I experienced hypoglycaemic symptoms by taking ALA only the very first couple of times. So I reduced the dosage by spitting it in half, 250 mg twice a day with food. Increased to full dosage (500mg) 1x day after some weeks. I’ve been taking it for months now, alongside a multivitamin. No problems at all.
Every time I have taken Alpha Lipoic Acid I would get a sense of confusion and severe headache. I just recently Googled my symptoms and my suspicion it was connected to ALA. Thats when I found out this is most likely what was causing my issues. Too bad though because the reason I tried it in the first place was to help with my neuropathy.

You should mention type of ALA you are considering since other than R-ALA the other forms are harmfull. I think some studies also does not consider this.
So, if I am fasting, say 48 hours, and a normal reading can be 3.6mmol/L to 3.3 mmol/L your saying it could drop even further in that time when the glucose is already low? If you are using keto to keep glucose low for cancer, Alpha lipoic acid may drop the glucose levels, but if the insulin auto antibodies are made, and they attach to insulin, and its no longer insulin, and the glucose increases because it does not bind on to the receptors, It allowes your tumor to take up that extra glucose and fuel the tumor, so of one step back and two steps for the tumor?
