I did not even catch that during the question and answers. That is hilarious! It just goes to show maybe you should watch Jun and Rachel’s videos more than one time!
What the poster meant was whether cats needed to be 'microchipped' in Japan. While not compulsory, it's very recommended to keep your cats microchipped because they can be found more easily in case they ever get lost.
It was pretty heartbreaking to hear how Rachel was treated (I hadn't heard the story about the surprise gift until now). She shouldn't have been put into a position where she had to explain things at all.
Yeah... like OMG... when Rachel was talking about how much she cried after she felt like she ruined Jun's video... I vaguely remember seeing loads of people say that she seems ungrateful, I'm actually so sad I didn't speak up and say something now. Of course we can't speak for others and I didn't know about her mental health issues, but still, damn... even if she didn't like the surprise or didn't LOOK like she liked it, I wouldn't have had a problem with her not being overtly ecstatic over presents, some people are just kind of stoic like that even if they are super happy.
yea i had no idea, and i never judged her reaction in the first place, but does go to show how ignorant people can be on the internet. rachel didn’t owe us an explanation at all. its messed up, but with “fame” everyones always got something bad to say. it was literally a cooking video and people found something to criticize them about.
This was so upsetting. I remember that video and at the time I thought she just didn't feel well (like health wise). Her energy was just kinda low compared to her usual bubbly personality. I had no idea people were so mean to her about it!! Jeez. Being judged for a few out of context seconds of video?? Folks need to calm down.
This is real life. I'm glad she's able to put it in words and keep everyone in check. Because us as viewers we dont see behind the scenes or the cost that comes with making beautiful videos. Financial emotional and the time. 😁🥰🥰🥰🥰
Imagine people being upset that they have sponsorships. Like the content is free and they have bills, if you want content they need to make a living somehow. Much love guys keep doing what ur doing!
They having been said, I like how they're not just money-grabbing any random thing thrown their way. Mad respect that they look into the companies for sponsorship and for merch.
Rachel talking about her depression and anxiety was really eye opening and an important reminder to people that you never know what is going on behind the scenes. People being angry at her for her reaction to jun's surprise must have been so awful for her. From our perspective Rachel & Jun seem to have this perfect idealic life and relationship but the fact that Rachel was feeling like theres no point to existence at some point, just goes to show you can never understand what someone is going through from just seeing their public personas. She also isn't obligated to tell everyone what she is personally going through but was brave enough to give us a little insight here. So please remember that you don't know what people are going through and be patient & kind
Seconded. Rachel, thank you for sharing (and for your support, Jun). I almost started crying when you were talking about your downward spiral (which is amazing because my own brand of depression leaves me emotionally numb). And to all the negative Nancies in the comments, I understand that sometimes we get upset on someone else's behalf. That's okay, because empathy leads to compassion, right? You were feeling hurt for Jun. However, as stated above...we really don't know what goes on behind-the-scenes. That said, rather than using the comment section to vent negative feelings and thoughts based on incomplete knowledge, let's try to lift one another up instead, yeah?
Well...everyone is weird. What is normal? People cope with their emotions differently. And actions aren't always a true reflection of emotions. Anyway, that's subjective. What is a true reflection of emotion? Your truth might be different from another's truth since we learn those reflections as we grow. Maybe Jun's actions aren't how some would have reacted, but I recognise this type reaction. Also his actions on-camera might/probably aren't the same as they would be off-.
@@strongerthaneverph I don’t think you meant it in a horrible way but calling his actions weird comes across a bit tone deaf considering the main comment here is talking about not judging someone for a fraction of their behaviour that you see online.
@@hauwley I don't understand what's so hard about saying you don't want kids though. It's a simple question, people ask it because generally everyone does want kids, so it's a departure from the norm to not have them. It's not like people asking are saying there's anything wrong with them not having kids. Rachel went on a tangent about women only being for childbearing but the comment didn't say anything about that.
@@toperishtwice The comment was rude, it did say having too many cats was sad. We never know what other people are going through and don't want to talk about. Maybe they want kids some day, maybe they don't, maybe they have fertility issues, who knows. It's normal to wonder but some people are too pushy and rude.
Imagine having the audacity to ask complete strangers about their family planning while simultaneously insinuating that having pets is weird in any way? The nerve of some people.
