  • Daryll, Alba and Air find new ways to make ends meet after losing their jobs in the pandemic. Daryll and Alba take on food deliveries, while Air mulls starting a risky new business with the little funds she has left.
In Singapore, Daryll’s mother-in-law pressures him into holding a wedding banquet, even as he fears losing precious time with his newborn by spending all his time trying to earn money. His father fears the toll on Daryll from the long work hours, and true enough an accident happens.
Alba is retrenched from her job as an air stewardess with a Hong Kong airline. Earning little from her food delivery jobs, she decides to turn to her brother for a job. A job which is as unglamourous as it is dirty.
Air used to be a director for business development for an events company, but business dried up as visitors are barred from Thailand. In her bid to start a new business, she turns to a recipe from her grandmother. But starting a business is far more difficult than she thought.

I feel that Darryl should prioritise and distinguish between needs and wants. He is already so financially strapped with a condo mortgage to service and yet he wants to have a wedding banquet. When you sign the marriage register at ROM, you are officially legally married. Whether or not you have a tea ceremony or a banquet is immaterial - these are wants and not needs.
His wife is also not understanding at all - calling him selfish when he was being upfront about affordability of a wedding banquet.

After about 20 years working, I'll tell young people you should not have any loyalty to any organization, they will turn on you in a second when its convenient and fire/replace you. Also to ensure no slavery, young people dont get married and dont get a girl pregnant, make sure she takes the birth control pill daily in front of you and both wear protection. You will just condemn your new child to increasing poverty and freedomless slavery and these control/money/job trends worsen. Its it obvious from the start? He just didn't want his sister to get too involved in his business. If she gets more involved in his venture, he will become obliged to share more profits or even shareholding of the business, of which the profit margin could be very tight to start with. Such arrangement could potentially be contentious in court, especially if the business structure is informal like sole proprietorship. Besides we also don't know this lady really well, she might have certain personality issues (e.g. opportunistic/selfish) that only her brother knows. She could potentially get hold of certain large cliente and do it on her own, given the toiletries business doesn't have much of a moat. Her brother is already generous to give her a temporary job position. Some would have outright rejected her. Maybe she needs to be more cognizant of his preference and move on, or else bigger conflict awaits. Let's be fair to him as well.

Wow Daryll's wife isn't doing herself any favours sounding like a pampered strawberry who has only ever worried about herself. Her husband is slogging away day and night, and she complains about him not being there for her?? She isn't there riding with him when he's delivering food either. It's called division of labour. That's what it means to be an adult in tough times. The decision to over-commit on expensive housing and have an unplanned child is on both of them. But he at least is showing some grit and maturity now. Meanwhile she is pressuring him about a wedding dinner, which is another foolish financial decision on top of prior unwise financial decisions which have forced them into this tight corner.
This tough period will force her to grow up quickly and catch up with her husband mentally, or I don't see the marriage lasting.

She wants him to be around so she can show off, out of pure selfishness.
Which doctor won't understand ''my husband is working/his dad is working''? None!
She's trying to force him into the baby's appointments through guilt, because in her mind, people might think that she doesn't have a husband. Girl, grow up!
''Husband is trying to save us all from drowning ,here!'' that should be your thought.
As for your judgemental parents girl, tell them to look after the baby so you can at least work from home and bring in the money you are demanding for the stupid banquet.

She got off n next day ppl took over all their housing their belongings. Like 👍🏻 crazy ! I grew up thinking my grandparents were poor , hearing those stories I didn’t understand! But they r so happy 😀 they don’t ever live like bitter ppl . They had 6 kids . They r just so possitive n really gracious ppl in China 🇨🇳 ! My grandma was managing a company in Shanghai , my grandma was teacher . I don’t understand how my mom told me that when she was a kid they had 7 maids . Cuz all i saw was poor ! One day I point at the pic on the wall asking who that is cuz d young dude is so extremely handsome! It’s so shocking ! Cuz they look so old n happy 😃! Their fancy wood carved table were aged n run down . N when I was watching 戏说乾隆 , I realize my dad looked exactly like 郑少秋 !I wonder why didn’t he become an actor lol 😂 cuz he wears trench coat n suits for work my kindergarten teachers always like tak about some “hot dad” . He chose to have new career in expecting for the government contracts in his 40s. He went to school for engineering he knew nothing about business but he did learn logistics , working with factory 🏭 he has to pick the best factory to her highest quality for d exporting ! N he won’t take bribe . Just lots things ,,,, n he was so successful! I think 💭 If u were going so far in arts . U have the ability to turn that talent in something else . Because ppl are best in arts 🎭 r often the most creative n adaptive ppl . Good luck for yr new journey .

I didn't not blame her but at beginning I try to tell her not buying expensive one if we face any crisis. Right now she became the sales. But her income is not enough to pay installment. agree with this, why Darryl taking instalment on expensive car (VW) and for what i see he take an expensive and nice condo that way beyond his level, i don't give sympathy for Daryl but i give him my respect to try fix his F*ck up decision, and his wife for Pete's sake if she can't help please stop bitchin'

@@shiftyhoot Yeaaah, his wife was kind of a bummer. Complaining instead of being supportive. He's trying his best, at least be supportive and try to carry some weight. At this path, Darryl will end up dead or divorced. She will lose him either way. As for Darryl, my man needs to cut a few things loose there. I think his friend probably knows it and just couldn't tell it to his face.
Although I gotta point out...VW is not expensive (relatively). Common misconception though so that's fine.

In a way, for the singapore couple, they brought it on themselves?? The idea in singapore is when you have a condo, can get a car, and nice cushy job, you made it and never think of the what if. My wife has been out of job for a year, but we are still getting by, because we saved, alot, especially by prudent foresight.

That Singaporean idea is somewhat sound because cash is part of the 5Cs, when you have it it can help you in those what if situations. That couple is a different beast, they are the fake it till you make it type. They over extended to pretend to be somebody whom they aren't.

Daryl's decision to marry and start a family very young just to focus on his career doesn't makes sense. Coming from a poor background you'd imagine you'd want to focus on your career first and delay getting married as long as you can.

Darryl shouldn't have married early. He should have focused on his career first then once he's financially stable, he can marry later. His wife should have helped more financially, perhaps working part time. She can leave the baby with her mother in law since she only works part time as well. I really feel sorry for him

Everyone starts from somewhere. Having the consideration to guide his sister along so she can get started will mean money coming back to his business. Putting her down saying “she doesn’t understand anything. How can she help him” is very demeaning

    • @jamesl2590
      @jamesl2590 2 роки тому +14
