Thanks man! But yeah, All of those blueish colored points with the brown cortex at the base were all found at the same spot. I found 2 more there over the weeks / months after the finds in this video were made. They will probably be in the next video. I think they were found too far apart to have been part of a cache or anything, but it must’ve been their style at that particular camp?! Good eye!
I was out earlier today. Water pump went out on me on the way to my first spot. Luckily I was able to limp back to the ramp! I still took the time to hunt that spot while I was in the area though. Lol
It definitely stuck out like a sore thumb in that mud. I didn’t have a clue what it was at first. I’ve learned to just whip out the phone and record all the unusual things I pick up just in case it winds up being something neat! Thanks as always buddy!
Great video nice to see some warmer scenery with a 10 year snow on the ground here in NC.nice green brier point and square knife, some nice stemmed points, and the table rock looking point is made from som beautiful banded material, nice finds and stay warm

You have such a great creek/river spot(s). The fact that the points come out with almost no damage is unbelievable at times. We have SO much rocky shoreline that nearly everything I find is broken. It is almost time to get back at it for 2025. All this snow and sub-freezing weather in Maryland has kept me away from the water for weeks! Ready to get back on 'em. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share!
We definitely have our fair share of rocky areas, and for the most part the stuff that comes from those spots are mostly broken. The sandy / silty areas do have a much higher success rate when it comes to the whole ones! It helps that I find them straight at the source from where they come out of the bank, which gives it relatively minimal time to be exposed to conditions that lead to breakage. The metal piece I believe is made of lead.. I think. If so it would be post contact. It’s definitely made in an identical fashion to the copper points that are more common around MI. Time to metal detect! Thanks for checking it out and commenting. Hope it thaws out soon for you up there so you can get back at it!
Perfect timing for a video. Ive been killing it lately. Found 8 celts a paddle drill and 4 whole points in 2 hours the other day. Found 2 points yesterday and 2 today. No telling what ill find this weekend. Your videos always give me good luck!

Very interesting finds! Yes that does appear to be a conical arrowhead to me, likely bent due to impact with a hard surface. I haven't seen many examples in person but it's spot on in manufacture imo. Lots of cool mid to late archaic stemmed projectiles/knives. The concave based side notch looks like an earlier type such as Greebrier or Big Sandy. I love artifact collecting, and ive been into typology for many years and fortunate to have studied and debated North American arrowhead types with many elders in the hobby and pros included. I enjoyed your show, thanks for sharing it!
I really appreciate your input on the artifacts! That’s what I love about sharing finds, is when people share their thoughts on pieces. I’m admittedly bad at identifying pieces. There are SO MANY different types, with some only being different by such minute details. I do believe that metal point was some kind of hunting tool, but I cant say for sure cause I wern't there when it was in use. However, you can easily tell that it is older than dirt.
Hah you would be correct! All the finds in this video were found back in July of last year. I’m that behind on making videos! By the time summer gets here my videos will have ice and snow in them. But I appreciate the input on that metal piece. When I checked out some copper points at an artifact show, I noticed that they were made in a similar fashion. Like they had just rolled it over the shaft of something and beat it into shape. I need to go back there with my metal detector!
@@Points365 That's another thing I like doing, Metal detecting. I have two detectors, One is a Whites Classic and the other is a Whites Eagle II which I have found lots of good stuff with, including a CSA belt buckle. There's a story behind that. I was detecting an old church yard and found quite a few of those neckerchief things that the Cub Scouts of America would have on their neckerchief, the thing with the Bear on it. Anyway, I went around to the back of the church and there was a narrow road back there and on the other side of the road was this huge Oak Tree. I got a strong signal first thing and dug down about 10 inches or so and found a barber quarter dated 1915. I moved on around the tree and got this huge bang on my detector. 18 inches in the ground and I came out with this belt buckle that had CSA on it, just like the neckerchief things did and being a dummy, I thought it was a Cub Scouts buckle. 8 years later I found out it was a civil war buckle.
My dad was a whites fan. He used to swing one back in the day around Nashville when civil was relics were scattered all over town. He said you could find any old rock wall near town and walk along it swinging and find something! That’s an incredible yet hilarious story about the belt buckle! I can definitely see why you’d think it was a “Cub Scouts of America” buckle though! That’s like the holy grail of most every relic hunter that looks for civil war artifacts. What state or area are you from?
@ I am from North Georgia, Blairsville Ga. to be exact, but the civil war was more to the west of us, but I am sure that troops probably fanned out across the state looking for Johnny Reb, which is me, and maybe stopped to drop their pants to empty their bowels and lost a buckle in the process. Who knows? The worst thing about that find was that I let a guy who knew what I had found, beat me out of it for 100 bucks, then call me a week later and thank me for that 4000 dollar buckle, because mine was the best one ever found, completely intact, because of the Georgia red clay that I dug it out of, which had preserved it whole. no marks anywhere, which also made me think it was a Cub Scouts buckle. I never went detecting with that guy ever again either. I don't like to be cheated. By the way, I live in North West Georgia now, near Summerville and probably about 1 mile from the Alabama State Line and about 35 miles from Chattanooga, Tenn. Where are you from .

