Greetings Guys, What a wonderful topic... I strongly agree with masculinity in protecting my family... I grew up in The South Bronx in NYC and it showed me the importance of survival mode in and out home. I moved to Puerto Rico were put into practice knowledge home safety and urban safety. I live through several big hurricanes. After hurricane Maria the island was without electricity for several months we had several home invasion across the island my two front neighborshad their cars broking into so I spent my nights on watch with a 50 caliber big bore air rifle and my dog, emergency lights all around my home. You might think an air rifle? But I practice during that time several drills I was a dead shot at 50 yards and kept my reload under 5 seconds. I kept a communication with my neighbors by a couple cheap scanner radios.
Everything I've heard from you guys was great information that people need to know.. I live in a one level apartment so I'm limited to things that I can do.. But I did what I could do.. I've covered my windows to keep the glass from flying along with better window locks.. Reinforced my front door with better locks and bolt locks.. 3 inch screws in everything.. Video cam's front and back and yes , my dog.. She's better than anything , she'll let us know if a Fly is outside of the door. 👍
Watch dog is a yapper dog, a barker and a good early warning device. A guard dog is a good protector dog capabable of defense and early warning. Use both types of dogs. 2 guard dogs and 2 watch dogs. Dog houses in plain site with dog signs posted.
I plan to bunker in as long as I possibly can. I can’t walk very far because of my disability. My scooter’s battery won’t last long. The best I can do is load my bug out gear and some food in my wagon and walk as far as I can then rest and repeat.
Stairways are a great funnel. It gives you an angle advantage and reduces the likelihood of crossfire hitting neighbors when you are aiming down the stairs. Just make sure you have a backup escape route for your upper floors.
You guys should do these group things MORE often--- the group wisdom and common sense speaks volumes of your experience, training and prepared thinking. Thank you.
My German shepherd mix has two main barks. She has her “something’s going on” bark which cues me to look outside, then she has her “I will eat your soul” bark which means grab a gun.
Imagine an intruder trying to find his way through the Winchester House. A staircase that ends against a solid ceiling. One door opens above a kitchen, if you go through it you have a nice fall.
Watching how each of your eyes light up thinking about your wives was truly a testament to the love that it takes to be willing to put yourselves in your danger for their benefit. That is 100 chivalry and not anything negative.
Here's my perspective on the masculine thing. I've been married twice and still with my second and forever. In my first marriage I was the "totally independent" I can take care of myself blah blah. While I'm still independent and for the most part if I do have to defend myself I can decently handle many situations. However, my husband of 20 some years now opens doors for me and he takes care of me in a lot of ways. I've found our individual strengths compliment us. So I'm all for the traditional role of my husband being the protector and so forth.
Great video. I’m an LEO here in Ontario Canada and not even police are allowed to own a handgun. My 20 years experience is in k9 and tac as well as working the street. My personal GSD is a tool. He’s a deterrent as well as a way to buy me time. The liability is huge. Not everyone can handle a working dog. One thing I did do is taught him to track like my service dog. Never know when you may need to hunt someone down
I’ll put plastic up on my windows to deter any flying glass, and wood on my basement windows. Thanks for the pointers, feeling pretty well secure in my surroundings. Everyone, take care and be safe in these questionable times.
One thing that comes to mind as a concern. If you are going to bunker in the bedroom or have your spouse bunker in the bedroom, they should avoid being directly behind the door and instead take an angled position. Unless your bedroom door is bullet proof you run the risk of someone shooting through the door and hitting you if you are sitting directly behind it.
Canines are amazing alarms. The motion lights, cameras and ammo are a must!! The swale recommendation is a great idea and we're in the process of adding our thorny friends, the ones that have an edible fruit are amazing and acceptable in neighborhoods!
100% on letting your dogs alert at the door. I encourage my boxer to bark at noises. She looks at me and gets excited because she knows she is doing a good job and she will get petted for it.
I am a woman, I am the nurturer, the bo bo kisser and the on my knees in prayer lady.....BUT I am also (in conjunction with my husband) the DEFENDER AND THE PROTECTOR of our home and property! We are BOTH tactical and drill frequently on different scenarios.....THIS is what its all about!! Working in conjunction together to take down the enemy!!!!!!!
