  • Located on the John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA is the Lyon Air Museum. The museum was created to honor the Greatest Generation in Aviation, and has a large collection of WWII era airplanes and vehicles. The collection contains both Allied and Axis vehicles, including a car that once belonged to Adolf Hitler.
Along with the car that belonged to one of history's biggest monsters, at the museum we checked out such planes as the B-17 Flying Fortress, the DC-3, the B-25 Bomber and number of automobiles.
The museum is a true hidden gem in Southern California.
The Lyon Air Museum is located at 19300 Ike Jones Rd, Santa Ana, CA 92707.

I was at this museum about a month ago a buddy and I went there and the Shelby Museum in Irvine same day. Being an Aircraft Mechanic for 17 years and having some of my companies aircraft there was pleasant surprise. Our tour guide was a real nice guy and we talked Aircraft for a long while.

I visited my parents in San Diego for Christmas and because of your video, we made a trip to the Lyon Air Museum. You were right, it is a hidden gem! I told many of the curators about you and this episode of Sidetrack Adventures. They were all excited and looked forward to watching it. It's amazing that all the aircraft and vehicles are in pristine and working condition. My parents, wife, daughter, and I really enjoyed our visit. We then headed over to Ballast Point Brewery at Seal Beach for a wonderful lunch and delicious brews. Thanks again for your terrific and inspiring videos, San Diego Steve! :)

First of all, excellent video quality. Viewing this on a 77" LG OLED and the quality is stunning. Great commentary. I am a huge WW2 enthusiast and seeing that B-17 was awesome. One minor complaint is the nose art didn't look era to me. That style of font wasn't used back then and Elmer Fudd was way off. I wish the artist they hired would have done more research. But, that's a minor complaint. Excellent job. Again, video quality is super amazing.

He didn't know until he was told when he brought her back to United States. Come to find out my client was a multi millionaire . He always said that he was going to donate both cars to a museum. He told me he bought it only for the history aspect of it and it should be preserved .

He kept crime down, the streets were clean & Germans had money in their pockets. Chairman Stalin however starved & enslaved his own people. Kept everyone poor, unsafe & living in a state of fear. Communism is equal opportunity suffering for all, while National Socialism was selective suffering(political enemies, POW's, Yoo Know Who's etc.) with millions being allowed to live a decent life.

The Commies stole three others and destroyed them, and Canadian Paratroopers who were actually the first allies in Berlin Not the US and not the Commies as they both falsely claimed for 70 years due to their little deals they made with one another. This exact car is very well known historically, it is merely a staff car meaning Hitler never rode or drove it it was driven by and for German Staff Officers

This Mercedes is a gift from Adolf Hitler to Finnish Commander in chief, Marshall Mannerheim, of Finland in year 1941. It has special equupments designed specially for the winter weather conditions of Finland such as Schneeketten (snow chains) for the wheels of that Mercedes. I hope it returns to Finland. It was sold to a Swedish man in 1940's who has regretted to have sold it to the USA where it has been falsely presented as a war trophy "Hitler 's car". With kind wishes, Miss Marjaana Nivala, a Christian from Finland

❤❤❤ That's interesting, because Walt Disney ended up in California too, what a coincidence, which really wasn't a coincidence. They're related and they're completely missed by history ❤❤❤
