Does anyone know how to activate "Active Extra Bass"? I have one of these and there is no bass at all

Just got mine today off Amazon. The problem is I can't get it to power down. I press the on/off button in the middle and it just makes that chime noise but never turns off. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a defective speaker?
Are you holding the button down long enough? (past the chime - to see if the power goes out afterwards)

Can you tell me how this speaker compared to JBL flip 6 please
I'm sorry - I don't have that model handy. I can say it compares well to the Sonos ROAM and the Boss SoundLink.

how long does it last?
It will play for over 10 hours on a charge. The manufacture claims it will last 15 hours but I have not tested it that long to confirm it.
The Bluetooth pairing isn't working right off the bat for me
