    Make sure you get the "R" type (R-Alpha Lipoic Acid ). It's more expensive than the other two, but having looked in to it in depth, it's the only one worth using. Thanks for a great video.

    There are 3 forms of Alpha Lipoic Acid on the market:
    R-Alpha Lipoic Acid.
    S-Alpha Lipoic Acid
    RS-Alpha Lipoic Acid.
    The R-Alpha Lipoic Acid is the only pure form and costs a lot more than the synthetic ones!
    It is vital that YOU high-light this fact to your viewers!

    • @georgecav
      @georgecav 7 місяців тому +1

      Vital why? Do hou have studies that show the other forms don’t work and the r form is the only form that does or are there a number of good studies that show bad side effects from the other forme and not of r form or is it just influencer propaganda

    • @fuyooooo
      @fuyooooo 7 місяців тому

      @@georgecav R-ALA has higher bioavailability. Most ALA products are RS. There are influencers claiming that RS has no benefit or negative effects. However, there are no good studies to back up these claims. There are few synthetic supplements that are good for you long-term which is probably where the phobia comes from.

      R-ALA is water soluble and has better absorption then either S--ALA(synthetic)and RS-ALA RS is just a mixture of R (water soluble) and Synthetic ALA but the synthetic mixture inhibits the R absorption

    I love this doctor.
    Me and my dog are ultrarunners, canicross together...anyway...my pooch is on ALA too, 0.25 grams twice daily.
    We just finished a 240 km running week and a 900 km running month of June.
    He also takes glutamine, taurine, nac and alcar, twice a day on empty stomach.
    This helps with his endurance, stamina and PTSD....he is a rescue, mix Coyote and Bordercollie. I got him when he was 22 months old and quite sick, he had behaviour issues because of neglect, abuse, no excersise and bad food. No one was able to walk him.
    Now he is the sweetest dog, healthy, strong and smart as a whip, no behaviour issues anymore whatsoever.
    He also gets a can of sardines a day with crushed flaxseeds, homemade dogfood with prebiotics and probiotics, good animal proteins, occasionally mutton offal meat and eggs, coconut meat for caprylic acid, antioxidants like blueberries, spinach twice a week and a variation of freshly cooked vegetables, he loves red beets and cooked carrots...everything for healthy gut microbiome.
    His transformation in two years is mindblowing.
    His name is Ben but should change it to Zen.
    He is tranquill yet extremely energetic and ALA plus the rest has helped tremendously.
    By the way...I am 50 year old female and take the same amino acid cocktail but different dosage ofcourse.

    Great info. Obviously a very conscientious individual. Much appreciated. I just started taking Alpha-Lipoic Acid for lower cholesterol as well as all the other health benefits you so aptly mentioned. NIH studies say it only lowers cholesterol specifically LDL in larger doses like 1200 mg but I’m starting with 600 to let body acclimate and make sure I do Ok. The antioxidant properties and cognitive benefits along with less sugar in the blood sounds beneficial to everyone not just diabetic neuropathy sufferers.

    ALA comes in at least three forms I'm aware of. The type I take is Na-RALA and is tied to Sodium, making it up to 30 times more available than RALA, the R form of ALA, or so the manufacturer claims. Then there's the S form which is a synthetic and not as effective.

    • @michaelhayward9532
      @michaelhayward9532 2 роки тому +3

      Yes, was hoping she would address the different types, looked on her link and her brand is like alot of them, not specified so it's probably the cheaper form S, I always take R but will find out about the NA-RLA form, good info thanks.

    • @Biohacker24
      @Biohacker24 2 роки тому +4

      Ala has two isomers that make it up… the R isomer (R-ALA) and the S isomer (S-ALA). The R isomer form is the active form of ala and the S isomer is inactive. If you want to get the most affordable (but equally effective) ala just get the regular ala and double the dose to get an equivalent amount of R-ALA. The time released version is best for most applications as ala has a short half life. Na-RALA may be stronger though than all the above but the half life may be short too (i don’t know that for sure)

  • @dave_myers
    @dave_myers 2 роки тому +5

    according to some, namely Andy Cutler, due to the short half life in the body taking ALA outside of a well considered frequent dosing protocol (< 3 hour interval, around the clock, with supporting supplementation) may redistribute the body burden of heavy metals towards the more metabolically active tissues of the body, for example your brain. This would be a bad thing. If you have amalgam fillings it may increase transport of mercury from your fillings to your brain. his books are compelling reading and a conservative take on use of ALA.

    Thank you Dr. Warner for this great information! I have diabetic type II now I got janumet form my doc but it causes stingy foot pain when I use it, maybe I must increase benfotiamine b1 300mg dosage daily? Or is ALA a better alternative to lower blood sugar?
    Last year I tried ALA a short time (3 days) with 600mg a day and I was tired all day long could sleep in day and night so I took the ALA off. Why ALA has maked me feel so tired? Should I try ALA again on lower dosage instead of using janumet?

      In fact some researchers suggest that ALA might be a helpfull sleep aid.

      I take 2x times 1grams ALA one in morning, one in the evening, now I have ALA as powder it burns in the throat for few seconds, I not have foot pain anymore super, not makes me sleepy.
      Then I take 2x times a day Janumet, but still get 2-3 days a week a little bit sugar crave, I don't know if this is normal with Janumet ALA?
      Now my long time blood glucoes value on empty stomach is 5.1 nort bad.

And don’t forget to take an aspirin a day! Just follow up in 2 weeks!

      Serrapeptase was discovered in the 1960s in Japan. We are impressed with your knowledge base! This is also known as serratiopeptidase. This particular substance is used often in therapeutics and is a proteolytic enzyme. Enzymes are more and more often being used to treat various conditions. Enzymes are selective, efficient and usually safe. Other enzymes that may sound familiar include trypsin, bromelain and papain. Serratiopeptidase has anti inflammatory, anti edema and pain relieving properties. It can break down proteins and fiber in the body. It is a zinc-containing metalloproteinase. The Japanese isolated this molecule from the digestive tract of the silkworm. The molecule has been tested in animal studies and is effective in reducing inflammation. Regarding pain, serratiopeptidase is able to hydrolyse painful cytokines like bradykinin, histamine. It has a very high affinity for the COX enzymes and can selectively destroy them. It has also been shown, in animal studies, to reduce the build up of amyloid-beta in Alzheimer models. Due to bioavailability issues very high doses are usually recommended. One human article tested 10mg twice a day to treat carpal tunnel. This was a success. The oral dosage recommendations range from 10-60mg two or three times daily, with a maximum recommendation of about 180mg daily. It has also been used in injection form for dental issues. Based on the available literature and the use historically, it does seem to be worth considering. Of course, you must discuss this with your treating physician.

      Hi Maggie! Benfotiamine + ALA is a winning combination to support healthy aging and to support healthy cells in the presence of circulating glucose. Of course, we always suggest consulting with your doctor before starting a new supplement!