I agree - no signs you may have guns. The only signs I would put out would be - we have cameras. Make sure you have plenty of fire extinguishers - just in case. We have a security door in front - getting one for the back door. Will also be putting up shatter-proof plastic on the windows & glass sliding doors. Wives SHOULD be trained & prepared to be the partner in defending the home - I am! Some of us are more than just cooks & house cleaners. Great idea - paintball gun - as long as your partner is near-by with the real thing. Some invaders are so full of adrenalin that a paint-ball may not stop them. Thank you guys - this was a great video - one that all of America SHOULD have watched. Judi.
Guys you dont understand how much you are right about the dog situation i work for the post office and no matter what you do you cannot sneak by a small dog and nothing will scare you more than a roar of a large dog that you dont know thats there
Great round table discussion. Agreed with almost everything. Stick built homes are junk. We live in a area with a lot of block and brick homes and metal roofs. Dogs are great we have a 173 pound Boerbel dog who is naturally protective of wife and grandkids. Lights are easy adds as are video surveillance options.
6 ft wide trench, 6 ft high mound, barbwire, boards under windows with nails, lose barbwire, bb traps and alarms on all entry pnts, dead falls, constitina wire. have lots of fire extinguishers, and pump up sprayers handy.. ceramic tile glued to shutters can help bullet proof, sand bags. just to name a few
In the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian the homes that had dogs in the yard didn't get looted . Hundreds of homes and businesses were looted , but as far as I know not a single looter shot dogs to get into a home . They were after easy targets and avoided homes with any type of dog . Also doors here swing out , so they can't be kicked in like the doors I the USA. That's something to think about changing
That's good to know, one thing I've noticed a good watch dog will alert you no matter what, there are times people get so scared they cannot say anything, a burglar wants to remain hidden and discreet, dogs don't give a shit about discretion
Being a "Hard target", can also be a double edged sword. When I see a property all hardened up; fences, lights, cameras, tactical landscaping etc. I immediately think, "Now there is someone with something to protect!". Which can have the exact opposite effect of security. Yes, most bad guys are lazy but let's face it. If they want something bad enough, or are desperate enough you WILL get your turn in the barrel.
As far as signs... I would say maybe one of the things we can do as a neighborhood is post several signs maybe with a solar powered walk way lights at the sidewalks not directly in front of someone's house, saying "This block is armed and we are trained to not miss"
Excellent guys 😊 I have a flock of geese that guard the back wall across the whole house and a small 2ac paddock adjoining. Even better when they're nesting 😂 lol. For the other 3 sides of the house and orchard there are 15 Kelpies. These are Australian farm work dogs, HIGHLY ALERT, HIGHLY ACTIVE, very vocal if someone is about. Mine are trained as work dogs for stock ( cattle, sheep, poultry etc) they're also trained as watch or guard dogs (depending on dog) are exceptional hunters and are FAST with massive endurance, can jump and climb. Fantastic agility and ability. Weighing between 18 - 40kg each, depending on sex, build and genetics, and of course individual appetite. Super smart, super devoted and loyal. You can distract one dog, even two, but no one gets past 15 plus 30+ geese. They watch part of the property and the neighbours place too. Thanks for all the great suggestions. P.S. I love raised garden beds, interesting livestock fences and especially swales. Have a great day from Australia 😊
As far as signage on your home or vehicle. I think it would be a good idea 2 learn Fema paint markings. That suggests there are dead in home or disease at this place or already searched markings
In the event that we are in full on SHTF and living under WROL in place of law and order, I don't think anyone is going to care about what the laws 'were'. Right now, criminals do not care about those laws and we all are 'encouraged' to depend solely on LE. Coming from a multi-generational family that is military and/or LE (some are both), I have respect for the Constitution and the law. I have respect for all military/LE that respects that Constitution and local laws. WORL means those LE and military I know will keep that respect unless they drop the COTUS. I don't live in an HOA. I have planted my yard so that it is funneled (what you just called fortficational landscaping), although not with concrete ... idea filed away. We do have quite a few thorny items, along with vines that weave through them around our fence line. We have coated the majority of our windows, and we have shutters both inside and out. We bought the longer lock plates and screws for our doors, and we have a drop bar that we can install already premade and ready. On the subject of fire, there is eXP Fire-Shield Sheeting. Expensive, but in an urban area where fires may be a huge problem, and for those who have hardened their home, that along with a metal roof and secured windows have a much better chance of not being burned out.
