Grocery, restaurants, banks, govt offices, taverns, haircuts...etc...and the speed limit never gets above 35mph. (mostly it's 25) The SC is perfect for this kind of riding. If I want to go out of town, I have a regular motorcycle for that. But I don't want to drag a 500lb motorcycle out to run 2 miles to the grocery store for milk and eggs. In town/city riding, this thing is great. If you need to be above 45mph for extended periods of time, this is not your machine. Do NOT take a SC on the highway. You have NO power to pass or get out of danger.
The Super Cub is not just the most sold Honda motorcycle to-date. Since the original Cub went on sale in 1958, Honda has built and sold more than 110 million of them (according to Car and Driver)…. “It is by far the best-selling self-propelled vehicle of all time”.. it’s the most sold vehicle period. The shifter was designed to enable commuters to shift up with the heel and avoid scuffing their work shoes. Honda’s original rationale for the clutch lever less (centrifugal clutch) design was to allow drivers to drive with the right-hand while freeing up the left hand to carry cargo.

Apparently chase either doesn’t care enough to do a little research or just prefers hearing himself talk nonsense in an obnoxiously loud sing songs voice for 20 minutes without conveying any useful information.

But I ride a slow sportster 48 lol!
I bought one of these, and I love this bike! I’ve ridden bigger bikes in the past, but I have more fun on this Super Cub than my previous 900cc bikes I’ve owned. Mpg is amazing! I will never sell this bike.
I have a 2020 and they are absolute joys to ride. It's like hone you're a kid and you wish you could shove a lawnmower engine into your bicycle, this is basically the result.
I grew with this bikes Yamaha town mate and now with Honda supra 100 fully rebuild. This type of motorbikes are the simple, reliable and every day thing to do your job. That's why i love them...
I've been rocking this motorcycle when I was 16 back in the days, this honda is the best, for people who didn't know, this supercub is semi-auto, the one with clutch is manual and scoots are automatic.
Seeing you wear full gear on the Cub makes me realize how strange I must look wearing all my Revit gear while riding mine, but ayo I've gone 72mph down 316 and 285 with this thing all the time and I don't' trust half the MF's in ATL. You're pretty bold taking it thru 400, I feel like even my Z06 gets tramped from all the psychos on that road😂
Here in Japan, Honda Super Cubs 50 /125cc bikes are used by Japan Post and newspaper delivery firms. Workhorses and super reliable. Pretty surprised he went on the highway. In Japan, 125cc and below aren't allowed on highways.
1 word to describe this bike : “ Indestructible “ In England 🏴, this guy rode it off the roof, put burnt oil , drove it off the cliff, and it still started !!!! King of kings when it comes to HONDA super cub in the world !!!! No.1
Found this channel while searching for my first motorcycle. Reminds me so much of Matt Farah's One Takes. I think all your viewers would agree that we'd love to see you try out a lot of the more obscure bikes like you did in this video.
"I don't like downshifting" Do you dump your clutch on a traditional moto when you down shift? Here's the key everyone, the Cub has TWO clutches [a hand operated lever is NOT a clutch... the lever is the interface to manipulate a clutch]. One clutch is associated with the throttle, and the other clutch is on the left foot 'shifter'. The shifter does double duty. It acts just like the traditional left hand lever AND it changes your gear. It's not hard to figure out folks.
1st, you treat the gear lever like a clutch pedal in a car. Push down to shift, then release like a clutch pedal. (I've owned one for 3 years) I have a rear rack and an Oxford expandable tail bag. This bike is a great around town errands machine 👌
It’s not just the highest selling motorcycle from from Honda, it’s the biggest selling form of motorised transport of all time with well over 100 million sold to date.
I think is so fun cose almost anything with 2 wheels ridden to the limit is fun. I usually ride my bike, but when I use my brother electric “50cc” equivalent scooter it’s hilarious to ride it hard everywhere 😄. The c125 is pretty cool, but had no passenger seat and no luggage. The off road versione of the c125 (don’t remember now the name of the model on top of my head) is one of the best 125 cc thing I think you can buy.
OC: Bring on the minis! Thanks for the changes. The color correction in the show floor B-roll and the camera car thoughtf were a must. I also ageee Heather needs one 🤙🏼
After driving the interstates for years with a 150cc I'm sure I would love to drive a Super Cub across the country. I found following Trucks and Suv's I could double my gas mile and turn the throttle down so the engine was never breathing hard.
No, The Super Cub is the most produced motorcycle in the world, In excess of 100 million units. That's more motorcycles than all of the Harley Davidson production for the last 119 years.
It also far exceeds Ford pickup trucks and Volkswagen Beetles. The Honda Super Cub is out there all alone on numbers. A company doesn't sell 130,000,000 (DAMN that's a huge number) of anything without hitting its market.
