If someone told me Julie Andrews was the queen of England, I would definitely believe them. I’d be like: “yeah, you right”
She is the queen of Genovia 😜
@@CheriiLisaaa duhh
@@CheriiLisaaa yeahhh, she is already a queen 🥰😇😍
She has that grace even in real life
Um ☠️
RIP to the actress who played oldest daughter Liesl and the actress who played the 5th daughter Louisa! So touching seeing the rest there. 🥲🥲
And to Christopher Plummer the dashing captain, and Eleanor Parker, who played the baroness.
RIP ❤😔
They shall all live forever in our memories and hearts🥺
What happened?
They died..
There is nothing more "classic" than Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music.
Mary Poppins perhaps is also a classic.
@@maudeboggins9834 So why remake them
@@bhd7721 ???. That has been remade!! OMG.
@@maudeboggins9834 it’s not really a remake, it was a sequel, but with a different actress.
Um, The Odyssey of Homer?
Definitely Julie Andrews is one of the best actress in the World, a long life to this actress.
I would add a GOOD and long life.
She is certainly one of the best singers. She, Petula Clarke & Doris Day
That we still have Julie Andrews in this world, makes this world so much happier!!! If you don't agree with me, I quote Dame Julie in "Princess Diaries 2": "Oh, Shut.....Up!!!"
@@jws1272 My Fair Lady. JA was on stage doing that & Hollywood wanted to make the movie, the Producer did not want JA but got Audrey Hepburn, lovely lady but could not sing. JA went onto win an Oscar for The Sound of Music & In her acceptance speech she thanked the producer for freeing her up for the role of Maria. A polite dig by JA after that she was Hollywood Gold. The producer was Jack L Warner of Warner Bros.
Yeah
She's the epitome of a lady with class.
That's why I love her
Agreed!
Absolutely :)
She and Audrey Hepburn
After all these years, you can see the impact Julie Andrew’s had on the SOM children and just how much they love her today, pure talent and a gracious spirit, love ❤️ Julie Andrew’s
Miss Andrews is indeed, gracious, polite, eloquent & has an outstanding singing voice.
@@maudeboggins9834
Even after the botched surgery more than 25 years ago, she still has a more beautiful voice than pretty much any star today.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face
You don’t see that every day
So different for JK Rowling, such is life today.
When she went “I’m so pleased to see you” I welled up a bit🥺🥺
could you give me the time stamp for that, please? :)

Don't forget the two brilliant songwriters who brought us the glorious music and lyrics.
The great Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein III.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for mentioning them. Their brilliant minds gave me a classic.
I’ve been a fan of them since I saw Brandy’s version of Cinderella! Their songs are one reason I come back to this movie once in a while
Agreed!!!!
Seeing the now adult children sing with Julie is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. You can just feel the love. Moved me to tears. ❤
Loved seeing this tribute to Julie Andrews, and to see her chum Carol Burnett, and the SOM children, were the icing on the cake!! I was 10 when I saw Mary Poppins for the first time with my family. Then a couple of years later The Sound of Music. What a talent and elegant lady!!
I was born the year SOM came out in the theatre's. I was about 7 when I first watched it.
I will never forget going to Sound of Music! I also was 10, and saw Mary Poppins the same year. I was so enamored with Julie Andrews, I wrote her a letter, telling her I wanted to be just like her. She will always hold a special place in my heart!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face
Some 57 years later, Duane Chase, 71 (who played Kurt), Kym Karath, 63 (Gretl), Angela Cartwright, 69, (Brigitta), Debbie Turner, 65, (Marta) and Nicholas Hammond, 72 (Friedrich) all came together, co-ordinating their clothes in black and white.
so sad knowing 2 of the cast from the siblings passed away and missed this opportunity):
Wow thanks for the info
Who here still knows the lyrics by heart? 😭🥺 Julie Andrews love you forever. ❤️
Easily!
Forever!!❤️
I learned the lyrics in music class in the first grade in 1971.
I remember all the lyrics to all of the SOM songs! My favorite movie of all time!
yes, and now my children do too. Its timeless.
Just WOW! This is the ultimate for me my heart is in my throat. This musical, the story but also THE most amazing songs. They make you want to sing so hard with such passion your heart wants to burst from your chest...."like a lark who is learning to pray" 😁❤
Lark learning to pray?? What the heck does that mean??
As a music educator, I still use this piece to teach my younger students. I love it!