There is a film product out there that supposedly makes the glass unbreakable. It was mentioned and shown in some security program years ago where they were going through the process of hardening homes. It is probably expensive though.
Dogs are great early warning and bad guy identifiers, you the owner are the force on force response." Forget the dog, beware of the owner" is the operative principle.
Thank God there are still men in the world that act like men. I married one, but out here in California, you all are a rare breed. Here here to meat eaters and great suggestions regarding tactical awareness/training as spouses. Any suggestions on preferred training programs/etc?
My father an ex police chief and he said empty your gun through your door prior to opening the door once you actually see the the intruder you are now you have to decide how much force is excessive force!
Letting your house look abandoned now days is more of an invitation to be broken into. It is common for fire burned houses to be used by druggies both as a domicile and looking for things to loot. In addition you're seeing more instances of squatting going on in homes that have been abandoned or empty for a while.

34:50:00 west coast central Florida checking in. I agree with the statement anything below spring hill even. Luckily for us we're in the farm lands. My only concern is the veterans express Hwy is being pushed north and we're about 45 miles from I75 being the main HWY.
There was a time, Decades ago..I was arrested for protecting my family. We were having a family / friend gathering ..good times. A houseless guy walked in , no one knew who he was.. He was asked by my sister to leave...he wouldn't ... I gave him some food, drinks and walked him to the road. a few minutes later, I heard my sister yell that someone threw something through the kids bedroom window on the second floor.. She ran up stairs, I ran outside...and saw the guy standing there, in a threatening manner, he was holding something in his hand.... I didn't even think , i reacted ...and football charged him...tackled him.. He threatened to kill me...I went into the red black zone..and kicked him a couple of times... He got up and ran away....i gave him chase and tripped him and he fell on his face. I continued to give him a beat down and yelling at the same time, "Someone call the cops, this guy is getting beaten up" 4 police cars, one fire truck and an ambulance showed up.... I was handcuffed and put in the police car...he was taken to the hospital in stretcher. Today I regret using excessive force...he lived and I learned he broke out of the hospital and continued to commit deadly assaults on others... , until he was recaptured and put in prison. I am a god fearing citizen...I respect family, friends ..I appreciate the police and their service to the community.....but it is amazing , how all this can disappear, when family is threatened. Today I hope to be less aggressive , in my efforts to protect family.
I practiced law more than thirty years if you have dog(s) don’t have signs saying warning dog(s) because if they bite someone they can sue you your signs say we have dangerous dogs that means it is your responsibility to hold your dogs at bay!
On topic of shtf pre shtf stay gray man ...once things have started the first looter in a major shtf / teotwawki gets a " position of honor" ( preferably in a gated community gate or entry path not a lawn) the " position of honor" is to be an impaled rotting corpse circa Vlad Tepes.
I agree that fire is the nuclear option. Why do we assume fire won't be the first choice for a SHTF attacker? Unless the attacker knew some specific desired item was inside, it seems like irrationality will rule. They'd fight with fire from the start.
When shtf once looters are deterred by guns, dogs or fences their frustration might lead to burning your property. A single molotov cocktail can destroy years of preparedness.
we put window film on our windows for heating/cooling cost, uv, and privacy...an old house we used to live in "seatled" and the window cracked but didn't fall out...it stayed in the frame.
I think if SHTF, putting a “U Loot, we Shoot” sign at the entrance to your neighborhood might be a deterrent without drawing attention to your specific property.
I'm wondering about pepper spray. Like how about making a strip of tubing or hose with pressurized tank of pepper juice with soap added to it for sticking abilities. Kind of a mister that can shoot 5-10ft.
Had several ideas to share in the discussion. Toppy tippy bee hive, trick leg can be triggerd with trip wire in your blind spots that intruders wont want to del with, bees are especially vicious at night! ChEmical nauseating smells such as Cadaverine or Putrescine which are the smells from decaying human remains, lots of ways to deploy this. Viles, water type ballons, sprayers etc. Stay safe Cheers
I like a bright, 2000 lumen flashlight for my first line of "self defense". Someone comes in and met by a bright light straight to the eyes? That gives me the few seconds I need 😏😏😉

Video cam's front and back and yes , my dog.. She's better than anything , she'll let us know if a Fly is outside of the door. 👍
Yes, dogs - definitely a dog or dogs.
