  • In this video I talk about the benefits and risks of raw milk and dairy. I also cover how, even though dairy is ok on the carnivore diet, you can still sabotage your weight loss program by consuming too much.

    ☆ ABOUT ME ☆
    I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. At 50, I started an Amazon FBA business. Fun, but neither career allowed time for healthy living.
    Last year, I turned 60, overweight, out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with high cholesterol, and couldn't walk 20 minutes without resting.
    In August 2023, I began the carnivore diet. I lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
    Now, I can walk miles, have normal cholesterol and blood pressure, and am no longer pre-diabetic. I feel 30 years younger, and I'm passionate about sharing my story to help others.

    I live in an area with almost no farms (certainly none with dairy cows), and on top of that it's actually illegal to sell raw dairy in our grocery stores . That being said, while I was traveling about a year ago I made a point to find some raw kefir - it did NOT disappoint! 😍

      One of the farms I visit has raw kefir. It is delicious!

    I was raised on a dairy farm in Oklahoma. I really miss the fresh raw milk.

    I live in a place where raw milk is widely available. Rhe only drawback is that my favourite stall of a good farm at a farmer's market is so popular that I sometimes come to find that all the milk has been sold already.

      Yeah, that happens here too! The first farm I stopped at, and where I had planned to film, was all out.

    This was a lot of help I appreciate it. I already knew about the benefits of raw milk and have been buying it for almost 2 years now, but am brand new to the carnivore diet so I was worried I can't drink it... and now I know I can't drink it nearly as much as I used to 🤣
    Was also neat to see another farm using the honor system, I'm in CT and have been to one of those farms that use the same thing. Love your style of content!!!

      Yes, raw milk is awesome, but watch those carbs!

    Very balanced and thorough video. Curious why you drink so much in a day. Why not just have one cup a day until used up, and not be kicked out of ketosis? Lucky you can get it easily. Not the case everywhere

      @@Jaylwoodworth hi. When on carnivore diet, can raw milk cause weight gain/fat gain?

    I was skeptical at first, but you did mention (thank you!) my pet peeve with people recommending the consumption of foods like raw milk - it can set off the carb-craving. I have the same issue with low-carb, high fat greek yogurts, I ate 5 x 400g just the other day, throughout the day. Luckily I don't have a weight gain problem - never had, but it does mess with my hormones I bet. Dairy isn't recommended for "people with a sweet tooth".

      I have also gotten some sort of bacterial infection or digestive breakdown from drinking too much raw milk a few months back. Really not good again especially if the person can't keep it in check. I drank like 5 liters in about 2 days lol.

      It definitely can. I’ve always been pretty careful with dairy for that reason, but it really put things in perspective for me when I realized that a pint of milk has as many carbs as a potato!

    a few years ago I was adding raw milk to my diet from fairly local cows but the milk was refrigerated at a health food store so never saw the farm. one day I saw blood in my stool (sorry TMI) and it freaked me out. no pain or anything and never again but I didn't buy any more raw milk after that. so its good if you can see where the milk comes from and buy directly from a farm situation and not rely on it being transported somewhere else because bacteria can get in/grow in the milk.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  3 місяці тому +3

      Yes, I always try to buy it right from the farm. One can’t completely eliminate risk, but one can reduce it.

      @@Jaylwoodworth i've done fine with blue cheese made from raw milk. Trader Joes has it here in California. They have a few other raw milk cheeses but a little too pricey.

    I don't know a lot about raw milk. This is very interesting. Not sure if I'll incorporate it into my diet, but I'd like to just try it and see how it tastes. Any different taste-wise than pasteurized milk??

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  3 місяці тому +5

      I find that it tastes richer and creamier - more milky.