I did a piano class one year in 3rd grade. That’s how I first heard the song
Julie and Carol are such best friends and living trailblazer legends. So nice to see them together again celebrating Carol's 90th last week.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face
I’m more of a fan of Julie. But I won’t forget her doing Carol’s Kennedy Center Honors tribute 20 years ago
Wonderful actor.. She looks the same as she did in Sound of Music. The smile, grace & Elegance stand out
I get emotional while they're singing DOREMI. There's a lot of what if's in my mind. I watch that movie several times that i can't even count. This movie introduced me and became the reason why i like to watch old movies especially when it is starring by julie andrews. Filipino here 💜🥺
An everlasting film indeed. Enjoyed it when I was a boy, an adult, and now a father watching it together with my children
Beautiful
I discovered it at age 13. I’m 30 now and seen it 11 times
Seeing her singing the song again was awesome.
Such a beautiful classic film that doesn't need any remake!
same with Mary Poppins that shouldnt of been made in a remake and i saw it its not the same... a well earned award for a legendary actress!!
I would be open for a remake as long as they get a Maria and Captain that can actually act and sing. And the stage version’s original song order
@@macaelatice-loma1048 If you're thinking of the movie that came out in 2018, that wasn't a remake, it was a sequel.
Julie Andrews isn't a performer, actress or singer.... she's leveled up to a goddess ❤
isn't this magical? One of the greatest musicals ever. Loved this!
I'm so happy for Julie Andrews. A long time coming.
One of the great coloratura sopranos of film. She is just stunning and incredible in every way.
Botox 💉
I couldn't think of a more deserving person for such a high honor. Julie is truly a queen of her craft and a living legend.
I’m starting to feel Christopher Plummer’s presence in here. It would never be complete without him.
Did you see him!! Audience member at 2:50! (His son maybe?)
@@5DNRG no definitely not him over there
😢He is dead.
@@AndreaMimi1984 yeah he died back in 2021 but his spirit was in the building
We need more movies like The Sound of Music!! And more actresses like Julie!!
Maybe right now more than ever with the state of the world and Hollywood
My mom who was born in the 60s, with me born in late 80s, and my cousins who were born in the 90s, would sit, watch and sing along together to SOM. The greatest and most magical musical OF ALL TIME.
Hats off to Robert Wise for making this wonderful movie. It'll be remembered as long as this Earth exists. Miss you Christopher Plummer, Charmian Carr and Heather Menzies.
tears roll down my face, This is a film that we often watch in the early 80s with great enthusiasm full concentration,........ how 3 of them are not around again really hurts... it's hard ....but anyway julie brought back smiles to our faces...growing stronger with the vocal notes
Julie Andrews is always in her best role in The Sound Of Music.
With so beautiful VOICE
I found this beautiful to watch. What an extraordinary woman she is, and how well-deserved this award!
Classic never getting old...
Julie Andrews is so iconic! So classy! She is timeless ❤️❤️❤️
this movie is simply ICONIC
Still my favorite movie. Brilliant.
So sad 2 of the children have passed away but what a wonderful tribute to a wonderful lady
Protect this woman with our lives!!!
Seeing the chums, Julie and Carol, watching over it all is so wonderful!
I’m 74 now ,I was the lead in The Sound Of Music in high school,it’s such a timeless movie and Julie Andrew’s deserves this award so much.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
This brought tears to my eyes.
Ok, this made me grin bigger than anything I’ve seen on UA-cam in a long time. Oh my heart 🥰🥰🥰
It's Julie Andrew's INCREDIBLE tone for me....this was such an amazing tribute to one of the greatest to ever do this thing called films. So glad she was given this tribute.....well well WELL deserved!
The day that legend passes away is the day the world loses the shining sun. I love her. It’s my dream to be able to meet her.
So emotional. I grew up watching this movie...seeing this video is so heartwarming, especially cause my grandmother loved this movie and unfortunately, she has left us.
What a reunion!
I own this movie (The Sound of Music) - it stil remains a classic after 50 years!
When Julie saw them enter the stage, she looked like a very happy mom, happy to see her kids!
This brought tears to my eyes 😭 I'm 30, and Sound of Music was probably the 1st musical movie I watched other than classic Disneys. Felt that in my soul ❤️ Thanks ma, for sharing that movie to us, and thanks Julie Andrews and cast for the inspiration 💞
45 years ago my elementary school music teacher taught me how to "read" music to this - to this day, this song reminds why I became a teacher..a simple song changed my trajectory in life - now I impact thousands of children's lives
One of the most incredible women to grace the earth
So wonderful to see this reunion come together. Definitely wish the other two and the Captain could have joined. Love you Ms. Andrews. Blessings.
I´ve seen this film about 1.000.000.000.000.000 times, visited Salzburg to feel the atmosphere ... Julie Andrews, I love you!!! 😍 From Brasil, with love!
One musical I can never get tired of! Bravo Julie Andrews!

Julie Andrews, you will forever be legendary and very dear to now 3 generations of my family. We love you. Thank you. ❤