Story of my life really. I've just entered my thirties and I still have no husband(or boyfriend no less) and people are worried about that. Like...first of all, my lifestyle is none of you business. Secondly, I'm ace and have no inkling for romance or sex. And lastly, as long as I can take care of myself, I need no man to do it for me and no kids to make me feel accomplished. But if others want that, that's cool. I'm just happy being single and a proud cat mama uwu
Honestly! Like would you are someone directly about their uterus or testicles and what they want to do with them cause that's pretty much what you're doing and it's awkward as hell.
"We're going to accept more sponsporships." YES. DO IT. We'll understand your saving up for important things! I'll help by just letting every ad play on your vids
@Kook no, don't do that, it actually hurts their ability to get recommended and get on top of search results if a lot of people did not watch a lot of the video
Same...as long as it's not like 30-58 mins long ads (yep saw one of those once and I was like thank god for the skip button because it's not like I didn't come on here to watch something for 20 mins or so just to watch something that's longer and I'm not interested in).
Rachel: *is enjoying married life doing all the things she's ever wanted, doesn't need children to fill a "void"* Comments: YOU ARE USING CATS TO FILL YOUR BARREN WOMB YOU CHILDLESS WENCH Rachel: nono- Jun: *smooshes face into cat* mmmmm cat
@@rachelrecycles369 that's kinda cruel, but understandable. Some people just need to learn to mind their own business 🤷♀️ they gotta understand being a woman doesn't mean you have to want a child
Damn, my perspective on some of the R&J fans changed a lot after watching this video. C'mon now guys, we can be better than this. Learn to be mindful on what you say as it really comes off the wrong way. Some comments are also blatantly disrespectful.
@@tjl4688 I doubt the people telling them this live in Japan or are actually thinking of Japan’s population crisis. In fact, most are probably not thinking much of it as they pressure strangers to adhere to their envisioned lifestyle.
@@tjl4688 No it's not... Not at all. In fact, Japan has one of the lowest birthrates because no one wants to have kids over there. A lot of younger people/families just want to focus on careers.
Agreed. Loving someone isn’t ONLY skinship. You can have deep conversations, rely on one another and simply just enjoy each others company in expressing your love. I feel that definition of being married or dating has become completely distorted this generation.
I read it as they talk about it between themselves, "I'll just let her share her feelings to everyone else in her own words uninterrupted." - and in that setting, cuddle with the cats
I hope the fact that she brought it up in a FAQ and then dramatically didn't answer the question would send the hint to these people that they know some people are curious but they want to keep this part of their private lives private..... but somehow I doubt it.
I honestly think some fans are pickme bitches who are thirsty for Jun, because it seems like the negative and rude comments are always people trying to undermine Rachel's confidence or question her position as a wife. They are jealous.
I love how some people's comments are so rudely thrown out there and Rachel and Jun are just so chill answering respectfully. That talks a LOT about who you are. :)
I think the “owning too many cats replacing children/become sad” comment is bit offensive, there are people who prefer not to have children, which should be okay.
I agree that it's rude, and it's extremely none of their business. No one owes anyone an explanation for why they do or don't have kids or how pets may factor into that.
Some people dont want kids, but there are many people that would like to have them but cant. When you dont earn enough its not possible. I know that there are parents out there that think "even though we dont earn much it is gonna work." No, its not!
It’s also incredibly insensitive. What if they have been trying for years and it just hasn’t happened? Regardless, it’s very hurtful and shouldn’t be brought up.
Yeah. I was listening to this in the background and multiple times I had to pause the video and rewind it because surely I didn’t hear that right. Especially the cat and child question! I found that one extremely rude!! I feel bad that they have to deal with this sometimes.
It’s funny because as a natural redhead myself, my eyebrows are quite a bit darker than my hair color so I felt that look. My hair is an auburn red and my eyebrows are straight up dark brown. No idea why but that’s always been the case!
Jun speaks English beautifully, pronounces words correctly, and appears comfortable in front of the camera. That doesn't mean that Rachel is "stealing his thunder", she is naturally more bubbly in general when she isn't having a tough day. Jun is perfectly eloquent, but so is Rachel.
It's that old "Women should just be quiet," misogynist trope. My husband is quiet too- he's an introvert. We function just fine together. He talks when he feels like it. He likes my stories. I like his, too. I talk more in public situations. He talks more in private, when he feels like opening up.