I saw many of these in Japan '84-'87 when I lived there; the fairing part was often white, and it seemed alot of the older folks rode these. I just remember a LOT of scooters there...
FYI. You said you don't like downshifting. Actually you can downshift and rev match with that thing. Pushing the shift pedal and holding it is like squeezing the clutch lever, so you can do rev matching by pushing and holding the shift pedal down and revving and then releasing the shift pedal so that you're downshift is smooth just like a normal motorcycle with clutch lever.
It's not just Honda's most sold bike, it's the most sold vehicle, across any vehicle manufacturer, of all time, period. Even more than the Toyota Corolla, which holds the title of best-selling car of all time.
Lots of people laugh at the Honda Super Cub until they get on it and ride. And then the Super Cub surprises them. It shouldn't. A company doesn't sell 130,000,000 of anything without it having something done right. 160MPG. Smooth ride. Quiet. L hand free. 64 year old UNCHANHED design which feels modern. Great mud protection. Covered drive chain. Millions and millions of the 125cc engines out there. And, to quote this video, "It's a Honda. It is gonna last for freaking ever." Laugh at it when you get on it, understand why there are 130,000,000 of them by the time you get back from a test drive. Over the entire history of human conveyance on the planet: #1 horse. #2 bicycle #3 Honda Super Cub.
I rode my 50mph honda scv100 lead on 70mph highways here in the UK for years. You just have to keep an eye on your mirrors and I never had a problem. Also, when someone is coming up on you in your lane a few light pulls of the brake lever(while not actually activating the brake) to flash your brake lights is a good idea.
You were almost right the first time. It IS the most produced motorcycle from any manufacturer, not to mention most produced vehicle in general in human history save the horse.
The clutch is called centrifugal clutch. To disengage and shift just throttle down so the engine will allow you to shift. The moped is popular in Southeast Asia. I had a Honda Wave 100.
I've had my big twin, Harley Softail for 30 years and I can't wait to pick up my new Super Cub this Saturday. I don't think this is a step back. The journey is the destination. Plus, the Harley is only a slightly faster than a Super Cub, lol!
I had a '68 Honda Cub (50 CC) as a kid from about age 12 to 15 back in the early 70s. I loved it, and it held up to an incredible amount of abuse. When I went shopping for a scooter-type bike earlier this year it was one of the first things I looked at; decided on a Vespa GTS 300 instead just because of the additional power. Still considering getting one for my wife, though.
I read somewhere that in the rest of the world (non-US), shifting is reverse on the super cub than it is here, which would be more intuitive. Pushing down on the front shifter moves you up a gear, and pushing down on the rear shifter moves you down a gear.
I actually have one and it always puts a smile on my face and I even get respect from old Harley guys when I pass. I dug the big semi behind you giving you safe passage. What's great about the Cub is stability and it does 50mph all day. Brakes suck.
Always fun watching Chase do the inverted learning. Finds out things we've known about since the 70s or earlier (semi auto gearbox). The shifter is identical to all motorcycles. Down for lower, up for higher gears... just paired with the typical cruiser style heel shift. Seems he knows every bell and whistle on most new cutting edge modern bikes, which is ironic to me 😅. Funny how times change so fast even the old well known things get thrown out the window haha. Love these little things.
In most Asian contries, for example, Vietnam, all semi auto gearbox's shift is inverted (Down for higher gears, up for lower gears), it's a bit weird for me to see a inverted shift pattern in the Cub sold in America :))
@@phammanh2689 I've never heard of a 'step thru' with a gearchange up for up..I've ridden C50 in 1975...C90's in 2000's..ANF125 Innova..110i Wave..all have same direction..down for up..from top gear when stopped down into neutral..down for first..etc..I haven't ridden a conventional gearbox for like 20 years..I'd be confused with the reverse gearing on a cub..
@@markianclark9645 You should come to Vietnam mate, 100% of semi-auto motorcycles (like this Cub 125) are the same shift pattern (down for upshift, up for downshift), only the manual clutch motorcycle have the same shift pattern (one down, the rest is up) :))
Hmm kinda like on a Honda quad. Love this bike. My wife is 5’1” and I’m 6’ this is the perfect shared errand machine. All our cars eat premium non oxy gas so this bike will be in my garage this spring!
I had a mate who had a Honda 90 he travelled on it every day to and from work when he worked as a relief Signalman on the Railway here in the U K , never let him down great little bike , I knew a few guys who used them to commute to and from work .😊
That's a normal shift lever, it's just a heel/toe like some cruisers have, you can completely ignore the rear half of it and just kick up and down on the front half like a normal one lol
OC: The "Super Cub Wave" at the end was worth 29 mins and 49 secs. lmao. That motocicleta is awesome. I could see owning one especially someone living at the coast/beach town or city. There's a vid of one modded into a semi-close cafe racer too.
