@@LoLInterNo1 that's not something "childish" and "simple", doesn't fit luffy's personality. It's heavily fits the pattern that Luffy wants to hold the biggest party ever, which fits because he holds a party on every end of arc.
I think Roger didn't say that he'll be king of pirates cause in his Era before he found laugh tale the "pirate king" wasn't a thing. So he definitely didn't talked about it

When he was a kid its still not revealed what he said. Whatever he said was the same as what Roger said and Roger DIDNT want to be pirate king, being pirate king was just something that HAPPENED. Whatever Luffy and Roger wanted its not to be pirate king
For Luffy, becoming pirate king is just a means to an end for whatever his ACTUAL dream is and whatever it is, Roger apparently desired the same thing.

@@katanime619 It's likely a combination of both of those ideas. Because what happens after every arc, after Luffy frees whatever island he's on? A giant party follows, because everyone has been freed, and most of the time it's freed from things other than just oppression.

I remember in saboady arc when luffy said to Rayleigh ‘the person with the most freedom runs the sea’s’ something along that line and Rayleigh was quite shocked because I think that’s what roger said.
I think roger and luffy's dream is something that only someone with the most freedom can do, so first they need to be someone with the most freedom

Currently the most popular theory for Luffy's and Roger's dream is "I'm gonna have a party with the whole world".
You know how literally in every arc Luffy wants to throw a party, and each time it gets bigger and bigger, and before this raid of Onigashima started, Luffy said "Lets have the biggest party yet after this is over", and Sake had extremely big role in the One Piece as it brought people together and united them and it was always present at the parties, at the end Luffy might throw the biggest party in the world and share sake with everyone and unite the whole world into "One Peace".
(by the way, One Piece could easily be multiple things, as in Japanese, the whole name of One Piece is actually "The Great Hidden treasure of One Piece" and it has many different meanings when you learn to read Japanese for example - "One sea at peace" "Something that connects people" and it also could mean the "Rope"(i guess this represents the journey itself as on the logo of One Piece you could see the Strawhat skull biting the rope that is tied to the anchor - as if Strawhats were always meant to reach the end of the destination - so One Piece could actually be Sake, it could be "All Blue" because it is the one sea and it could be whole world in peace without any discrimination and slavery). I have another theory on what One Piece could actually be and it actually is only 1 particular thing, but it connects very beautifully with the whole meaning of the "One Piece", fits the themes and i have 3 scenes from manga that back it up, i'm waiting for the end of Wano to see if something else will pop up that might confirm my thoughts. I've had this thought for over 5 years, and only in Laugh Tale flashback of Oden/Roger and in recent few chapters did i see few clues that confirm my theory. But i'll leave my thoughts for me.... for now. (i've actually seen people talk about the same thing i'm thinking, but they've never actually gave it any thought, or saw how it could be done very beautiful, and they missed the clues, so most of the times it just went under the rug).
"I'm going to be pirate king?" Would be pretty weird for Roger to state that when pirate king wasn't even a thing
Luffy and Roger probably said "I'm gonna turn the world Upside down" or "I'm gonna have a banquet with everybody / every race and have fun" which is such a Luffy thing to do
Tonnes of people have said they were going to be the pirate king. Most of Kaido's headliners are ex-captains who said the same thing.
Roger did not say he was going to be the king of the pirates. When he read that in a newspaper after leaving Laughtale, it was new to him.
They said exactly the same thing.
It's not just freedom. That's basically the same as being the pirate king. It's a means to an end. It's not something the kids would laugh at, and it's not something that would stun Oden.

BTW Because roger stated the exact same thing my theory for a while was.That Luffy stated as a kid.That he will be the person with the most freedom"Witch in a way predicts him likely after the yonkou taking down the WG for good". It also fits with Rogers character who was also someone who was stated to never run away by Rayleigh.And in a way the WG is taking the freedom from the entire world and Luffy is someone who is assossiated with Liberation. So him wanting to have the most Freedom is something that fits with his character.And when i say liberation i mean so far he has saved multiple islands who were oppressed eather From the Shichibukai or in the cases of Enies Lobby,Impel down and Marinefort(He in a way was there to Save a person who he has a connection to).He went directly against the WG.
They didnt say "to become pirate king" in that flashback because they were saving that line for the very end of the episode.
And IMHO it worked perfectly that scene was so much more impactful because that line haven't been repeatedly told through the episode.

The title "Pirate king" came from the paper, Roger never heard that title before the world acknowledged him as the pirate king, so there's no way it was Roger's goal.
BM, Kaido and BB want to be the pirate king, Kidd and lot of new comers say that words too, but there's a line that only said by Roger and Luffy.
I just finished reading his manga, and Luffy said he wants to be in a world where no one is hungry and can eat to his heart's content.
There would be no reason to hide what luffy said if it was "I'm gonna be the pirate king". Also, Ace and Sabo Wouldn't laugh at that because they already knew luffy wanted to be the pirate king
Right after that scene, Ace clearly admitted that he and Sabo laughed at Luffy when he said he was gonna become the Pirate King, before they started to believe in his dream. Rewatch the episode again and see for yourself. They hid those amazing speeches to make it look more epic. Everytime someone in one piece talks about becoming Pirate King, everyone who hears it reacts to it, because it's not something anyone can talk about so lightly.

