I remember when I was a kid I was trapping muskrats during the blizzard of `78. I went back to get my traps from a creek, the creek was to the top of the banks and frozen, or so I thought. I started walking down the ice when I fell through. Lucky the water stopped at my shoulders cause I hit bottom I instantly jumped so high that I escaped to the bank. I cried and was thanking God when I walked the mile home. My clothes were frozen so hard that it made it very difficult to walk, and the temp was below zero with crazy winds. I left my traps and swore never to trap again, you never forget something like that. You fighting the current brought that memory back in a flash. Anyway, God bless and be careful man, dangerous job then doing alone increases the danger.
Same situation happened to me but I wasn't trapping was messing around with friends and I went under water but that God there was a root I grabbed ahold of and pulled myself out man I was miserable on my long run/walk home I was about 15 thought I was going to freeze to death while my brother and friends were laughing at me I wanted to kick their butts but was to cold this was on big Darby Creek in Galloway well say I learned my lesson
78 was my first year as a logger. if it was not snowing 6"+ it was 20-30 below zero. Hard winter but tremendously forming of character. I would do it again.
Dave, maybe you should have someone with you when facing circumstances like that. Like you said, deep watet, waders fill up with water,ADIOS AMIGO. On a brighter note,19 beavers, wow, that's a lot.God Bless.
Damn David!!! I thought we were going to see the demise of Yawt Yawt. Buddy them waders can be the death you. Good to see it worked out the way it did, but dang brother be safe.
Did you see the angels that were there with you?? Wow!! Praise God for His power & love!! You're a trooper - recovered that beaver even though you 'bout drowned!!! God bless you and your family always and all-ways!! 🙏♥️🙏
Great job Yawt !! Those were some big Beavers!! Flood water is never to be taken lightly!!! It’s very dangerous!! Blessings for all you do spiritually and educational.. You do a great job !!

That was a perfect example of how a wader belt is supposed to function. Keeps the water from ballooning them and filling up completely. Back in the day with the old rubber chest waders we also had a drawstring around the top. Today's neoprene waders don't need the drawstring but a wader belt is pretty important.
Great video David! God blessed you today. That was a very close call. You caught some beauties. Luckily the river only got your rod. I remember seeing the short done and this looked a lot worse. You were definitely blessed. Thank you Father. Thanks for sharing!!!
I'm an avid fisherman in the pacific northwest. And quite frequently I'm in my chest waders chest deep in local rivers. If you get caught in fast moving water wearing chest waders, turn over on your back raise your feet out of the water and float down to where you can safely get out and walk back instead of filling your waders with water. Just a suggestion
Oh, my goodness, you had me scared with that fast water David, you were right, you could have been down the creek, especially with all the clothes you had on. I remember fishing with my Dad in the Wateree River and sometimes they let the water go and it did not take long for the water to get really fast/bad. Please be careful, you had to work really hard for your catch today. Stay safe, God bless.
I just wanted to take a second or two to tell you I truly enjoy your videos. I look forward to watching each one. I listen to your pod casts and follow you on Facebook. I've learned new tricks to trapping Beavers and been reminded of things I'd forgotten. Glad that little swim in the flood wasn't as bad as it could have been. Keep putting out these great videos I love em.
I wish you had Red with you on these hunts, it really takes two men to do this safely. Your angels were on duty this day! Please be safer David you can only die once. Good video David but scary. Take care 👍😱
I don’t care what they are paying you David, “it’s not enough”. What you have to endure in order to trap those beavers is almost unbelievable. I know the good people of that county in MS must really appreciate what you are doing for them, not only in keeping the roads clear but helping them to maintain their fields for planting and harvesting. May God continue to keep you safe.
Hello David, Hugh Craft, here from Miami Fl. You need to take greater care when wading in fast streams that you don't trip into deep water. When you are alone in this situation you should have a rope anchored on the bank of the stream and attached to your body, so if you slip, you can pull yourself out of a dangerous fix. I have been a viewer of your site for years, and I am always concerned that you work too hard. The Hog trapping is excellent. Please take care. God Bell a true believer!!!
Lol. I don't mean to make light of this but God says don't put anything before him. Go to church and then come home and relax to yawt yawt. He'll still be here...

You're doing a good job and a necessary one. When you were digging out the one beaver you talked about how they undermine the bank of the stream. You could see behind you the tree that was about to fall over because the bank was undermined. I am an old man and I have seen a lot of things happen in unsafe situations. I have read and heard about fisherman and trappers who drown when the waders fill up with a lot of water. You were in a dangerous situation by yourself. I don't know how you can do it, but you need some kind of safety rope. Roofers used to work without a safety rope. But, after some fell and were seriously injured and died, they now use safety ropes. Keep up the good work.

When I saw the waders go under the water and you struggling got worried for a second but realized you where OK or we wouldn't be seeing the video...