Keep sharing the knowledge please. Learning alot and makes me think outside the box. Thank you!
E with my Mal/Shepherd cross... oh, and the "play with me" bark
"I will eat your soul" bark. I love it!
@@madbombermike mine has that one too
Imagine an intruder trying to find his way through the Winchester House. A staircase that ends against a solid ceiling. One door opens above a kitchen, if you go through it you have a nice fall.
The Best fight is the fight that never happens 👍🏼
I'm a veteran of two branches of military and you guys done a great job of explaining sinarios, practice, train, stay ready....
We must expect the unexpected, situation awareness. I'm alone, but train constantly. Wish my friends would take this seriously.
Great video. The little dog wakes up the big dog and the big dog chews your leg off. 😂
My favorite tool is light, motion and constant.
Canines are amazing alarms. The motion lights, cameras and ammo are a must!! The swale recommendation is a great idea and we're in the process of adding our thorny friends, the ones that have an edible fruit are amazing and acceptable in neighborhoods!
If you can grow Jujube trees in your area - do it. The fruit is amazing! Our two tore my t-shirt yesterday. Those thorns are sneaky. Judi.
Thanks so much for the info gentlemen. Semper Fi.
What an interesting episode particularly about the ever usefulness of man’s best friend.
I'm so glad someone mentioned that the dog barking is doing their job! I have a black belgian malonois and she brooks shit from no one.
You guys are doing a great job. I appreciate everything you guys say.
Judi.
Little dogs alert the big dogs.
Chris is "Spot on"
:)
Soil mounds are needed
Always good to see other Aussies on here
I believe the "You loot, I shoot" signs only deter amatures. I agree with not advertising.
As far as signage on your home or vehicle. I think it would be a good idea 2 learn Fema paint markings. That suggests there are dead in home or disease at this place or already searched markings
Love this, learned soooo much, Thank you to all of you, take care, be safe.
Our pleasure!
This was great, it provided information I hadn't thought of as passive aggressive defense, when you mentioned the thorn bushes and cactuses!
Excellent video... with outstanding ideas....
Thank you
There is a new screen one can install in their windows which is suppose to be more trespassing deterrent . Metro Screenworks I think was the company.
There is a film product out there that supposedly makes the glass unbreakable. It was mentioned and shown in some security program years ago where they were going through the process of hardening homes. It is probably expensive though.
Great video. Thanks
Sea Buckthorn is a nice thorny tree to have to. We live in town but are going to plant several around the parameter of our yard.
Great information, very thought provoking and much appreciated gentlemen. Thank you all.
I want men to be men and women to be women. Love having a man protect me. Thank you guys.
What about wire strung with cans containing some rocks inside to rattle when touched with a leg - will alert the dogs?
Solid advice, thanks guys.
4 or 5 ar 500 silhouette rifle targets slipped between closet walls. Makes a hell of a keep, to fall back to. Considering most D-Bags carry pistols.
Thanks for your service fellows
Dogs are great early warning and bad guy identifiers, you the owner are the force on force response." Forget the dog, beware of the owner" is the operative principle.
Thank God there are still men in the world that act like men. I married one, but out here in California, you all are a rare breed.
Here here to meat eaters and great suggestions regarding tactical awareness/training as spouses. Any suggestions on preferred training programs/etc?
My father an ex police chief and he said empty your gun through your door prior to opening the door once you actually see the the intruder you are now you have to decide how much force is excessive force!
Thank you
Love your content. Thank you and God bless all of us. Would like to know how local law enforcement will deal with chaos, looting and civil unrest.
Letting your house look abandoned now days is more of an invitation to be broken into. It is common for fire burned houses to be used by druggies both as a domicile and looking for things to loot. In addition you're seeing more instances of squatting going on in homes that have been abandoned or empty for a while.
A pastor who knows how to shoot is a double bonus!
Thanks guys
Excellent topic. Thank you.
You should also consider timeline of deterenence. Day one is way different than day five. Day 5 if way different than day 30. Do a timeline.
Excellent point!
