiOS. Comcast just upper their data cap to 1TB which is nearly double their previous cap and should make streaming a lot easier to do without hitting the cap until 4K becomes more constant
@@philiptruax9382 Any cap is an unethical decision. Consumers are being held hostage by unethical, immoral and parasitic corporations. If you're low income, check out PCs For People internet plans. Not quite as fast, but truly unlimited.
@@philiptruax9382 Depends on the scenario. I'm a big gamer and play on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. With gamepass, I got to watch how many games I download because it can eat into my cap. Add 4K textures to that and some games are coming in around 100 gigs. Its still manageable but I have gone over a couple times this year and every month I am running up against 800 gigs. When the new consoles come out and all games support 4K its going to get worse. I hope Comcast eliminates the cap becuae it will be a big problem for console gamers in a couple of years.
@Tohur Its true and I am aware of that but for me I have been downsizing my bills this year, including cutting cable and to get the unlimited plan I would need to pay 50 more a month, 600 bucks a year and that's not an option. Right now its manageable but in a couple of years I'm going to have to go elsewhere or figure something out. Game downloads, games streaming, plus HD and 4K video, 1TB wont be cutting it in the near future. Might have to sign up with a slower speed from a different provider that doesn't have a cap if one is available.
Sometimes I wonder if Stargate and Firefly would still be around, or would've had more seasons/spin-offs, if they were both picked up by streaming services. Still excited for s3 of The Orville. Nice video btw 👍
I'm quite sure we would've had a few more seasons of Atlantis and Universe was just getting interesting when it was cancelled; unfortunately syfy was bought by NBC during this time and they were doing everything to cut costs which meant canceling expensive TV shows like Stargate and Caprica and replace with WWE fake wrestling and low-budget sci-fi movie remakes. There were movies scheduled for Atlantis but were permanently shelved and Universe just never found it's footing because it took so long to get interesting. Even though I loved SG-1, I felt it was done by Season 10 but not burned-out. I think Caprica simply suffered the budget axe because it wasn't that bad except for the last episode that had all the Cylons in church. As for Firefly, I watched it and the movie and it didn't have the broad appeal that other shows had which is probably the reason it was cancelled. I liked it but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority. Most people couldn't wrap their heads around the "silence in space" theme that surrounded this show even though it's accurate; they probably had a problem with the 19th century western dialogue about 1,000 years into the future (it took me a few minutes to get over this distraction). Then you had the series bad guys the Reavers they had to avoid in almost every episode who were cut-throat murdering low-tech cannibals who seemed to have mastered spaceflight even though they were barely more advanced than prehistoric Neanderthals. Had they gone with a modern/futuristic concept instead of the 19th century western then they could've probably gone four or five seasons. Fortunately for two of the actresses they were able to move on to Stargate, Atlantis, and "V". I know the star of the show went to a police show, but don't know what happened to the others.
Sorry. don't have hulu. will never pay for it. love the show. but this isn't going to get me to pay for it. I'll try to watch it free somewhere on the net like i watch Discovery , minutes after the new episode finishes, for free/
Yeah, I don’t get it. What they really mean is we’re pulling it from Fox so you have to pay for Hulu in order to watch it. Moving to Hulu is a flat out lie since it was there to begin with.
That's because Roddenberry's central thesis in Trek was that humanity would eventually become better and that has been ignored since the creation of Section 31 in DS9.
I would have paid a lot to keep watching firefly, unfortunately in the uk I will have no option for Hulu although we have always had to pay for the Orville. One reason repeatedly used is that they want the option for longer episodes which is great but Seth has said that things probably won’t change here, that means episodes will be cut down to fit the one hour slot with adverts so it’s going to be a pale copy of what Hulu viewers will get. Hopefully when it’s available to buy we will get full versions of each episode. Obviously though not everyone has the money to pay for satellite tv and buy it later.
Hi Sarah, great comments here! So the Orville was already getting a few more minutes than regular shows on Fox, so that' probably what Seth meant by things not changing. We do know that he can run longer if he needs to. I think we'll get more on Hulu than we could have gotten on Fox. We are talking to people making the show, so we feel very confident about this. Thanks!
This was disgusting. I'm so invested in what happens next between Ed and Teleya but after being subjected to this 20-minute advertisement I'm sickened at the thought of paying for a VPN and Hulu. Sorry, but I just don't drink enough "soda" to make it worthwhile. And jfc, neither should you.
I was okay with the move from the beginning but you did a great job on this video. I have admit the handmaids tale MGM/Hulu joint venture has gave me hope that we could eventually get a new stargate series and Dark Matter also. Maybe if enough people show interest in science fiction shows
There was an german website where i had read 1-3 months ago in an article about works on a "new" (classic) stargate series ... But since then i could not find any news nor the article i had read... The article even mentioned richard dean andersons involvement...
get a VPN, a Hulu gift card, set your self as being in America change DNS to one in America jump through 50 hoops and you can get Hulu... However as it is US only they have limited their audience to 320 million with upto 7.2 billion untapped.
I watch it on Amazon instant video streaming service. I just hope they get season 3 and onwards. Really enjoying season 2 not sure what I'll do when that ends. I suppose it is just like the good old days when you had to wait practically a whole year for the next season of TNG, DS9 and Voyager.
It's only on Hulu in the US. If you get it free on a broadcast station then you'll still get it for free on broadcast. It's the Americans who have to pay.
@@writerpatrick I have only found it on Amazon instant video so far. I don't know if any free to view channel is showing it and in my experience some channels start showing something then start moving it around all over the place or just stop showing it for no reason whatsoever, so annoying. I used to watch The West Wing on channel 4, then they moved it to E4 which at that time you had to pay for. I was able to start watching it a bit later when E4 became free to view. I have them on DVD now and must get round to watching them as I never did find out what Toby had done. Same sort of thing with Buffy spin off Angel. They put it on channel 4 at 6pm. I knew that was a mistake and sure enough they had to cut it in several places and even took out a whole episode as it wasn't suitable for that time slot. Then it just disappeared so I gave up and got the show on VHS as it wasn't immediately available on DVD. So if they show it on free to view TV great but I still hope it is available on Amazon or Netflix as I wouldn't trust a tv channel to show all episodes and not cut it. It was only since I got Netflix that I was able to watch Once Upon A Time which started on channel 5 then just disappeared.