@@calixondzie it was clearly stablished that luffy and roger had the exact same dream and there was not a pirate king before roger. It doesn’t make sense for roger’s dream to be the pirate king if that wasn’t a thing at his time. He became the pirate king, but that wasn’t his dream.
Ace admitted that he and sabo laughed at what luffy said, wich was the hidden dialogue. Again, it makes no sense to hide a dialogue if the audience already knows what it is

@@thebasedone2182 Roger had the goal to become King of the Pirates and make a name for himself through that big deed. Why would he otherwise need Oden to get to the last island of Raftel? Because the one who reach the last island of Raftel is the one who is to be named King of the Pirates.
So Roger had the goal to become it, Luffy had the dream to become it.
It's a very beautiful sync when you put them together. That's what I mean when I say that the intention of hiding that statement is for both the manga and the anime to be portrayed epically.

Luffy and Roger aren't the only ones who said they wanna be pirate king though. We saw many villains say that too so it can't be that.
I'm pretty sure others will say the same, but Roger is confirmed as not having the ambition to be King of The Pirates. It wasn't even a title until after he conquered all the seas and even then, it was a title forced on him by everyone else around him. I think both Luffy and Roger said the same thing, but it was that they wanted freedom. To be the freest on the seas. It doesn't make sense for Roger to say what Luffy says about wanting to be King of The Pirates if that title wasn't even a thing and wasn't something he ever claimed to be.

The title "Pirate King" only came into existence after Roger arrived in Laugh Tale and this flashback happened before that. Also, what's the point of hiding that line when Luffy is saying it since the very first episode? they're talking about something else, something that only a child would say. What I believe they said is something about give the most awesome party ever, with every species and the whole world partying. A child's dream and it fits very well with the simplicity that Luffy and Roger have.
The more and more I think about it the more logical this sounds, I'm 100% convinced this is it, also ties very well with the cup scene before the raid to onigashima
Hello I have a suggestion. The Penthouse: War in Life, it has 3 seasons. This is an underrated drama and has an interesting storyline, it all started when a girl fell from the 47th floor of Hera palace. Then the Hera club members covered up her death by saying it's suicide, then one of the hera club members finds out that the girl that fell is her daughter. And the revenge starts there. This drama is very frustrating and stressful, it will make your blood boil.
We'll definitely check it out soon, we got recommended this drama months ago and it's on our list, we plan to start tomorrow and descendents of the sun first because they won past polls but definitely after we finish those we'll check this series out

Remember the Navy titled Roger as King of the Pirates, even though there wasn’t a term for KOTP it’s possible Roger created the term still but I believe it’s “King of the World” something children say and people say today on big boats which came from the movie Titanic which could explain why they laugh as it’s a childish dream and The King of the World could be considered the most free person in the world too

In sabaody Arc when Rayleigh tells Luffy he meets Shanks here 10 Years ago in flashback Shanks say " There was a kid in East Blue who said the exact same thing Captain Roger said.. Those exact same words as the captain" at Roger era Pirate King Title doesn't exist so there's other words he keep saying and same as Luffy

It's never been reveled in the manga but Luffy probably said a ridiculous dream that would only come from a child since Ace and Sabo didn't want people to laugh at it. Roger said something similar many chapters ago that made his crew laugh with joy and asked if Roger was a child for saying something so ridiculous. My favorite theory is that Luffy and Roger wanted to throw the most insane and greatest party of all time for all of their friends and it can only be achieved after becoming the greatest pirate crew in the world.

What I think both of them said will be about freedom, it's either "I'm gonna be the person with the most freedom" or "I will free the world", I think about this because most thing that Luffy experienced and said has something to do with it, even back in Sabaody, he said he don't want to conquer anything, he want to become pirate king because he will be the most free person or something like that, whatever they said, I think it will be something related to that.

Roger wouldn't have had "Become Pirate King" as his dream because no one had been called the Pirate King until Roger got to Laugh Tale, after which Roger was dubbed Pirate King. So Roger and Luffy's dreams are something that has never been said out loud before. They always tease us by cutting the words off.

Not a chance he said he would become the pirate king as a child. Because he said the same thing as Roger, which is confirmed not to be "the pirate king". Roger himself, before becoming pirate king, never aimed to be the pirate king. It was something the people called him. What Luffy and Roger said wouldn't have been kept secret like this if it was "I want to be pirate king" because that's something Luffy has said time and time again.
It's not yet revealed what Luffy and Rogers real dream is. Luffy's being the pirate king is a goal not a dream. It's Probably to throw the biggest banquet the world has ever seen and everybody is invited.

nobody knows Luffy's dream. It isn't becoming Pirate King, at least not in that scene. A popular theory, because it works for Luffy and Roger is, that they want to share sake and become family with the entire world, or maybe just something along the lines of, I want to throw the biggest party the world has ever seen.