But man, we’re basically neighbors! Haha well not quite. I live just outside of Nashville. Just south of it. Born and raised. I wish I had know in my youth how plentiful artifacts were, I would’ve gotten started a lot earlier!
Even the heartbreakers are a welcomed find on those long days with little to show for it as you know! These finds were from July or so of last year. The rolled copper piece looks like a tinkler to me. Native women would sew quite a few of them to the bottom hem of their dresses. When they walked or danced they hit together and made a tinkling sound. Some are open on both ends and some are closed and tapered like yours.👍♋

I’m not sure if the square knives were only used in the earlier time periods or not, but early archaic is the newest stuff that comes from that particular spot. That metal piece either hit a “rock”fish or one heck of a hard noggin! Haha

I had an idea of what it was when I picked it up, but had to do some research to verify. It definitely looks like the copper points found farther north of here. Someone mentioned the tinkler cone earlier. They called it something different, but thought it might be one of those? I wouldn’t have a clue. Thanks for the input buddy!
That presumed metal point is intriguing! The only groups using metal were a few tribes in Michigan and they were made with copper that can be found in a near pure state there. If that's what it is, it was traded down or? Later when metal showed up many adopted it, but the rolling looks the same as the pre Columbian metal points. ALL of the finds were awesome!
When I’ve taken that piece to shows for input it’s caused a few head scratches. Everyone agrees that it looks spot on to the rolled copper points found up north. This one seems to be made of lead though I believe. A couple people thought copper, a couple people thought lead as well. For now it resides in my cabinet of curiosities! Haha I appreciate the input man, I enjoy hearing what everyone thinks!

You might be correct on that thought. After researching the old copper artifacts, the rolled copper arrowheads looked like a dead ringer. Although I’m not sure this piece is copper. Whatever it was made to fit over is about the same diameter of a pencil. I could definitely see it as an ornamental pieces as well. Thanks for the input buddy!
Yeah, they were all found in the same general area. If they were found in the same spot I’d be inclined to think it might be a possible cache. I have 2 more found from the same spot that I found weeks after these were found. They will probably be in the next video. I have them all lined up next to each other, they look good lined up together!

Love the small gray hardaway with the red tip…we don’t find many in these parts…and the copper rolled tip is fantastic!!!…would be cool to have somebody test the metallurgy to see if it came from the Michigan source way back when or if it was a trade scrap from the historic times??
I really appreciate it man! The guys I showed it to definitely thought it to be a rolled point. Some thought lead, some thought copper. I thought copper had more of a green patina, but I’m not the pro on that! If it is lead it was likely something traded or snatched in historic times. Either way I was excited to find it!

Well, I was right about the video giving me luck! Went back to the field that I found all those celts in and found 8 whole points, a blade 15 broken points, a nutting stone, 4 hammer stones, and the best celt I've ever found! It's a rare type of rock for my area. I'm not sure what type of rock. It's a translucent brown with other rock inclusions!
I’m telling you.. you’d have a killer channel from the sound of it! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy… we just wanna see some artifacts! Stuff like that sounds like it doesn’t need commentary or anything! Those sound like amazing pieces! Hope to see them sometime!

