This rendition certainly reaches the depths of Gollum’s pathos. NGL, I half expected this to be the song Gollum crooned as he was fishing near Henneth Anun.
That was so Nienna! Thank you for putting your own turn on this heartful anthem. Also, the simple device of recording against the mirror was brilliantly effective.
Many people literally don't even remember 'Gollum's Song' among the three songs written for Jackson's LotR trilogy. Which is a bummer. I love the other two, of course, but this one is so weird and haunting, perfectly tailored to Gollum/Smeagol's twisted, lonely torment. And you've done a great job of interpreting that strangeness! Hollywood is, of course, ridiculous, and the Oscars are even more so. Thus, the most uniquely original of the three soundtracks written for the three PJ movies, Howard Shore's evocative score for 'The Two Towers,' is the only one of the three that did not win an Academy Award. For my money, as good as the other two are, TTT score is the best. C'mon! The music for the Rohirrim alone, with the piteous and warped and terribly sad 'Gollum's Song,' is worth the price of entry!
I have a mental breakdown right now and I have a huge connection to this song (it always makes me cry, especially the lyrics) and I identify with Smeagol, I'm ugly, obsessive and alone, I watch your videos for over a year and I adore your work, discovering this and listening to your cover is wonderful, your voice sounds very graceful and nice, it made me very emotional and listening to it to my very recent mental breakdown made me burst into tears uncontrollably, it may be one of the last days of my life, but throughout my whole existence I will never forget Tolkien's work and when I perish, I hope I could still enjoy the world of Middle Earth in the afterlife, but I'm just naive and stupid..
please hang in there, tolkiens world to me reflects the wonders out there in our own world. we sometimes end up in our own mental mordor, and while the walk may be long, there’s still wonders outside of it (someone’s gotta find those entwives amiright)
Hey friend, I hope you remember that even if Gollum was obsessive and alone, he was important to the story because he still deserved mercy. You deserve mercy too, especially from yourself. I hope tomorrow is kinder to you, and that you can reach out to others and get the help that you need.
"It's always darkest before the dawn" I don't know what your situation is like, but I do know that there is always a way forward. And you don't have to do it alone. Take care ❤
Nice. I always assume from the melody and style of this song that production fancied Björk on the track. Not familiar with the vocalist who did the actual OST version, or if they had a hand in the composing, but the song writing is reminiscent of Björk compositionally. But also reminds of Cerys Mathews another 90s contemporary with a similar quality.
Wow, nice job! I can't understand how you find time to record music when you already put so much effort into hobbitry? By the way, you have a lovely singing voice.
That was an amazing unique take on this tragic song. I loved it. Well done.
That's so kind! I really appreciate the comment

I want that next!
That has to be one of the saddest songs ever written. I start crying immediately once it begins.

I never knew there was such a song. It was beautiful. Thank you!
It is the end credit song for Peter Jackson's "Two Towers"
@@andreasderycke42 Thank you! I've seen the film meny times, but I must have shut my brain off by the time the credits and the song started.
That was lovely! And impressive that it’s the first time recording.
Wow!!! Your voice is like magic elven son that can make you travel somewhere in middle Earth ❤ thank you for sharing this with us 🙏
I discovered your work by making random research... I'm very impressed, congrats !
This was very well done, it's cool to see someone experiment and I'm glad you shared it with us

The Doctor was here.
Damn guess I’m not the only musical theatre kid who likes Tolkien (there are many). All seriousness though that was amazing
Love your voice!
Damn, you’re a good singer, Jess.
Didn't know this theme had lyrics. Good job.
