Julie is probably the most loved & respected person in movies,& television. She is such a humble, gracious lady. I'm glad I've walked this earth while she also has. Thank you Julie.
@bobbennett2602 I have loved Julie Andrews since I was 8 and, at the time, wishing she had been my mother! It's a well-known fact that that scene was very difficult to film and time was running out to wait for another clear sky to film against. A piece of 'The Sound of Music' trivia is all it is, really.
I'm so pleased she has written memoirs and gets this recognition, I love knowing that Julie will forever know how beloved she is by all her fans and peers. That her best friend Carol Burnett has always been there to share in each others' greatest achievements. That people will be talking about her performances as some of the most iconic characters on screen, and hundreds of recordings of her beautiful voice to hear. Every generation has a place for her in their hearts. I know that when my grandparents on both sides had the soundtracks for Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music, which was also the first movie my father remembers seeing when he was a child. I remember her being the level headed Queen Lillian through the shenanigans in Shrek, and how she swept the Oscars and defiantly refused a Tony when her associates weren't given the recognition she thought they deserved. We all love Julie, she's one of a kind.
Its her night, and during her acceptance speech, she showcases the scenic designers, make-up artists, lighting technicians, writers, production assistants, camera operators, sound technicians and all of the rest of those people on the end credits . We all know that great movies are made, because those people took pride in their jobs and worked long hours to make the magic happen. Certainly everyone sitting at any table there, knows its , but who else SAYS IT? Now that is real class.
@@ultraviolettasTHANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO FREAKIN’ MUCH for saying this - I was about to say something similar, but am very happy to know I am not the only one! I have never seen this singer or heard her voice before, but WOW! Clear as a bell - and sadly I could not hear her last name well enough to try to look up more of her! PLEASE! What is her name - and SO FREAKIN’ WHAT about her nose ring?!? I sure as hell didn’t care; she was LOVELY!!!
Her diction, accent and stress on consonants and vowels is unbelievable. If children need a good English teacher, Dame Julie Andrews is perfect in every way ! God bless !
Yes you're right ! Thanks to her impeccable diction, as a French who doesnt speak English completely fluently, i have been able to follow all her speech, along this show. All my love from Paris !
What a incredibly gracious speech. It reminds me of Dame Julie refusing the Tony nomination for _Victor/Victoria_ because none of her fellow actors or the creative staff were nominated and she was sure they deserved to be. Those are not mere words she uttered. When did I first see her? Probably on the Ed Sullivan Show of March 19, 1961 with Richard Burton doing excerpts from _Camelot_ . At least that's the first appearance I remember. Brava, Dame Julie. What a well-deserved lifetime film award.
Growing up in the my tiny Island of Tonga... my Mother loves this woman. Being a Mother of 11 she was a workaholic, her days start from 4:30am and bed time around 7 or 8 pm if there was no events with church, family or our village. She always busy, I never seen my Mom sitting around idle or have a nap during the day. BUT for the Sound of Music she will sit and watch with us... is the ONLY MOVIE she will sit still and watch... for that I'm so thankful for Julie and that movie...it's help my Mom to sit and enjoy a moment of joy and rest... she in now having properly dancing and sining on the gold street of Heaven.
Found this tribute to Julie Andrews so moving, delightful and well deserved by this wonderful English Lady that has stolen the hearts of many people around the world. Yet, the standing ovation for her dearest friend Carol Burnett was also very touching.
An Icon that I grew up watching, Julia Andrews💖💖💖!!!! Congratulations. So sad to see that Christopher Plummer (Baron von Trapp- father), Charmain Carr (Liesl von Trapp - eldest daughter), and Heather Menzies (Louisa von Trapp - second eldest daughter) passed away before this event 😥😥.
I don't know if I have heard such a pitch perfect voice. Absolute perfection. She has such a beautiful, elegant manner about her too. Old English that sadly no longer exists. Such a tragedy that they'll soon all be gone 😥😢😭 She was stunningly beautiful as well. Don't know why she's not given credit for that also.
You were you are and you will always be a legend. Sound of music n Mary Poppins is an all time musical classic my favourite family favourite. Thank you for your contribution and congratulations 🎉👏 mam ❤💐💐💐
So well deserved! Julie Andrews is an Amazing Human Being! Such Talent, Grace and Humility. I have loved her Always and Always Will ❤ Congratulations Dame Julie Andrews ❤❤❤
Such an inspiration! Whether it's to the little people like the majority of us or some of the more visible people on this planet, she is gracious to us with her talent and is an authentic person. That authenticity shines through when she performs and makes her art, priceless. Again, an inspiration.
My parents took me to see My Fair Lady in 1956. It was a transformative event in my life. That day i decided to either sing in the theater like Julie or become a speech pathologist like Henry Higgins. Mom encouraged me to go on the stage because who becomes a speech pathologist? So like most children i rebelled and found my profession. My only sadness is that had Julie seen someone like me instead having surgery that magnificent voice would remain
Loved Ms Julie Andrews even when I was just 4 years old hearing our vinyl long-playing album in our stereo. Studied very hard, took long years to help parents and finally found a good-paying job and did Panorama Tour's Sound of Music Tour at 55 y.o. Nobody's too old for music.
This was she was born to do this amazing talent and she has represented England as a actress as one of the greats and everyone knows her beautiful voice a very special lady and all of her films she put her all in every one
Julie Andrew has and always will be Practically perfect in every way. I have always loved Dame Julie since I was a child. She is definitely at national treasure and will be loved my so many for many more years to come. I loved her acceptance speech here, it was her night and she thanked everyone behind the scenes. That just shows how amazing she truly is, always thinking of others before herself. Xxx
Wow, I love Julie Andrews. She is elegant, humble and beautiful. The speech was wonderful. I watched her as a child in Nigeria. Now in my 50s,I have a great respect for her. My late brother in law who a music lecturer had a book on sounds of music... The lyrics and the musical notes.
Julie- I loved you as a 9 year old boy in one of my first trips to a cinema, and I still love you as an almost 70-year old man, whose greatest joy has been the gift of Music, which you first introduced me to (I wanted to be a von Trapp kid!). Your voice and screen persona made that possible, and you have blessed me & my family, far more than you will ever know. Thank you, and God bless you.
This award should have happened much earlier! An incredible super talent, gifted with unearthly charm, work ethic, a model for many in her film roles as a nanny, as a partner, as a "confidense in confidense alone".., and apparently also a warm-hearted woman! ❤from Belgium

Julie Andrews has always delivered nothing other than pure grace, class, beauty, love and pure joy in the craft of acting. Off-stage or off-screen she has been nothing short of a true Lady and Dame. Her kindness have set her apart as royalty not just to me but for her millions of fans and followers across the world. The first movie I saw her in was The Sound of Music, I can't describe the joy it brings to me listening and even singing along to every song in that movie. It makes me immensely happy to see her receive this lifetime achievement award and to see her celebrate it with her co-workers and lifelong friends. Thanks Julie for all the music, magic & memories. Julie Andrews has brought so much joy and happiness to so many people, it's expected that obstacles would be the norm in that competitive atmosphere. That's show-biz. Always has been, always will be.