This is precisely how I watched The Orville seasons 1 and 2. On Hulu. At the end of each season I cancelled the subscription and left Hulu a comment: "I'll be back when the next season starts". I do the same thing with Netflix. Why pay for a subscription year-round when I can get it long enough for the next season of Stranger Things, Bing whatever else they've got that looks good, and then cancel? Meanwhile I've got Amazon Prime for the shipping and their service can ride me over until it's time to pick up one of the other services. Great video!
Happy to hear that the show is continuing but not happy of having to pay for another subscription service. Fox has plenty of time for Gordon Ramsey but no time for science fiction ??
I just checked last week, when I seriously considered switching. I get a much better deal with Sling than we would with Hulu. So yeah, no, Hulu is absolutely NOT the "first" choice here.
Sling is less of a "streaming service" and more of a streaming app for parent company Dish Network. There are a ton of restrictions with Sling and it's really only good for Live TV which I care about maybe twice a year.
@@ThePopcast Not true at all. I haven't run into any restrictions and I've watched maybe 1 hour of "live TV" on Sling, ever. 99% of what we use it for is VoD (episodes for most shows are stored on-demand viewing) and that included Orville. Or, in a pinch, we use the Cloud DVR, which is nice because one can FF through any ads. The $6/mo Hulu sub is reasonable, but also pretty limited in terms of content.
You had me at Hulu... I jumped for joy! I cut the cord in 2016. I don't do sports, I couldn't care less about awards shows, music from UA-cam, get my news where I find it... me and Roku get along just fine with Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu. I will probably add CBS All Access when "Picard " runs. If it stinx, I can always drop it.
I live in the UK and was a huge Muppet Show fan. Due to shorter commercial breaks in the United Kingdom, every episode of The Muppet Show lasted two minutes longer in the UK than in the United States. The extra segments that were filmed to cover this time differential have been referred to as "UK Spots." On The Muppet Show, they usually consisted of a short song.
There are posibilities to watch it if you don't have a streaming service or network that offers the Orville. Now i have a Season 1 Orville DVD/Blue-ray box on my bookshelf and Season 2 on order! The big irony is that Comedy Central a part of Viacom (Owner Startrek! ) is starting to air the Orville in europe and not STD!
Physical media is still the best way to go. Some shows are being edited or changed years after the fact to cater to PC bullshit. You cant edit a blu ray or a dvd.
@@shadowgb you are assuming the DVD/Bluray release hasn't already been altered, I for one can tell you some have been, there are whole sequences of the Office (specifically the Koi Pond episode), that are now "deleted scenes" on the discs that aired on the original TV airing, In the aforementioned "Koi Pond" episode the shows opening scene was a haunted house in the warehouse where Daryl calls Jim BookFace because Jim has the word Book written across his face and no one told Daryl who everyone was, that entire sequence is now a deleted scene, which is stupid because in a later episode when they bring up how lazy Jim is with his halloween costumes it actually flashes back to that scene, but if you watched the DVD/Netflix versions you never saw it and are like "man when did that happen?"
Do you know how many streaming services there are? They are limited in what they have and I don't think people want to pay for all the services for the one or two shows that they really want to see.
Although you have to consider how much even one show you want to watch is worth. $11/mo is a couple of cups of coffee (at a coffee shop). Are two episodes of a show worth less than a cup of coffee to you? Plus, you can usually just binge watch stuff periodically if you're short cash.
Being on a severely limited income due to health reasons, I can’t even afford broadband much less pay for Hulu just for a single show. As much as I love The Orville, I’m out of the picture.
@@BakerStudiosIndy cable has gotten out of hand when it comes to expense, i agree, i know people who are well into the middle class range who do not like the rates they have to pay for something so simple and nowadays... so terrible.
I would recommend two scenarios. One, the hardest. When it ends, get a VPN and pirate it. Two, the easiest, when it ends, get the Hulu Free Trial and Binge it. After you do that, cancel. I get being on limited income, but I would rather give Seth as much view time as I can. The Orville is better then discovery. Period.
The Orville: A very strange and weird show. A mix of drama, 80's action show, lots of Star Trek and bits of comedy. Probably my favorite TV show right now. I've watched every episode so far. I've never been a Seth MacFarlane fan but I guess I am now.
Paying for The Orville is worth every cents and I am already used to it, as I live outside the US. In Europe we can buy a season pass for the show in high definition for +/- 30$. For me it would be a dream coming true and a major money saver if Hulu would launch over here 🙏
Yes David Hulu needs to go international. I think the thing holding them back is the variety of deals that overseas networks have that would be mad if Hulu could offer programming to everyone outside the U.S. Since they get to air shows right away in many cases. Great comment!
@@kevinal : I've already cut the cord. But this trend of putting all or most shows behind paywalls is ridiculous. I cut the cord to reduce costs. But now in order to see any quality programming we need to subscribe to every pay streaming service out there? Not a chance.

