Denise I totally agree the “BER” months are the best! I find myself just happier, more energetic and more productive! Sitting outside around a fire with a big sweatshirt knitting a pair of socks is the BEST! Good to see you back!

When I re-start knitting , after many years, my goal was to learn to make socks.
I remember my grand-Aunt , who was my knitting teacher, making socks for the all family all the time, but passed before she had the time to teach me.
Now I learned, thanks to videos and you tuber like you and I love to have a bag with a sock project all the time.
It is small and easy project to carry i can start it and stop it without forgetting and I can do socks any season of the year.

First I’ll finish a summer tee that’s still on my needles… when that’s finished I want to cast on a woolly sweater with the yarn I purchased in Bretagne whilst on holiday. I like knitting socks because one can never have too many warm socks 😀. I like knitting socks for myself, my sons, family members and friends. Knitting is a way of remembering my late grandmother. She knitted socks for others too and taught me to knit.

I love sock knitting because I love wearing hand knit socks, the yarns are so fun, and they are a great small project. I love that I can knit a meditative, simple sock or a more complex color work, lace, or cable sock - a pattern for every knitting mood :).

Excited to see you back. So glad you enjoyed your summer. I am very ready for summer to be over and can't wait for fall. I love sock knitting because it's portable and I love my hand knit socks. Just opening my sock drawer fills me with joy to see all my socks. I have many knitting plans for this fall, shawls, socks and finishing up a sweater I started two years ago. I will finish it and it will be worn this year! 🙂

In the past 2 years I recovered from a back injury and knit 27 pairs of socks! Discovered your shadow wrap heel and it’s now my favourite! My plan this fall is to perfect some other techniques but mostly to add cables. I’ve always been afraid of them , but my oldest daughter, a fabulous knitter, says,” mother! It’s just yarn!” I do have the first edition of 52 Weeks and would love the second. Thank you for this opportunity to enter!!!!

I’m addicted to sock knitting. 😊 During the past few years my stress level didn’t allow me the brain space to knit larger projects but I couldn’t survive without knitting so I learned to knit socks. They truly were a lifesaver during that time and now even though I’m back to knitting sweaters I still always have at least 2 or 3 pairs of socks on the go. Fortunately all in my family love hand knit socks. I would love to have that book, I’ve restrained myself from buying it because of budget restraints.

are to complete some of my WIPS, starting with 2 sweaters that I left off almost complete and will be perfect for fall!
I love knitting socks because they are so portable. I always have at least one pair going to keep in the car for whenever I get stuck waiting somewhere. Plus you can give them to almost anyone if you think you have too many already.

I have already marked a map with nearby Italian yarn shops and I am ready. I feel so blessed to have this wonderful adventure in front of us and I will be following you as usual on my computer. All the best to you and your family until we return to Louisiana in the beginning of December. Ciao, Bella!!

My goal for 2023 was to “master” sock knitting (if there's such a thing). I've knit 7 pairs this year, and I thought I’d had enough of socks for a while until I saw your latest video, Denise, and got enthusiastic all over again! I love sock knitting because it's relatively quick, and they’re cozy like nothing else. There is so much variety, I have dozens on my wish list. Your No Fear series is excellent and got me past some hurdles. Thank you for your guidance!

How I've missed you (even though I periodically checked your previous tutorials for one thing or another). So lovely to hear your voice and feel your enthusiasm. My love of sock knitting came from you. I was so intimidated that I would never even start them but your videos gave me hope and purpose and I have now become addicted to sock knitting, making them for friends and grandchildren as well as a drawer full for myself. I started with your Sox Exploration basic pattern and have made several pairs of your One More Step pattern. I love sock knitting because it's the perfect on the go project. I usually have a pair in my backpack or purse to work on whenever I have some free time away from the house. This year has been the year of garment knitting for me, and I intend to knit another 3 sweaters and 1 large shawl before the end of the year. I'll also be making some stuffed animals, some baby items, some mittens and hats, so I have plenty to keep me busy 😅 I still enjoy reading physical books (or eReader), but most of my reading is audio. Reading with my eyes is only good for stockinette knitting, while I can read with my ears while doing lace, cables, colorwork, etc..

