Would the belts and pulleys make the blades not turn as fast. It's not as loud as it was when I hit the pto switch. When I pick up the deck the loud blade sound comes back. But dies down when I drop it low. But the blades still spin. But not at full power.
So you just had to give battery power to the fuel shutoff solenoid for the engine to start ? My Hydro 175 used to work great, but it's been stalling a lot since last year. Been replacing and cleaning the whole fuel line, nothing seemed clogged. But wondering if the trouble could be because of that solenoid.
Kim Greenwood hi there , yes applying 12v to the solenoid opens the plunger and lets fuel into the bowl. So for testing purposes you could disconnect the wire going to it and just run a temporary jumper to it that gives it 12v
I have an Ariens grand sierra that had a no start condition. I found out that I had no power coming out of the pto switch. Replaced the switch and it fired right up.
CincyPlasmaTech I can’t tell you for sure on this one, but I have never seen any small engine with reverse threads. I would assume they are normal threads.....
It scares me when a vid starts that way...... But in theory just about any tractor can be hot wired in 5 minutes if you know what your doing ;) And yes a missing pto switch would cause a no start !
Hi- Thanks for the video. My LX172 won't charge the battery. Would you know why? thanks in advance

You could have a loose belt or a belt that isn’t routed correct

I don't know if you will see this. On this engine, Kawasaki K series 14 hp, which direction does the shaft bolt turn to loosen it?

I guess you know you shouldn't be running it that long with out the shroud on, it will over heat and mess up.
I know but it was running less than two minutes, it's not like I mowed the lawn :)
