A tip for covering stuff up - you can use AE2's facades on GT cables and pipes! Simply combine a holystone with a cable anchor on on each side in a crafting table, and you'll get holystone covers that attach right in the same block space. Works for machine sides as well, just like plates.
I believe that if you buy the final trade once and close the GUI, *no shift clicking*, villagers have a chance to refresh their trades after each buy, so that might be worth doing for particularly rare or important villagers like the simmering combs. I'm not certain though, it's been years since I worked with pre-1.14 villagers in any technical capacity.
Second to this information's correctness. Each purchase of the final trade item will cause a villager to refresh their trades. Do note that only trades that are fully out of stock will actually restock.
Yep, each time you buy a trade it has a chance to refresh a locked trade, and each time you buy their current last trade it has a chance to unlock another trade (which has a small chance to be their final trade). Technically so long as they have no other trades available the chance for a trade to lock is 0, but due to some buggy coding, there's a very small chance to lock their first trade without unlocking their second trade, which can render them useless for anything but breeding...
Considering your slime farm, it's probably a good idea if you haven't yet to go through the questbook and get into the LV page. That'll have a good amount of rewards.
In 2.7.0 there are now more steam mutliblocks. You already have a Steam Grinder (macerator) and most likely know about Steam Oven (furnace). Other than that there is Steam Separator (centrifuge), Steam Purifier (ore washer), Steam Blender (mixer), Steam Presser (forge hammer), Steam Squasher (compressor). There is also a new Water Pump multiblock, that uses steam to generate more water.
An alternative for the hobgoblin is the rock breaker machine, which is a cobble, stone, and obsidian generator. Then you can use a forge hammer / the forge hammer steam multi to convert that into gravel and sand.
Besides the grinder, there's also the steam oven which does 9 parallel smelting per oven multi. Well worth with a pretty low steam consumption if you're trying to setup something like a potin line.
Steam grinder is the beast in the early game stages XD It's expensive as hell, but thanks to it, you can speed up the processing by a lot. Also, bees are my guilty pleasure XD It takes a lot of time, to develop them to the point, of making them useful, but I just can't stop myself XD
Heads up but the steam tier multiblocks all have a steel tier for materials, which is twice as fast but for twice the steam consumption. They're very much worth it if you can keep up the steam input and throughput.
You could always just move the water block below the thirsty tank and the thirsty tank itself up one block so there's two blocks between it and the air. edit: also, the steam grinder can later be upgraded by simply changing the machine casings to solid steel machine casings once you've got the resources. Most steam-tier multiblocks can be upgraded like this. I believe it still does 8x items in parallel but cuts down processing time
for the simmering comb villager shooting it with a coockie arrow may work to reset the trade since the villagers keep their trades even if they turn into babies.
I'm not sure if that'll work, seeing as the mystery arrow code basically just amounts to: " Has baby form and isBaby(n)? y/n If y: Spawn baby entity of same type Set isBaby: y " (At least, according to what Goose found when checking the code) It never touches the trades at all, so it probably won't refresh them.
@theapexsurvivor9538 It spawns a new baby while setting the old villager to the baby state, in this version the trades are hard coded into the villager's meta data so resetting it to a baby might unlock the trade again. Idk if an exhausted trade will be restocked but worth a try either way.
We are grinding with this one. We are grinding the spice. Wait thats an inuendo for manufactoring drugs. Or making pepper/paprika. Pick your poison i guess
If you place the output hatch of the grinder on the bottom row you can place a hopper underneath it to pull out the items into a chest. Conveyor works too of course. I think it's time too look into the railcraft multiblock steam boilers and a automated steam setup that thing is crazy but you are going to need loads of charcoal too.
The steam grinder will auto output, like other multi blocks. Just put a chest in front of the output. I think you want the input and output in the same chunk as the machine. Don’t forget to set the direction on you steam pipes so you don’t get sloshing
Indeed, picking up a villager before it restocks after trading will cause the restock to never occur as the data to restock is not saved to NBT. Closing the world has a similar effect.
There's also a rare-ish glitch where the anti-softlock mechanic can break if your last available trade is the newest trade and it rolls bad RNG: The last available trade isn't supposed to be able to lock until another trade is available. Unlocking a trade will automatically allow the failsafe check to be passed. There are a few ways that a new trade can be "unlocked" without actually unlocking (mostly by bricking the "gold for emeralds" fallback trade). If this happens while the newest trade is over the locking threshold it will lock, even if it was the last available trade. When shift clicking, you only get one roll to refresh/unlock, so if you have bad luck, it's possible to brick the trade instantly. Not super common in vanilla, but in modded it's a bit more of a crapshoot as to whether someone """fixed""" something that's """obviously""" "for testing purposes" and removed one of the failsafes. TL;DR: Don't shift click villagers with a small number of available trades, and never shift click their newest trade.
Hi, how do you mark specific quantities of material in NEI? I don't know how to use that function. I've tried to find the shortcut but I can't find it (I mean that 32, 16, 8, etc. appear together with the material). It's a really good option to organize long crafts without depending on a notepad. The series is really impressive and crushing, keep it up!
If you’re on the latest update 2.7.0 you can simply hover over any bookmarked item/block and hold alt and the hotkeys will be displayed. If not on that version it’s just “shift+ctrl+A”. Then by scrolling your mouse when hovering over a bookmarked item/block you can increase the amount whilst holding down the shift key. Now this goes even further into grouping bookmarked items/blocks. (I did showcase this on an earlier previous part…) Hope that helps
It's not like you need more distractions, but i was thinking you could fix your leaking ceiling by surrounding the thirsty tank with a small water tower build, just to have an interesting visual feature to look at
@@gardenofgrind It negates the need to hold hot items with the pizza gloves since they do fire damage. It also prevents damage from hot fluids in pipes/standing where steam machines vent.
I got into gtnh in the last month or so but I can't figure out some things that you're doing like second nature, for example the bookmarks of machines in inventory with crafting materials and groups or filling my fluid cells only partially, is the reason that I haven't found the right keybind or is it possible that I don't have the same modpack or something like that
That simmering comb villager with the locked single trade is, unfortunately, a goner. Pre-1.14 villager trading has a small chance of the villager not refreshing its' trades when you buy its' latest offer (in your case the comb) and it seems like you landed said chance. RIP
"I did some offline mining" moment
I need more diamonds to truly portray that phase haha

For the steam grinder, hoppers can interact with the output if they are on the bottom block of the Grinder, works the same for any multiblock.
No wonder we had a delay! This was some insane work! Well done! Can't wait to binge whole series all over again

This is correct

Read the Quests mate. REALLY !
Why?

get the rock breaker , even if u run it off LV u get infinite cobble / stone pretty easily
