    as I mentioned near the end of my video, there is some controversy surrounding Sarah J. Maas (for various reasons; some claims more substantiated than others). I still posted this video because I believe that everyone has a right to indulge in whatever media they choose, in whatever way aligns with their morals. in general, I urge you to do your own research about any and every person or company you give your hard-earned money to, and find other avenues to partake in their work or products if you choose not to give them monetary support. I felt fine partaking in her writing by borrowing it from the library or friends, and personally don't intend on buying any of her books in the future. there are many alternate resources nowadays to still enjoy the things you want to enjoy while not giving people money, if you disagree with their opinions or ways of doing things. but there are also plenty more talented authors we should be hyping up!! (as I also do briefly in this video)
    all in all, just remember that nuance and empathy are the most important thing you have in order to discern what aligns with your morals and values. the world can be a vicious and cruel place, and it’s okay to allow yourself joy when you find it, as long as it doesn’t directly harm others. way easier said than done in our society, I know, but as I always say, we’re just trying our best out here ♡

    I love your videos Grace. I just have one suggestion: put ads in the middle!😊 If we're sitting down for a one hour vlog, we dont mind watching 2-3 ads in between. We are happy to support your channel ❤

    Hi Grace, loved this hour long vlog! I was wondering if you could do a video about what you wear in a week. You could peiece together clips from different days. And you could do more in the future for different seasons. ❤ I love your sense of fashion and would love to see if you have any tips for diversifying your outfits with a minimalist wardrobe!

    I haven't read these books and I don't intend to, but this was so much fun to watch and so relatable.Your whole range of emotions was a book on itself. On another note, I read Book Lovers because of you and had to read it again as soon as I finished the last page, so so good. Bad news is that books were on my red list for the no-buy. Worth it, though, LOL.

    I wasn't a big fan of ACOTAR and stopped reading halfway through, but Throne of Glass I looooved!! I really did. It kept hitting me with these turns of events I didn't expect, the main character was so badass and there wasn't a single book that felt too long or boring to me. I've reread them already and I still love them. I do recommend!!

    I'm glad you didn't post spoilers, I have only read the first book! At first I thought, "I didn't know this was going to be beauty and the beast fan fiction", then I thought this character is really dumb. By the end I really enjoyed it!

    I had no idea what to expect from this, never watched a book vlog thing but 5 minutes in and I’m loving it! Watching your reactions is amazing! However, I have not read the books BUT I have the first one waiting to be read on my bookshelf, soooooo, I’m gonna pause here and come back in probably 🤔 wait, there’s 5?! ok, a few months 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😄 and the watch this. Then I think I’ll be having a ‘one sided’ conversation with you the whole way thru while watching 😁

    I rated them 4 stars (1st), 5 stars (2nd), 5 stars (3rd), 4 stars (book 3.5) and 4 stars (4th). I wanted to give the 4th one 3 stars because I hated Nesta but I couldn't justify 3 stars for the rest of the book ha. I also think I had similar thoughts as you on Feyre (I listened to the audiobooks while working, I did not physically read them) (also, I would give half stars but Good Reads doesn't do halfs)

    I have not read these books but your reactions remind me of another series that I loved initially and then as I worked through the many sequels I felt tired of the routine and that the books were losing real arcs (how many good arcs can a character or a relationship really have) and it was always just another day another fight like in a computer game. Gave up on like book 8 out of 10.

  • @amara560
    @amara560 2 місяці тому +1

    It was so fun seeing your 'live' reactions to these books! I think in some ways we felt similar and others a bit different. The SJM books that were weakest to me were to ones that had very little fantasy and world-building. And also her pacing has issues, she puts most of the plot in the last 100 pages, but it does make for a pretty solid ending for most, and I agree that the ending to the second book was pretty dang good.
    I hope you do more of these! Would be fun to have a little spoiler section too. I don't mind whatever you read, but something outside of your comfort zone could be cool? Anyway this was really fun!
    My ratings for funsies
    ACOTAR 3,75 stars
    ACOMAF 4,75 stars
    ACOWAR 4,5 stars
    ACOFAS 3,25 stars
    ACOSF 2,5 stars
    Pretty steep decline for me 😅 I personally want to pretend ACOSF doesn't exist 😂
    I was maybe going to read the next book in the series, because of the character it concerns, but the Azriel bonus chapter has me thinking twice...

      LMAO that's soooo fair. and I'd loveee to do more reading vlogs!! I have a few ideas up my sleeve hehe
      but YES the pacing!! like girl make the rest of your book interesting and not JUST cramming it into the last 100 pages every time jeez lmao

    I feel like the Throne of glass series won't be for you because they are more fantasy with romance where these are more romance with fantasy lol if that makes sense. And they are also heavy on the world building. Like you gotta pay attention lol still my favorite series though ❤

    i finally finished reading the first book and remembered your video so came to watch. id like to read the rest i just don’t know if i can handle it, from online i’ve heard it gets progressively more gory and i’m not good with that lol i felt pretty queasy at a few points throughout this book (especially towards the end, the arm injury, i had just eaten lunch and had to take a significant break to not throw up lmao) so how did you find it, does it get worse on the gore? loved your video reaction though it’s such a fun concept and i was glad there weren’t spoilers :)

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  Місяць тому +1

      honestly,, it generally gets more war-focused and smutty as you go, but there's a lot of gore in the first one bc of the trials. there's definitely a bit of gore and injury in other ones though, so if it's not for you, honestly..... you wouldn't be missing out on a lot by skipping out on the rest of the series. it hits a high point at book 2 (for me) and kinda went downhill from there. (lots more war and battle and smut)

    So I started acotar as an audio book, and I fell asleep like a chapter or two in and I woke up into a pretty weird, unexpectedly spicy part (because I was expecting YA, it was labeled YA) and I was clutching my pearls a little and I didn’t finish it because they get progressively spicier, right?

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  Місяць тому

      the first one is the LEAST spicy by far so if that's too much then DEFINITELY don't continue on😂😂 the last one was even a lot for me and I do enjoy a spicy book LOL

    • @dptfo

      @@gracenevittit wasn’t so much the spicy that alarmed me, but the nature of that particular violent kind of spicy, and the direction it seemed like it would take, but so I skipped ahead today, and it doesn’t seem to go only in that direction because the next interaction was more of a loveydovey nature. Loveydovey is fine, and violent in general is fine. But the impression I got and the information I read about it implied that it was all a little iffy. So can you just let me know if it’s not just one long series of uncomfortable violent smut? is it worth continuing?

      @gracenevitt  Місяць тому

      @dptfo AH I know exactly what you're talking about LOL... it gets much more loveydovey in the rest of the books and that instance was pretty standalone in general... the character you're referring to is one you will find out more about later...