Greedy move. Not everyone can budget pay per view. I'm already dumping cable due to price increase. Losing loyal fans of a beloved program doesn't matter when money is involved. I'm already done with Star Wars, Star Trek, and now this. Back to Netflix.
Who is this narrator? Because I'll be honest, I haven't watched this channel in a while but if this guy is hosting new videos, I'd definitely watch more often.
Yeah, I watch on HULU too. It's likely most do, don't know anybody who still watches normal TV. My parents still pay for cable, but it's unnecessary. I can't get them to u understand it isn't needed if they would just get the slightest bit tech savy.
That "everything costs money" should be taught in school somehow. If too many people pirate something, it's no longer making enough money to be able to live. Personalized ads would at least make for few ads, but with all the privacy stuff these days, pretty much everything on the internet is going to end up behind a paywall.
Hi Patrick, so the word we are getting is that however you watched it last year, you should be able to watch it the same way during season 3. The plan as we've heard it is to distribute internationally the same way fox did previously. What did you watch it on during season's 1 and 2?
My problem is not with Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, or CBS All Access, etc. I’d gladly pay for those services if I had the money to afford the internet from one of the only two providers here in my area: AT&T or Suddenlink. I did have AT&T internet for awhile and I certainly don’t have any complaints about the quality. However, after rules/regulations changed so did their ability to charge me more if I wanted “faster” service. Likewise with Suddenlink, which I’ve also had. They will intentionally slow down service making it difficult to stream programs on these content providers. Suddenlink does this the moment your new bill goes into effect until it is paid (and if you have it set to autopay your bill you cannot change the pay date nor can you pay in advance so you are stuck with slowed service until then). With AT&T the service is slowed usually due to weather, but also due to volume of users. It will also slow down your connection the closer it gets to your new billing cycle (regardless of if you’ve paid already or not). I have friends who opted to pay more for the higher speed packages, but they experience the same problems despite paying more. When I changed jobs that left me short on money as the job pays a lot less than my previous job so I cut services. For me, I just have to rely on the content creators to produce them on DVD/Bluray sets that I can purchase and watch at home. I’d use my phone to watch on the content provider streaming services.....but my mobile phone provider slows data after so much is used each billing period. And all the other providers do the same according to friends who have other providers. Maybe it’s not like that where you live (Congrats!), but that’s what it’s like here in rural America. One of the things I loved about the internet early on was the promise of being able to connect to the world and share in things from wherever...to be included. Today, it seems we’re being throttled out. :-( Great video and I do hope The Orville gets many seasons because it’s amazing. It was one of a few shows which is why I was even bothering to keep the DirectTV I pay for. It wasn’t as much as the internet, included DVR so I could record the shows to watch in case I missed their first airing by being at work, and didn’t cost as much as I was being charged for internet. Truthfully the only shows I was keeping it for was The Orville and Star Wars Resistance. Now I guess it’s just Star Wars Resistance which this is the final season of anyways. So looks like I’ll be cutting it in the near future. If I get a good raise or a better paying job then I’ll be able to afford the internet again here (or the city I live in decides to open up the market to other providers so there’s more than just two who have permission to do business here....assuming any others want to come here...since business competition usually economically spurs lower costs for consumers; usually). Great video!
Between those two you should go with Suddenlink they do offer a no data limit internet with their highest speed. AT&T is slower and they cap the data. I switched Suddenlink and I have no regret.