Bro. That rolled copper piece is one of those "holy sh*t" moments lol that is insane. rolled copper projectile is what that is i beleive but was not aware of any significant amounts of copper stuff being found in TN. Its here on some level as ive seen publications and collections with some copper relics from mid and west TN. I cannot beleive you actually walked up and eyeballed that in the surf! Lol insanelt rare find is what that is. Would 100% be curious as to the origins of the copper as well as the way its made, maybe some folks can shed some light on where/when it wouldve been made. The stylistic characteristics of hiw its rolled/pounded into shape and rolled probably are distinct to certain time period and localities maybe. I would say it could be a flaking tool but im not sure theres any existing examples that are made that way, by rolling into shape. As far as im aware thats not how they were making the flaking tools that they did using copper. Especiqlly furthur down here in the south where copper is nowhere to be found as far as naturally occurring sources.
I have 2 other copper artifacts that I found in years past, and one has a more greenish color, the other having more of a cream color / greenish patina. This piece has more of a lead colored patina to it it seems. I took it to the KY dam show last year to get some thoughts on it. Showed it to everyone who had metal artifacts displayed. Everyone agreed that it looked like the rolled metal points. Some thought lead, some thought copper. As one guy mentioned that thought it was lead, he said although it was unusual, it wasn’t unheard of, and that they used whatever they got their hands on. I need to settle the debate on what type of metal it is by swinging my metal detector over it! Haha thanks again and as always for the input man. The finds in this video were made over a 3 week period or so, so they were all over. Some eastern middle TN, and some more middle to western middle TN. I live in the Nashville area and usually travel up to 1-1.5 hours away in any which direction when hunting, if that helps. Thanks for taking the time to check out the finds!

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to how many I might have. If I knew how many I actually have I might start to wonder if I have a problem!😂 I would roughly guess that I have close to 1,000 whole / mostly whole. No telling how many broken pieces I have. If it’s like the ratio at which I find broken vs whole, which is probably 10:1… then that means I’d have close to 10k..🤔 Surely that number can’t be right! I do have tons, but it sure doesn’t seem like THAT many! Haha It’s all good on the last comment by the way! I wouldn’t put it past me to break the silence.. I definitely heard myself in the background on one of my more recent finds. I’ll have to edit that out! Haha thanks as always!
Still baffling how all the Pickwicks look like the same guy made them. They all have that one weak shoulder. You would think after a few hundred years one guy would say, "Hey, I'm going to make mine with symmetrical ears this time" Nope, just the same copy-cats over, and over, and over. Crazy
They prob accidentally made them symmetrical, but everyone made fun of it so much he destroyed it! Haha But I hear ya man… it is one of those mysteries that we’ll never have answers for! Did you get any sort of winter precipitation the other day? My uncle just north of you had some snow cover!
@Points365 Just cold rain for the last 4 days straight. Cold, but not too bad. Temps hovering around 50°.. which is miserable to us. Florida cold just Hits different. It's that kinda wet windy noreastern cold that cuts right through you. Like lake-effect cold. Miserable
Thanks man! Found that last piece on a bank as the water had recently receded. No modern trash found there. Everything from mid archaic to woodland artifacts found there as far as I can tell. I had no clue what it was when I walked up on it. I’ve learned over the years to pick up anything that looks unusual or out of place. Given where it was found I figured it record the pull just in case. After taking home and doing some research it looked exactly like the rolled copper points found more north of me. I took it to a show to get some input and everyone agreed it looked like the rolled points. Some thought copper. Some thought lead. The patina and weight make me think lead, but haven’t figured it out for sure yet. Some on here have thought it’s more likely to be an awl, which I could also see it being.

Just being terrified of dropping an artifact gives me super human reflexes! Haha But thank you for all the compliments on the artifacts. Each one of these would have to be my favorite one. Maybe the brindle stone is most impressive , yet the rolled metal is astonishing to see.