Welcome back! Apparently we like the same kind of books. Historical fiction is my go to but I branch out here and there to some dystopian future or mystery. I always have an audio book going (day) and a kindle book (night) going at the same time. I recently finished the Silo trilogy (audio) and loved it! Great reader too!
    .
I’ve been knitting socks forever and what I love about that changes all the time. They’re practical; they keep your feet warm. They can be plain or fancy. They can be short or tall. They suit any gender. Knit or crochet, or combined. They fit in the smallest project bag! And fall is a great time to return to socks and everything cozy. I’ve recently become a part time wheelchair user and I’m looking forward to “taking walks” in a new way this fall. I’ve already seen so many leaves and acorns and things on the ground I’ve never noticed before. ❤

It's always great to see another enthusiastic episode from you:) I get to travel this fall and my favourite plan is to attend Unravel festival outside London & take a natural yarn dyeing class. Never done that before, it sounds like great fun. I love knitting socks because I love wearing hand knit socks, and discovering which of my friends & family are the knitworthies & also love their knit socks. I was thrilled that a friend asked to be in the sock rotation, and then her son started pining after a pair of his own so those are on the needles right now. Have a happy entry to fall!!

Happy to see you back! LOVE the Silo socks!! I love that show and was thrilled to find out that there is a book trilogy. I'm totally going to read it. Why do I love sock knitting? So many reasons. I am primarily a crocheter and knitting socks was my first knitting project ever. Every podcast I watched made it look so easy and fun. And it is BOTH! Mostly. It isn't always easy, but it IS challenging and I learn SO much. I love learning new techniques on small projects - such a small project that takes me a million hours of time for even more gain. I feel such a sense of pride and accomplishment when I finish a pair of socks. It's the best feeling, especially when I get to give them to someone I love. For my fall making plans, I am making a pair of socks for my mom for her birthday, I'm clearing out old languishing WIPs, and I am going to be casting on my very first knitted garment - Joji Locatelli's Worsted Boxy. SO MANY projects to do, so little time, and I am so excited to work my fingers like crazy to get as many of them made as I can! ◡̈

I’m finishing an extra large Honeycomb Aran for my son-in-law. So many many hours of cables! All I keep thinking is, once I finish this I can knit new socks for myself and my husband, like a palate cleanser! Then it’s back to cables for my husband who got jealous while I was knitting the Honeycomb Aran. Socks are my moment of peace and replenishment. I always do seam-free rounded toe, fish lips kiss heel, ribbed cuffs. I’m currently listening to the marvelous audiobook Middlemarch, on my tour of women authors. Thanks.

It was so nice to have you back for a bit! It took me all summer but I finally finished a pair of shorty socks for my mom. She's having trouble with lymphedema and I made her a pair of 84 Stitch socks and they actually fit without cutting into her ankle. As soon as I finish crochet request for a mr. Potato Head beanie for my niece to wear to work at a nursing home I'm going to get back on the stock bandwagon and this time I'm going to use the Garter Stitch heel flap and square heel. When I get there I might decide to do it on the toe as well. I'm just going to keep socks going and make as many pairs as I can.

Yay, Denise! SO glad to see you back! Sounds like you had a great summer...boy, it went by fast huh? Oh my gosh, I have the first 52 Weeks of Socks book and love it. It's so inspiring. I saw the sneak peek you gave of book 2....I think I swooned. You asked what do I love about sock knitting? It's never boring....NEVER. Always a new (or new-to-me) pattern to tempt my creativity and with a big yarn stash and a bunch of sock knitting needles, I'll never be at a loss for something to knit. AND I'm doing year 2 of a "12 Pairs of Socks for Christmas" for my daughter. She loved her box last year-I hope I can get 12 pair done again by Christmas day. I fell a little behind this summer so I need some catch up time. Thankfully football starts next Thursday and then every Sunday afternoon /evening I can use as knitting time while football games are on. Can't wait! What am I starting the fall knitting? Along with socks, I'll be participating in Joji's Fall KAL on Ravelry and have quite a list of shawls I'd love to make. I seem to be in that mode these days. That and the fall makes me think of cowls-bandana shaped-another favorite thing to knit. VERY lofty goals have I....and I'm planning on enjoying each and every stitch. 😃

My fall plans are to finish up a cardigan I'm knitting and get back to the socks! This time of year I start making Christmas stockings for many people (last year I made 44!). A couple years ago, after saying that I'll never knit socks because of the tiny needles and tiny yarn, I gave sock knitting a try and I love it! It took me a full year to finish my first pair because I kept putting them down but when they were finally finished, I immediately cast on another pair. They are so satisfying to make and there are so many patterns and beautiful yarns! Sock maker forever!

