When my son was in the hospital for emergency surgery a similar jewish organization brought a magician who did tricks for him in his room. Really changed his mood for sure. They also left left toys for him )and his siblings). And they brought a handmade blanket with a little note that introduced the high schooler who made it. Years later the toys are broken or he grew out of them, but the memory of that magician stayed strong. Oh and the blanket is now too small for him but it's in his bed every night.

Hi Peter! I am so appreciative of the series you've done on the Hasidic Jewish population in NYC. I am a senior; my late mother was Jewish, father was Italian Catholic. I was raised the latter because we saw my dad's family more and also for educational purposes. During my forties, my mother was experiencing the first of many serious medical issues and this triggered a curiosity about the faith from which she was born and, according to Jewish law, the faith I share. I studied with a Hasidic rabbi and while I am still a Christian, I learned so much and it increased the bond with my mother. The Hasidic are greatly maligned and they are an easy target since they probably never see the films that depict them in a negative fashion. Once again, thanks so much!

One of the biggest things in Judaism is called achdut. It means unity and I've seen first hand people save other ppls financial, physical, mental or religious Situations to people they've never met in their life. But its not something that's exclusive to us. I've seen other neighborhoods that aren't Jewish coming up with organizations that the more fortunate ppl can donate to and anyone can volunteer. Like someone said in these comments. It doesn't matter who ur president or government is. Here in America we make our own community what it is.

Raafee Khan, I assume you mean no insult, but saying that "Jews are loaded in every regard" is actually a loaded statement that likely will not go over well with many Jews. The stereotype that Jews are wealthy is not as nice or harmless as it sounds. It's often used as an attack on Jews.
      Plus, it's not true.
But like I said, I don't think you meant any harm. I just wanted to point out how this sort of statement is perceived by many Jews. Something to think about.

This is what kinship and caring about your team is all about. Most people in hyper-individualistic societies have long forgotten what it means to be in a really healthy and friendly type of environment with members that support you in every way possible. I think being uprooted from your people is really a miserable scenario most people have to go through because an atomized individual can easily fall prey to any false ad statement that simply parasitizes his wallet and personal wellbeing. I guess building communities around faith, ethnicity, or any other type of affiliation is a must for our health and happiness.

This is great! As the mother of two children (well all grown now) with disabilities and two without it is heartwarming to see that the whole family is included. I recently heard the term "Glass Child" and sadly it is so often true, no matter how hard you try, often the healthy children have to take a back seat when you are doing everything you can just to keep the other child alive. For us the disabilities often were a 24 hour care situation and frequently financially it is difficult. When you have to decide between new shoes for a child who has a hole in the sole of their shoes or medication to keep another child alive the shoes will lose every time. So many of your videos leave me in tears (good ones that come from the heart)

The amount of good work and help the jewish people do for others inside and outside their communities is unreal but because its done so discreetly and without any fanfare or attention you'd never know it was happening sometimes. I could walk past a house where someone's getting help or help was available but you'd never know it was happening unless you asked

Wow...Unbelievable at this time in this country. No problems with finding volunteers instead of burnt-out, overworked, underpaid Social Workers whom no longer care. With ALL...The presence of God is SO REAL in all these people are, and do. Never realized how far this country has fallen until watching this series...As, it is possible for some of we older folks to remember when this display of faith in God, tradition, attitude and love of life and people was far more common.

I am now a stage 4 cancer patient and find that these videos have reconnected me to where I once lived and grew up. It is heart warming to see the community that has grown up and enveloped the minds and hearts of so many. Please keep doing what your are doing. These stories, videos and communications help to bring people together and break down the challenges that our society is facing today not to mention a tear to an old heart.
Happiest and healthiest of holidays to you and your family!