The super cub uses the same type of transmission commonly found on underbone motorcycles below 150cc where you are essentially operating the shifter and the clutch at the same time. In US I guess the Super Cub is the only motorcycle that comes with centrifugal clutch but go to certain regions within Europe like Greece, South East Asia, or China and you'll find a whole slew of these motorcycles running around typically produced by Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki. Kawasaki used to produce these motorcycles as well up until about 7 years ago. Entry level models below 130cc typically top out at 75mph, higher end models might be able to get you up to 90 if you try hard enough
OC. Been considering a scoot for a while. My buddy let me ride his Helix and I loved it. If I had a little extra, I do what Chey Leesi did and get the Trail 125. Reminds me a lot of the Trail 70 my late step dad had.
I have had this bike for almost a year now I love it. It has got high torque in 1st I've done a couple of small involuntary wheeles when pulling away from lights.
I would love to know your opinion on a Honda NC750X. I had a 2012 and wrecked it and am curious to see if you like these new ones. First ride? I don't think you've done one, from what I can see in your playlist.
I just literally purchased one last week, waiting for delivery. Waited 3-6 months for one lol. Fyi, sold the 600rr for this. Was living too fast on that, its time to go slower lol
I had a 1000RR...but the only roads that are good (curvy) going to work are 35mph...and here its a felony to go 30mph over the speed limit....so like you said...time to slow it down...and see the sights.
OC. Like others have said, i'd take the Trail 125 so i can sneak through back trails and also throwing a crate on the back to even run to the grocery store to grab a few things would be easier. Currently trying to figure out what bags to get to carry 3 gallons of milk on the back of my Ninaj400 =D
Whenever I hear a reviewer say that the downshift on a super cub is harsh then I know they don’t know what they’re doing. This reviewer seems to know a lot about motorcycles but he doesn’t understand the upshift on a dirtbike. Your foot is always below the shifter and you shift with your toes. You downshift with your foot on top of the shifter. The shifter on your heel is rarely used except to put the bike in first from neutral. On a super cub the heel shifter is at an odd angle and shouldn’t be used for up shift. These things took me a month of riding before I figured them out.
The downshifting you can nullify with rev-matching that will be super intuitive when you get to do it, super fun, pretty and costumizable machine, also MPG = supercheap
Its actually been around since 70’s in asian countries like malaysia. So Yeahh street cubs are street kings to modify around here. Try looking on youtube Mr.Chaseontwowheels
The seating position of a super cub is exactly like sitting on the shitter minus getting the sleepy legs when you sit on it for too long so I guess massive plus
if u wanna change gear just relase gas alittle bit and change it. Its kinda like Rev-matching and change gear without clutch. If you wanna clutch just foot down or press down without release your gear like foot clutch thing.BTW i'm from Southeast ASIA.110cc or 125cc was our daily riding thing with that semi autogear bike.
Dude just use the shifter like any other bike ever made, you don’t have to use the heel pedal. You can also rev match it like any other bike when you downshift. If you downshift a manual clutch and down rev match they’re rough too….giving off first time rider vibes.
The PCX is more practical. Has a pillion for a passenger, plenty of room, and a lot of storage space for the same price as this. And gets about 120 mpg too. Review the PCX or NC750x if you can.
Asian market they have been around since they first came out. Same with Latin America. Ive had a Honda wave 100cc same clutch system for over 10 years I still love that bike. I live in Argentina.
6:54 its not just Honda but also other Japanese brands as well like Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki. It's common in underbone motorcycles here in Philippines and its a semi-automatic transmission instead of a manual transmission.
I would definitely use my Dremel Tool with a cutting wheel and cut that back shifter lever OFF! Also, right or wrong I would just use the brakes to slow down and when I am just about to come to a stop I would down shift to first. (Easier on the gears) That is, unless I was down shifting for a hill.
I grew up owning a Honda Astrea Supra ...so N-1-2-3-4 was kinda common / We had lots of mopeds like this back in Greece, most common were Honda Astrea Supra, Honda Astrea Grand, Yamaha Crypton ...all three were 100cc and then some had the Honda GLX 50cc, 90cc
Riding a couple of Enfields I had that up/down lever thing, and just could not get my head around it. Luckily, I could just shift up/down using the front part of the lever.

I live in Atlanta also but on the complete other side as Chase. Hopefully I’ll see him riding around while I’m out on my bike that’ll be cool doing a ride meet up with you one day. But I ride a slow sportster 48 lol!
I bought one of these, and I love this bike! I’ve ridden bigger bikes in the past, but I have more fun on this Super Cub than my previous 900cc bikes I’ve owned. Mpg is amazing! I will never sell this bike.
I would definitely consider buying one of these just to commute to work with.
Especially since I don't really have to get in the highway.
Those are the best bikes, my dads friend had one of these in the 70s in central america. He told me these are durable af.