Hey Denise, my plans for fall are to learn how to naturally dye my yarn, I am doing a course with my youngest kid. We are so excited. Knitting wise, I want to finish my Portage cardigan, it's been on the needles since last year. Part of that has been adding length, taking breaks. I am very tall. I have one sleeve left. I am knitting myself a cowl with some beautiful yarn my kids bought me 5 years ago! Sock knitting is my on the go knitting, I can experiment with a new stitch pattern on a small object, it's my canvas to play with different yarns, patterns and construction techniques. I love sock knitting, my extended family love it too, as they get toasty warm socks! 😁

Welcome back Denise. I'm glad you had a great summer. My daughter is a September baby too. She is on the 23rd. I live in the NE too. I get so excited in September for Autumn but I refuse to decorate for Fall until after my daughters bday. Lol. Once her bday is over pumpkin and autumn galore. Time to knit, spin and enjoy the crisp air and autumn smells. Honestly, I like knitting socks because it's an obtainable goal and I don't ever feel like I'll never get the project finished.

Hi Denise, it's so good to see you back. I have been missing your smile and your enthousiastic conversation on knitting. I can feel the automnal smell in the air, we had some rain and cold weather this last week in France. My knitting plans they are many but I am rejoicing about the Falling leaves socks kal. I am currently knitting a pair of Hollinbourne socks by Charlotte Stone, in stranded colorwork, (the pattern is from the first 52 weeks of socks book...) I love them very much ! great news : I began a youtube channel with my daughter Clemence, about knitting (of course !), it's called Mulotricots.
Thank you so much for the giveaway, it's very generous !

Welcome back Denise. You have been missed. I love making socks because they are quick, yarns are amazing, and they are very portable. I had to chuckle at “the seasons of BERs “ comment. I had never heard that. Looking forward to following the insta posts to see everyone’s creations. ❤ Diane

Hi Denise. Glad you had a good summer break. Any podcast you do is a gift and not to be taken for granted:). I plan to finish knitting Advent mittens this fall for some beloveds. I like how portable sock knitting is. I just helped my husband drive from Houston to San Francisco and the sock knitting I brought kept me sane during the drive, and during the flights out of and back to Alaska.

Good to have you back, though I'm happy to hear you spent time with the family. I plan to use fall golds, and reds and copper colors in my next socks, though I have not chosen which pattern I'll use yet. I look forward to more tips!

Was so thrilled to see the notification that you’re back! My fall plans are to finish off WIPs and my Rhinebeck sweater (Tessalated Vest) so my needles will be ready for moving on to fall, winter, and Christmas knitting. I love knitting socks because they’re so portable and a small, quick satisfaction project. They are also one of the best gifts!! 😊

I was scared of it, but once I did one sock (using your video tutorials!) I fell in love. Have been making one pair each month and going strong. Happy end of Summer, beginning of ´ber months!

Glad to hear your sweet calming voice again. Knitting socks right now for son who is going to Scotland in November.
Living on the Georgia coast he seldom wears socks, but I have convinced him he only needs to take 3 or 4 pairs of wool socks for a 10 day trip. In my retirement community friends expect me to have socks on my needles whenever I am at an activity. Easy to put in a bag to always have with me and so satisfying and comfy to wear.

Books and magazines are my favorite way to get patterns. I like the physical item to hold in my hands. I like the smell, even tho that’s weird lol, and I can just grab it and open it to the page I want. It’s so good to see you again. This summer I have been visiting your sock videos. I’ve learned a new heel and how to do the heel flap differently. Thank you for taking the time to make them.

So good to see you back, Denise! I’m finally finishing my Vespertine socks from the book Salt and Timber, with the goal of being ready to cast on for your Falling Leaves KAL. I hurt my thumb at the end of June, and I couldn't knit with small needles until about 2 weeks ago. My making plans for the fall are: the Saturday Socks by Sara Opie for your KAL, to learn the mystery of helical knitting; the Slightly Sassy V tee by Aimee Sher; and continuing knitting my Artists Garden Shawl by Tif Neilan, a large scrappy shawl. I am also now spinning, and I have so much gorgeous fiber to turn into yarn. I'm going to knit myself a pair of fingerless mitts out of my handspun. I’m glad you had a good summer with your family. Like you, I am ready to put this summer to bed and get into all the fall things, especially the more pleasant temps. It’s been miserable in NC between smoke, humidity, and heat indexes well over 100°. It's time for crisp, clear days, and chilly nights around a fire. I’m hoping you’ll be getting some of that, too. ❤️ harpingJanet

I do love sock knitting so much, and even more so since I switched from my 9” circulars and my dpn’s to 32”circulars. I’ve knocked out 6 pairs this summer, and am on my 7th pair right now. I just pop them in a little bag, and can take them with me every where I go. My next project is the Rumi shawl. I already bought the yarn, and am looking forward to casting on. I’ll need the warm shawl for our Minnesota winters and the cute socks for my feet.. 🎶💞🎶