@Carlos Green
Pretty much.
@Carlos Green Fuzzy door owns it and can shop it, but technically Disney produces it via Fox. The best explanation is that it's one step removed. Disney expects Fox to run itself and they won't get involved unless they had to. But if The Orville needs a big brother, Disney can step in for them.
As an Australian we dont get Hulu. So thoughts?
so i just watched a 20 minute long hulu add.. thanks.
That's about what I got out of it also.
Yeah, I remember paying for hulu and still getting ads. Never again. I just bought the season passes of Orville on Vudu instead. Not cheap, but Im happy to support the show.
Guardian Gibbs If 10$ a month for 100s of shows is a lot of money to you, then you’re likely just a cheap ass.

Absolutely. It's not just a paywall, it's a geographical border.
I've seen more pirated stuff out there from outside the US than any other country as I've traveled in more than 20 countries.
@@baltsosser Of corse, few USA productor haven't realize that keeping the international right is better the selling them to smaller corp. This is what make streaming service a living hell.

Not really: a lot of Streaming show don't get air due to the length of the episode. Unless the service become availlable, we are force to pirate it.

@David Powell No, Desi let Lucille Ball buy out his half because he didn't want to be involved with DesiLu anymore in 1962 for 2.5 million dollars. Star Trek was pitched in 1967 or 1968.
@@gaylynn209 Star Trek 1st pilot was 1964 so I think it was before that.

Sometimes.

Tell me guys, are you getting a stipend from Hulu? This video is Shilltastic!

