    I think your right the Violet yarn suits your skin tone better for the Pressed flower project. I think because it's cooler tone than the Aubergine yarn. Good luck with you make 9 for 2023. I've added the Finch Fair Isle Marie Wallen to my Make 9.

    What a lovely selection of projects. I loved those pinks and I'm not a pink person usually either. I'm designing some colourwork knitting at the moment and was thrilled to find some J&S's wool in my local charity shop. Not often that happens! Looking forward to watching your progress :) Hope you are tucked up warm in this snow!

      Thank you! 😊 Nice score with the J&S I have picked up the odd ball up here but not a lot. Snow is pretty think here today and has kept John at home all week, I love snow though and would take snow over wind and rain any day :D

    Really enjoyed your video. I would love to watch your spinning tutorials. One of my 2024 goals is to learn to spin. Good luck with all your knitting plans.

    I bought the Chestnut as a kit a while back; I've done a couple of inches, so need to get back to it. It comes into my "intricate but not impossible" category :) The Pressed Flowers has been in my queue for a while too.

      I came a bit late to the game with the pressed flowers range, I think mostly as I thought mosaic knitting would be a pain in the butt, but the patterns are lovely :)

    It’s always tricky to do sizing… I’m a larger size because I’m 6’2”, even though I’m not overweight (anymore)-I always have to lengthen my sleeves to make sure it’s bracelet length!

    Your plans look so nice 😊 I've knitted the Halu two times already as the neckline suits me well (and plan to knit a third one to get a lighter version). I hope you get the yarn weights to work with the pressed flower cardigan. I have the shawl in my que and it is made in dk but the cardigan seems to be made in sport weight.

      Yes I think the cardigan is knit in a sport weight in the sample, but the gauge seems to be as a fingering weight, so I'm just going to go for it :)

    The extra length arms when the chest size is bigger is one of my bugbears too!
    I feel your frustration with the pattern with the two lace panels. I don't think all designers really know quite how to increase their patterns for a larger bust. Personally, if I didn't have the boobs, I would be knitting a sweater *several* sizes smaller, as almost all my extra is at the front. (As a character in Thoroughly Modern Millie says "I'm a Jazz Baby, with fronts"!)
    I don't blame them - I haven't a scooby how to do it either - but it does mean that as buyers we can't just take a pattern to be size inclusive because it says it is. (That said, there is at least one sweater design out there where the pattern really *does* run down the sides under the arms which is nice for people looking at you wearing it, but not perhaps as much fun for the wearer?)
    I know I ought to get more to grips with inserting bust darts, but I'm not confident about those if the pattern doesn't do the step by step for me, and tend to opt for the easier route of knitting a bigger size.
    PS: I see Winterwatch is in your area!

      I haven't tried adding bust darts to knitted garments yet, i haven't had a great deal of luck adjusting them in sewing patterns so would need to be included in the pattern for me to try them. A fair amount of snow for us up here, not nearly as much as the highlands but enough to shut the island down >.< I love it though, makes the dreary winter landscape look so pretty :)

    Do you miss yarn dying? Would you ever go back to being a yarn seller?

    • @MadMadamMel
      @MadMadamMel  10 місяців тому

      I do miss dying yarn sometimes but it is only a fraction of the yarn business and I don't miss the rest :)