I know that this video was made back when warmer weather was around by those big toes you were broadcasting, Lol! Another great video of treasures to be enjoyed and I am thankful for it. I do believe that metal point was some kind of hunting tool, but I cant say for sure cause I wern't there when it was in use. However, you can easily tell that it is older than dirt.
Hah you would be correct! All the finds in this video were found back in July of last year. I’m that behind on making videos! By the time summer gets here my videos will have ice and snow in them. But I appreciate the input on that metal piece. When I checked out some copper points at an artifact show, I noticed that they were made in a similar fashion. Like they had just rolled it over the shaft of something and beat it into shape. I need to go back there with my metal detector!
@@Points365 That's another thing I like doing, Metal detecting. I have two detectors, One is a Whites Classic and the other is a Whites Eagle II which I have found lots of good stuff with, including a CSA belt buckle. There's a story behind that. I was detecting an old church yard and found quite a few of those neckerchief things that the Cub Scouts of America would have on their neckerchief, the thing with the Bear on it. Anyway, I went around to the back of the church and there was a narrow road back there and on the other side of the road was this huge Oak Tree. I got a strong signal first thing and dug down about 10 inches or so and found a barber quarter dated 1915. I moved on around the tree and got this huge bang on my detector.
18 inches in the ground and I came out with this belt buckle that had CSA on it, just like the neckerchief things did and being a dummy, I thought it was a Cub Scouts buckle. 8 years later I found out it was a civil war buckle.
My dad was a whites fan. He used to swing one back in the day around Nashville when civil was relics were scattered all over town. He said you could find any old rock wall near town and walk along it swinging and find something! That’s an incredible yet hilarious story about the belt buckle! I can definitely see why you’d think it was a “Cub Scouts of America” buckle though! That’s like the holy grail of most every relic hunter that looks for civil war artifacts. What state or area are you from?
@ I am from North Georgia, Blairsville Ga. to be exact, but the civil war was more to the west of us, but I am sure that troops probably fanned out across the state looking for Johnny Reb, which is me, and maybe stopped to drop their pants to empty their bowels and lost a buckle in the process. Who knows? The worst thing about that find was that I let a guy who knew what I had found, beat me out of it for 100 bucks, then call me a week later and thank me for that 4000 dollar buckle, because mine was the best one ever found, completely intact, because of the Georgia red clay that I dug it out of, which had preserved it whole. no marks anywhere, which also made me think it was a Cub Scouts buckle. I never went detecting with that guy ever again either. I don't like to be cheated. By the way, I live in North West Georgia now, near Summerville and probably about 1 mile from the Alabama State Line and about 35 miles from Chattanooga, Tenn. Where are you from .
@ulricspiva4450 Wow… yeah that guy sounds like a real piece of crap that ripped you off with that buckle. Hopefully he got what was coming to him. It sounds like it was an incredible find. But man, we’re basically neighbors! Haha well not quite. I live just outside of Nashville. Just south of it. Born and raised. I wish I had know in my youth how plentiful artifacts were, I would’ve gotten started a lot earlier!

Even the heartbreakers are a welcomed find on those long days with little to show for it as you know! These finds were from July or so of last year. The rolled copper piece looks like a tinkler to me. Native women would sew quite a few of them to the bottom hem of their dresses. When they walked or danced they hit together and made a tinkling sound. Some are open on both ends and some are closed and tapered like yours.👍♋

Thanks buddy! Yeah that square knife was found at a spot that usually spit out the old stuff. I’m not sure if the square knives were only used in the earlier time periods or not, but early archaic is the newest stuff that comes from that particular spot. That metal piece either hit a “rock”fish or one heck of a hard noggin! Haha

Zebra point was sick. Copper piece looks like a wrapped point. We get those and we get the tinkler cones and hair wraps too
Thanks man! I have no clue what kind of material that was, but it’s definitely something I don’t see much of around here. That metal piece is the first one I’ve found. I had an idea of what it was when I picked it up, but had to do some research to verify. It definitely looks like the copper points found farther north of here. Someone mentioned the tinkler cone earlier. They called it something different, but thought it might be one of those? I wouldn’t have a clue. Thanks for the input buddy!
That presumed metal point is intriguing! The only groups using metal were a few tribes in Michigan and they were made with copper that can be found in a near pure state there. If that's what it is, it was traded down or? Later when metal showed up many adopted it, but the rolling looks the same as the pre Columbian metal points. ALL of the finds were awesome!
When I’ve taken that piece to shows for input it’s caused a few head scratches. Everyone agrees that it looks spot on to the rolled copper points found up north. This one seems to be made of lead though I believe. A couple people thought copper, a couple people thought lead as well. For now it resides in my cabinet of curiosities! Haha I appreciate the input man, I enjoy hearing what everyone thinks!

You might be correct on that thought. After researching the old copper artifacts, the rolled copper arrowheads looked like a dead ringer. Although I’m not sure this piece is copper. Whatever it was made to fit over is about the same diameter of a pencil. I could definitely see it as an ornamental pieces as well. Thanks for the input buddy!
You found like three stemmed ones with the little banded orange gold at base of stems on thay dark green blue material. Beauties man. Good eye
Yeah, they were all found in the same general area. If they were found in the same spot I’d be inclined to think it might be a possible cache. I have 2 more found from the same spot that I found weeks after these were found. They will probably be in the next video. I have them all lined up next to each other, they look good lined up together!