"We would like to say thanks to our sponsor: HULU." Plain as melted snow this.
Or just "We really need to save the better shows".
Consumers should understand that everything costs money to make.
i love how people say "We cut our cable bill and are saving money". Well most of us still get our internet from theses same cable providers so our bill doesn't change much. Nice try
Yep. Since I get TV, internet, phone in a BUNDLE from my cable company... my bill would actually go UP if I "cut" cable TV.
Orville is one of the best shows on TV. It's like Seaquest DSV was in the 1990's that never got enough credit.
I would love to see seaQuest rebooted
@Mark Prothro you should keep watching it tells you the the females get an sex change
Hulu is where we've always watched Orville. As matter of fact we just watched both seasons for the third time... you can't do that on Fox. Thanks for posting this. You have a new sub.

Youre in lick hulu will be going worldwide pretty soon.

“The Orville going behind a paywall” is silly for some people to complain about...you have to pay for even basic cable. And Hulu is cheaper. Cord cutters unite.
"Not everyone has cable, Princess!"
you dont have to pay for basic cable go to the store by an antenna slap it on your tv and you have basic tv from your local provider
Comcast is stuck in 2010 with its data cap, but it is no way in part expensive. even on the $15 a month plan you have a 2tb data cap.
Our entire family loved Firefly and the kids bought the video series. I wish that would be brought back.

I was panic-stricken that Orville might go the way of Firefly. There's something about Orville that has more humanity than the new Star Trek.
Agreed
Thanks!