Driving this vehicle over 70 'mericans per hour will definitely turn you into a real angel real fast bruf.
Bought one of these back in April. It's my first bike and I'm loving it!
I bought one 6 months ago and I still love riding it to everywhere. This little bike is amazing.
New series: Scooter Bros! Make it happen 😁😁😁
No.1
To change gears, lower the throttle and step forward to shift to the reverse to downshift
Pretty sure it’s actually the opposite on the super cub and trail 125. Pushing down with your toe shifts down, pushing down with you heel shifts up.
Found this channel while searching for my first motorcycle. Reminds me so much of Matt Farah's One Takes. I think all your viewers would agree that we'd love to see you try out a lot of the more obscure bikes like you did in this video.
you can rev match with that type of transmission you just need to keep the shifter depressed for a bit then blip the throttle then release the shifter
"I don't like downshifting"
Do you dump your clutch on a traditional moto when you down shift?
Pushing the shift pedal and holding it is like squeezing the clutch lever, so you can do rev matching by pushing and holding the shift pedal down and revving and then releasing the shift pedal so that you're downshift is smooth just like a normal motorcycle with clutch lever.
you can step on the shifter and dont let go and rev to do rev matching
It's not just Honda's most sold bike, it's the most sold vehicle, across any vehicle manufacturer, of all time, period. Even more than the Toyota Corolla, which holds the title of best-selling car of all time.
I dont understand why he treats this bike like a joke...thats a neat bike.
This review was awesome! I wish Honda would put a 250cc engine in the same chassis so it could cruise at 70mph.
They’d sell a million more…
I been asking that for years with the Grom. If they would put a 250cc or even a 300cc from their cbr300r, I would buy 2 or 3 of them.
@@jonboy87 Hello Honda! Are you listening?
@@davidhunternyc1 nope
Also, please, make it for normal size Americans, not just for midgets.
There's a chanel called "C-90 adventures", and the guy has been touring all over the world on one of these.
This is the most sold vehicle in human history, not just the most sold Honda.
OC I honestly think I would consider getting one to just have a little fun on or for quick short trips
Its called a heel/toe shifter. They have them on cruisers.
It's the highest sold vehicle, period.
you can always rev match when downshifting on a motorcycle like this and it's so much better feeling...
It isn’t *Honda’s* most sold vehicle… it’s the literal *most sold vehicle in history*
I have had this bike for almost a year now I love it. It has got high torque in 1st I've done a couple of small involuntary wheeles when pulling away from lights.
It's not just the most sold motorbike but also the most sold motorised vehicle (cars are included in that) ever.
I would love to know your opinion on a Honda NC750X. I had a 2012 and wrecked it and am curious to see if you like these new ones. First ride? I don't think you've done one, from what I can see in your playlist.
I’ve got a Meteor 350 and seriously considering adding that 750 DCT as a 2nd bike for highway touring
Its reversal because in Philippines if you want to shift up you need to push the forward gear and if you want to down shift push the back gear
Amazing, Chase attaches a effing Quad Lock, the most overpriced and inconvenient way to destroy you phone, without crashing. Bravo.
Transmission kinda seems like it's out of a quad or something. I know I've ridden clutchless quads with that sort of N-1-2-3-4 pattern
OC. Like others have said, i'd take the Trail 125 so i can sneak through back trails and also throwing a crate on the back to even run to the grocery store to grab a few things would be easier. Currently trying to figure out what bags to get to carry 3 gallons of milk on the back of my Ninaj400 =D
We've been playing this game where we take a drink every time you say hilarious and we are so f***** up right now.
Hold the clutch a short while, just enough to rev match the downshift! You're welcome!!!
What happened to this video earlier? I was enjoying it then all of a sudden its gone
The PCX is more practical. Has a pillion for a passenger, plenty of room, and a lot of storage space for the same price as this. And gets about 120 mpg too. Review the PCX or NC750x if you can.
If you've come to the Philippines, Honda released a lot of the same units as the Cub. The Wave 110, Wave 125, Honda Dream, etc. 😁
if you rev match on the downshifts its super rewarding and its pretty damn smooth as well you should try it
Asian market they have been around since they first came out.
I absolutely love ❤that little bike…. I’ve had everything and now want that…
I grew up owning a Honda Astrea Supra ...so N-1-2-3-4 was kinda common / We had lots of mopeds like this back in Greece, most common were Honda Astrea Supra, Honda Astrea Grand, Yamaha Crypton ...all three were 100cc and then some had the Honda GLX 50cc, 90cc
i smile so much more on my scooter as well! my motorcycle is fun but scooters are the best thing in thE world to ride around for fun
Hey they remembered the sound check this time
Riding a couple of Enfields I had that up/down lever thing, and just could not get my head around it. Luckily, I could just shift up/down using the front part of the lever.
