Pity they don’t take good care of the Planes. I hated taking people to it and the sister museums and seeing the dust and neglect. I don’t remember it being that bright. The car section was always dark and dingy.

At a rod & Custom show in '75, I saw what was touted as Hitler's 1943 armored limo. It was battered, with a .45 bullet hole halfway through the 3" thick right rear door window and a hole cut in the rear fender so you could feel the armor plate. It had inner & outer windshield defrosters and could be greased using a dashboard control. It had missing "idiot stick" signals and a RED spotlight on the driver's side. That may be it, totally restored. They should have that window on display. The sign said original windshield was delaminated, possibly because of the inner & outer defroster temperature vs. the middle of the window. (I met a man who claimed to have seen this car late in the war, before it was vandalized).

Admittedly, the glass will be hard to duplicate, although that right rear window with the .45 bullet hole would be a nice display, like the one shown in the vid. El único modelo auténtico y original (no copia) está en Madrid, en la colección de la Casa Real. Fue regalo de Hitler a Franco. Los demás coches fabricados (muy pocas unidades) desaparecieron. España se lo prestó a Mercedes para repararlo, y así hicieron la réplica. Pero el único original es el que está en España.
Hay más de uno. El que está en el museo real es Marrón después del restauró en Alemania. Pero hay varios. En Usa Hay uno en Maryland y otros en Europa del Este. Otro está en Sisheim