Fox has plenty of time for Gordon Ramsey but no time for science fiction ??
fox failed the fans....can't get out of the box.
Are you kidding me? Damnit! Well I guess that's it for me.
You lost me with 'Hulu should be the first streaming service'... just no. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime offer more for less.
Netflix currently offers more, but very soon half their extended library is leaving the platform.
@@ThePopcast that is total BS
Or, have patience and buy the DVD/Blu-ray when they come out!
@@shadowgb And No stupid commercials or banners during watching!
1 month of Hulu is cheaper then 1 season and I could binge all the seasons in that month, why would I buy the discs?
@@shadowgb you are assuming the DVD/Bluray release hasn't already been altered, I for one can tell you some have been, there are whole sequences of the Office (specifically the Koi Pond episode), that are now "deleted scenes" on the discs that aired on the original TV airing, In the aforementioned "Koi Pond" episode the shows opening scene was a haunted house in the warehouse where Daryl calls Jim BookFace because Jim has the word Book written across his face and no one told Daryl who everyone was, that entire sequence is now a deleted scene, which is stupid because in a later episode when they bring up how lazy Jim is with his halloween costumes it actually flashes back to that scene, but if you watched the DVD/Netflix versions you never saw it and are like "man when did that happen?"
here take my correction ;) "first we wanna thank our sponser of this video--> Hulu"
That sucks ! I am not signing for Hu Lu. Good bye Orville Terrible move..... I am not paying for bias APPs
How to kill a franchise - Make the fans pay YET another fee to view it.
I love The Orville, but Hulu it not available in my country. I hope that it still will air on television.
Do you know how many streaming services there are? They are limited in what they have and I don't think people want to pay for all the services for the one or two shows that they really want to see.
Well said!
Although you have to consider how much even one show you want to watch is worth. $11/mo is a couple of cups of coffee (at a coffee shop).
Are two episodes of a show worth less than a cup of coffee to you?
Plus, you can usually just binge watch stuff periodically if you're short cash.
The Orville NEEDS to be sold on Blu Ray.
It is now and will be in the future
@@ThePopcast Please give a link. Because when I search on the web for it, I can only find DVDs and streaming services. I want hard copy.
Being on a severely limited income due to health reasons, I can’t even afford broadband much less pay for Hulu just for a single show. As much as I love The Orville, I’m out of the picture.
Just replace cable with Hulu.
Either way, you'd be paying for it. Hulu would be far cheaper.
GlitterFairyLilo who can afford cable? All I have is shared WiFi.
Period.
@@twenty-fifth420 i agree wholeheartedly with your quote "The Orville is better then discovery"
The Orville: A very strange and weird show. A mix of drama, 80's action show, lots of Star Trek and bits of comedy. Probably my favorite TV show right now. I've watched every episode so far. I've never been a Seth MacFarlane fan but I guess I am now.
I subscribed to your channel based on this video alone and your love for The Orville and Star Trek!
Hulu has good shows already, and if they are allowing for more Orville, then I like Hulu even more then I already did.
Putting The Orville behind a pay wall means that I will no longer be a viewer. Very sad.
Agree 100%.....the streaming service wars can kiss my butt
Your loss...
Face it sooner or later, well most likely sooner. Cable TV is going to go the way of Blockbuster video.
@@kevinal : I've already cut the cord. But this trend of putting all or most shows behind paywalls is ridiculous. I cut the cord to reduce costs. But now in order to see any quality programming we need to subscribe to every pay streaming service out there? Not a chance.
There's always android movie and show apps. Like- Jetbox, Cyberflix, and Tea tv.
I've never had cable. I was already watching The Orville on Hulu so this won't change anything for me. Cool.
Damn son, this video was so bad ass. Kudos! This has practically made me want to keep my Hulu subscription, if anything.
The only reason I have Hulu is because It was the only way I could watch The Orville due to my work schedule. These are great news we are getting. Thanks for the good news!
Well, there's another show I won't be able to watch.
Torrent.
you know that phrase "the hills speak german"?
in this case, the hills speak chinese.
If you have android you could just look up movie and show apps. I'll give you 3- Jetbox - Cyberflix - Tea tv.
There you have it. That's the game an the pitch. Another show I can't an won't watch . Ohh a commercial on top of another .weeee
Download an app called showbox u cam literally watch any movie or TV show
This is horrible news. I don't feel like spending more $$$ on streaming services in addition to what I already pay for.
I agree.
But but I don't live in the US... I'm crying, I'm crying...
I'm totally crushed...I just refuse to pay for another tv service. Such a great show.
That is my legendary brother Shane 😎
Cut the cord a long time ago, and already watch the Orville on Hulu. Unlike STD, the pay wall is worth it.
ME TOO
Hulu: "Pay up or else talk to the wall."
Torrent Army: *Pulls out demolition saws. "Fuck your and everyone else's pay walls. Shits free for us."
Might do both nothng wrong with doing 6 months of HULU 6 months of Netflix
Yeah, I watch on HULU too. It's likely most do, don't know anybody who still watches normal TV. My parents still pay for cable, but it's unnecessary. I can't get them to u understand it isn't needed if they would just get the slightest bit tech savy.
@@caiusmadison2996 ....I watch antanna tv over the air and watch UA-cam on my phone during the ads.
Just subscribed to you guys thanks to that brilliant Star Gate history. I;m going to spend so much time watching all videos!
Thank you for this amazing breakdown. Cause I was mad at first yet everything said here made that much more sense. Thanks again for this video. :D
That "everything costs money" should be taught in school somehow. If too many people pirate something, it's no longer making enough money to be able to live.
Personalized ads would at least make for few ads, but with all the privacy stuff these days, pretty much everything on the internet is going to end up behind a paywall.
don't bother it just an advertisement for HULU and not a nice one at that.
This is obviously a Hulu commercial and not about the orville
No Orville for me anymore then :( hulu is USA only. Hopefully it will be syndicated on Netflix or something else than runs in Europe.
Hi Patrick, so the word we are getting is that however you watched it last year, you should be able to watch it the same way during season 3. The plan as we've heard it is to distribute internationally the same way fox did previously. What did you watch it on during season's 1 and 2?
@@ThePopcast Via a VPN. It isn't available here. However, HULU doesn't work that way :(
Just get it the old fashioned way
@@Rraawwrrs1980 let's hope we don't have to...

Actually, Dr. Who began airing in the US in the late 1970s on PBS, and was one of the biggest fundraisers for the network for decades.
Do you want people to pirate it? Cause this is how you get pirates.
Like android movie and show apps. Such as Jetbox, Cyberflix, and Tea tv.
ARRRGH MATEY!!!! that's how i'm going to watch it.
Your right Hulu should pay you for this video.
Tweet them and tell them to send a check. This video was a ton of work 😂
I understand that it was a ton of work. I also understand that it was a 20-minute ad for Hulu. I suppose that you should get your cut for that.
Moving to HULU ? Hulu take my money now!
I can't speak for other fans, but...
I only watched FOX for The Orville. I Don't do sports nor fake news.