I think Rachel overtalks most of the time. I wish she had given more floor to Jun. As much as I like their videos, I have seen Rachel being very disrespectful and unappreciative towards Jun. My Japanese friend says that Rachel is passive aggressive and yes, I can see that.
rachel is talking about how people missjudged her based on a small reaction an a youtube video, meanwhile people in this comment section judging jun for his reaction to her talking about this.... lmao just enjoy their videos and stop assuming things
People don't understand that this couple are real people who can't always be at their 100%, just because they usually try to show their best sides for the camera. They probably expected Jun to be more supportive and engaged instead of turning away from the topic to play with cats, but you could tell he was doing that specifically because it was hard for him to listen to his wife describe her ordeal and was trying not to be upset on camera as he probably relived some of those dark moments. You would think people would have picked up on that especially after how they talked about how this video is basically improv, and at one point he seems to wipe away a tear. People are just terrible.
I was surprised to hear people reacted poorly to her reaction on that video. They probably don't know Rachel (maybe they only watch Jun's channel) but that's still no excuse to hate on someone. When I heard her say, "what is it?" in Jun's video, I laughed because I would've reacted the same way, especially knowing now that Jun told her that it was food. Like even without knowing the situation, they could've thought "oh, maybe she's awkward in front of the camera" or "she showed her appreciation off camera". Why people just jumped to bashing her is so upsetting and baffling.
I assumed she was very tired when she asked, "What is it?" I didn't assume the worse and didn't bash. I wish people weren't so judgemental or would stop and think before posting harsh comments.
why the hell do people assume *you're* "not letting" Jun talk? Wth lol he's a grown adult and you're not holding a knife to his throat... you're not even interrupting him 🤦
people are so rude and condescending. Rachel and Jun are literally the most unproblematic couple there is, just have some respect. stop asking ridiculous questions about babies or Jun is just quieter.
@@Kattzal yes, all of them are great! Who are your fav couple you'd want me to check? My recent find is nic &cheese, they're not unproblematic, but so fun! If anyone want to suggest me, i'm open to all kinds of couple as long as in english/ has english subtitle, thanks!
Probably to comfort/distract the cats? They're pretty sensitive to the change in their owner's moods so Jun was trying to keep Haku and Poki calm so Rachel didn't feel bad about talking about her experiences.
"Owning that many cats must be sad after a while" Me: looks at my five year plan Five year plan: GET 30 CATS AND MAKE THEIR NAMES RHIME... and maybe a dog AND 30 CATS! (Really this is my dream)
Beware of the parable of Ishkabibble. Never name your cat anything you would be embarrassed to have your neighbors hear you screaming at 3am after your cat decided to escape to explore the great outdoors.
I'm so glad that Rachel has been prioritising her health first, and that's been the reason why the main channel has been quieter. Let's be real: this year has been a b*tch, and depression just compounds all of what's going on in the world to make things worse. Massive love to you both; we'll see you when we see you.
Just a small reminder to some who don't seem to remember, but like all youtubers, Rachel and Jun are real people! They deserve your respect and have the same right to privacy that everyone does.
What’s funny is that Poki’s meow also sounds like a ‘No...’ and was said a bit earlier than Rachel but it sounded almost like they said it at the same time
"yOuR eYeBrOwS aRe ToO dArK" Rachel: *comes back with eyebrows twice as dark and a just a little thicker, and then wears them the rest of the video* I loved it! lol but I really wish that she had thought to gradually add more and more eyebrow makeup until they were both so thick that they could be moustaches.
My heart broke hearing about Rachel's anxiety and depression during the "Presents for my wife's birthday" video. We all need to make an effort to judge less and appreciate more. Thank you Rachel for sharing ❤️
It’s like really people, aside from the “just don’t be a jerk” clause that should exist in your existence as a human package, The heck? UA-cam wasn’t a thing for most of us growing up, it wasn’t around when they were kids for sure! You are getting free entertainment from good people who care a hecking lot about you and the quality of the things they are advertising to their viewers. I mean Heck! Rachel took like 15 minutes to display every function of the merch shirts they made! Bleh... gonna say it because of what she said about fans being friends. Odds of me ever being in Japan are pretty slim but it’s safe to say many of us feel a kinship to you both, so it’s personally insulting that they be rude to you, cause you don’t get to be rude to my (pseudo internet) friends! XD (also have depression, also loves cooking, also enjoys fashion, and spending time outside... my red hair isn’t as natural as hers though haha) So yeah, you guys have friends here, we will try to bury the haters in hairballs
I don't want to psycho-analyze Jun so I will talk from personal experience: I usually try to distract myself whenever a person close to me talk about her mental hardship while I am near, due to it being taxing for my own emotions and I do not want to show weakness in front of her in those situations. But yeah, he also really seem to adore his cats, so there might be absolutely nothing to it.