New to the channel and been listening to all the preps and feeling confidently aware. Live close to the Texas Gulf Coast outside Houston in the burbs. Really looking for like minds....I am helping a friend with her preps as she cant convince her daughter to become aware so she is prepping for all on fixed income. Always seeking connections for communication.
Please reach out.
I gave him some food, drinks and walked him to the road.
a few minutes later, I heard my sister yell that someone threw something
through the kids bedroom window on the second floor..
She ran up stairs, I ran outside...and saw the guy standing there, in a threatening manner,
he was holding something in his hand....
I didn't even think , i reacted ...and football charged him...tackled him..
He threatened to kill me...I went into the red black zone..and kicked him
a couple of times...
He got up and ran away....i gave him chase and tripped him and he fell on his face.
I continued to give him a beat down and yelling at the same time,
"Someone call the cops, this guy is getting beaten up"
4 police cars, one fire truck and an ambulance showed up....
I was handcuffed and put in the police car...he was taken to the hospital in stretcher.
Today I regret using excessive force...he lived and I learned he broke out of the hospital
and continued to commit deadly assaults on others...
, until he was recaptured and put in prison.
I am a god fearing citizen...I respect family, friends ..I appreciate the police and their service to the community.....but it is amazing , how all this can disappear, when family is threatened.
Today I hope to be less aggressive , in my efforts to protect family.
Your response was not over the top to me
I say u didn't overreact
You did great!! The law is corrupt
.....yet ANOTHER case of a citizen getting abused by cops and railroaded by the (in)justice system.
My condolences.
I practiced law more than thirty years if you have dog(s) don’t have signs saying warning dog(s) because if they bite someone they can sue you your signs say we have dangerous dogs that means it is your responsibility to hold your dogs at bay!
Great job very informative , all great information, videos like this help everyone, keep them up 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸😎🌴🌴
Look into bigger strike plates for your doors, Defender Security sells a 9 screw strike plate for like 8 bucks!!
Thank you for this valuable information 🇺🇸🙏
On topic of shtf pre shtf stay gray man ...once things have started the first looter in a major shtf / teotwawki gets a " position of honor" ( preferably in a gated community gate or entry path not a lawn) the " position of honor" is to be an impaled rotting corpse circa Vlad Tepes.
I agree that fire is the nuclear option. Why do we assume fire won't be the first choice for a SHTF attacker? Unless the attacker knew some specific desired item was inside, it seems like irrationality will rule. They'd fight with fire from the start.
PS: Please consider an entire show on fire defense.
Fantastic idea!
When shtf once looters are deterred by guns, dogs or fences their frustration might lead to burning your property. A single molotov cocktail can destroy years of preparedness.
Good inciteful info, thanks guys!
Good discussion, firewood backstopped by books stacked in a dresser or night stand makes for a good replacement when sandbags aren't available.
A 2 x 4 wall with plywood instead of Sheetrock and filled with 1/2 inch to 3/4 gravel will stop center fire rifle rounds
Cool video thanks.
🇦🇺😎👍Interesting content
we put window film on our windows for heating/cooling cost, uv, and privacy...an old house we used to live in "seatled" and the window cracked but didn't fall out...it stayed in the frame.
I think if SHTF, putting a “U Loot, we Shoot” sign at the entrance to your neighborhood might be a deterrent without drawing attention to your specific property.
Right on!!
Great discussion guys!!..........thanks
Snow geese for an alarm
I'm wondering about pepper spray. Like how about making a strip of tubing or hose with pressurized tank of pepper juice with soap added to it for sticking abilities. Kind of a mister that can shoot 5-10ft.
Just came across your channel a few weeks ago. Glad I did!! Great conversations!!
Thank you guys so much, I got a lot of great info outta this, please do the 1 on team building tho
If there are no specific restrictions i would suggest cultivating a perimeter of giant hogweed
Bad bad idea. Hogweed is highly toxic and evasive and will render your land forever useless for agriculture.
Concertina Wire is a good deterrent. Make your own flashbangs.
Stay safe
Cheers
Tipping a bee hive.....
A VERY active imagination.
Longer screws in door hinges, security storm door on front, dog, always carrying.
Great convo fellas. Very helpful
I like a bright, 2000 lumen flashlight for my first line of "self defense". Someone comes in and met by a bright light straight to the eyes? That gives me the few seconds I need 😏😏😉