Love the small gray hardaway with the red tip…we don’t find many in these parts…and the copper rolled tip is fantastic!!!…would be cool to have somebody test the metallurgy to see if it came from the Michigan source way back when or if it was a trade scrap from the historic times??
I really appreciate it man! The guys I showed it to definitely thought it to be a rolled point. Some thought lead, some thought copper. I thought copper had more of a green patina, but I’m not the pro on that! If it is lead it was likely something traded or snatched in historic times. Either way I was excited to find it!

Well, I was right about the video giving me luck! Went back to the field that I found all those celts in and found 8 whole points, a blade 15 broken points, a nutting stone, 4 hammer stones, and the best celt I've ever found! It's a rare type of rock for my area. I'm not sure what type of rock. It's a translucent brown with other rock inclusions!
I’m telling you.. you’d have a killer channel from the sound of it! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy… we just wanna see some artifacts! Stuff like that sounds like it doesn’t need commentary or anything! Those sound like amazing pieces! Hope to see them sometime!

Bro. That rolled copper piece is one of those "holy sh*t" moments lol that is insane.
rolled copper projectile is what that is i beleive but was not aware of any significant amounts of copper stuff being found in TN. Its here on some level as ive seen publications and collections with some copper relics from mid and west TN. I cannot beleive you actually walked up and eyeballed that in the surf! Lol insanelt rare find is what that is. Would 100% be curious as to the origins of the copper as well as the way its made, maybe some folks can shed some light on where/when it wouldve been made. The stylistic characteristics of hiw its rolled/pounded into shape and rolled probably are distinct to certain time period and localities maybe.
I would say it could be a flaking tool but im not sure theres any existing examples that are made that way, by rolling into shape. As far as im aware thats not how they were making the flaking tools that they did using copper. Especiqlly furthur down here in the south where copper is nowhere to be found as far as naturally occurring sources.
I have 2 other copper artifacts that I found in years past, and one has a more greenish color, the other having more of a cream color / greenish patina. This piece has more of a lead colored patina to it it seems. I took it to the KY dam show last year to get some thoughts on it. Showed it to everyone who had metal artifacts displayed. Everyone agreed that it looked like the rolled metal points. Some thought lead, some thought copper. As one guy mentioned that thought it was lead, he said although it was unusual, it wasn’t unheard of, and that they used whatever they got their hands on. I need to settle the debate on what type of metal it is by swinging my metal detector over it! Haha thanks again and as always for the input man. The finds in this video were made over a 3 week period or so, so they were all over. Some eastern middle TN, and some more middle to western middle TN. I live in the Nashville area and usually travel up to 1-1.5 hours away in any which direction when hunting, if that helps. Thanks for taking the time to check out the finds!

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to how many I might have. If I knew how many I actually have I might start to wonder if I have a problem!😂 I would roughly guess that I have close to 1,000 whole / mostly whole. No telling how many broken pieces I have. If it’s like the ratio at which I find broken vs whole, which is probably 10:1… then that means I’d have close to 10k..🤔 Surely that number can’t be right! I do have tons, but it sure doesn’t seem like THAT many! Haha

Still baffling how all the Pickwicks look like the same guy made them. They all have that one weak shoulder. You would think after a few hundred years one guy would say, "Hey, I'm going to make mine with symmetrical ears this time" Nope, just the same copy-cats over, and over, and over. Crazy
They prob accidentally made them symmetrical, but everyone made fun of it so much he destroyed it! Haha But I hear ya man… it is one of those mysteries that we’ll never have answers for! Did you get any sort of winter precipitation the other day? My uncle just north of you had some snow cover!
@Points365 Just cold rain for the last 4 days straight. Cold, but not too bad. Temps hovering around 50°.. which is miserable to us. Florida cold just Hits different. It's that kinda wet windy noreastern cold that cuts right through you. Like lake-effect cold. Miserable

Thanks man! Found that last piece on a bank as the water had recently receded. No modern trash found there. Everything from mid archaic to woodland artifacts found there as far as I can tell. I had no clue what it was when I walked up on it. I’ve learned over the years to pick up anything that looks unusual or out of place. Given where it was found I figured it record the pull just in case. After taking home and doing some research it looked exactly like the rolled copper points found more north of me. I took it to a show to get some input and everyone agreed it looked like the rolled points. Some thought copper. Some thought lead. The patina and weight make me think lead, but haven’t figured it out for sure yet. Some on here have thought it’s more likely to be an awl, which I could also see it being.