@@Angel-rh2lo @Ziirf I know that he is very supportive of her but he also loves the bois. I wasn't trying to say there was anything wrong with that (if that is what y'all were thinking, if not disregard this) And Ziirf I can relate to that, my mom talks to me about some of her mental struggles, and sometimes I'll cry because I feel the pain in some way, so I try to distract myself in some way, but also still listen.
I find the whole pressure people to have kids otherwise they’ll be miserable is pretty awful. Like children aren’t something you have if you don’t want them or are indifferent to. I feel like they should be a hell yes (sure one can have doubts) or a no. Having and raising a child isn’t something you can screw up. That’s gonna be an actually living person and if you or your partner (if you have one) don’t feel onboard to have a child or you’re not mentally or physically ready for any reason you can wait until you feel in a better place or even never have kids at all. Heck you don’t even have to have a reason to not have kids, if it’s not something you want people should respect that.
Meanwhile, I have a shitty co-worker popping them out left and right and she loses custody of every single one (currently pregnant again as I type this, and the state is advising for her to abort it - this is hearsay but yeah), while here I am trying to have even one child with my husband and am struggling. Sorry, just venting and am salty.
i think it was the same with eat your kimchi? they didn't want kids and needed to take time off from their channel for health reasons and people had to come to grips with them being real people with a real life that could possibly be more important than youtube
Yess! It's better to have no kids at all rather than having kids when you're not ready to have kids. I find there's always this war of "you NEED to have kids" vs "kids are HORRIBLE crotch gremlins" and i really don't like that. People need to learn to accept others opinions and to be humble about their own opinion.
Being childfree myself, I feel like the people that attack me the most are the ones that regret having children themselves. Somehow I never get flak from parents who seem genuinely happy with their own life. Maybe it's a "If I'm suffering then so must you" kind of thing?
Okay but why aren’t we talking about how Rachel helped Jun finish his video right after a panic attack and ended up getting hate for her reaction? Rachel didn’t deserve that and she’s so strong for doing what she could :(( It’s awful to hear that she went through that, thank you for everything Rachel!!
I looked back in that video, I just assumed when I first watched it she had just got back from work and was really tired, she has a right to be grumpy, she has a right to feel depressed,. I dare anyone to say that they’ve never felt the cold, tight grip of depression at least once in their life!
It's because people never consider what goes on behind the scenes, behind the camera. When I watched the video I didn't find her reaction something to be upset about. I mean, he lied about it being food, I would've been lowkey unimpressed with being lied to LOL. That aside, she had a panic attack that we didn't know about until now :(
The gift he made was the oil and chapsticks if I remember correctly, it’s understandable why you had such a muted reaction at first if you weren’t feeling good before it even happened. However, after that, when Jun told you he made it by hand, you did sound appreciative, Rachel, so I don’t know why the comments were still getting mad at the start..
@@kendalljennings3417 LOL nah like I'm super negative alot of the time, but these people are just plain old stinky bitter a**holes. How can they hate on such a beautiful couple smh..
The story about people getting mad at you over the Jun's Kitchen video has my blood BOILING, oh my god. Rachel, I am so, so sorry that people thought they could treat you that way. This is what we mean when we say "you have no idea what kind of battles other people are fighting." The people who get so angry at strangers for not seeming happy enough don't know or care about the circumstances surrounding a situation, they only see a small fraction and think they have the full picture, and it frustrates me to no end. Your struggles with depression really resonated with me and I don't know how much comfort it comes as, but I'm proud of you for putting your mental health first and I only wish the best for you. Here's hoping the next Q&A session has people acting a little more polite and a little less entitled to your time and energy. Much love from me and my kitty Willow!
I couldn’t tell if Rachel was about to have a panic attack or break down from being forced go back and relive the experience she wanted to forget. It’s not sad how they as a couple have three cats and Rachel isn’t popping babies out because she’s a woman. It’s not even sad how they’re choosing to live their married life. It’s sad that as human beings, people can say this to the poor woman because they’re protected behind a screen. Jun and Rachel are arguably the most approachable, loving and sweet natured couple, and I admire jun and Rachel for being the bad bitches they are. YALL ARE THE CUTEST COUPLE IVE EVER SEEN AND YOU DONT NEED TO FOLLOW SOCIETIES COMMON BELIEFS AND RULES. like literally go buy another cat to shove it in their face ✨❤️

Me: I have a boyfriend and I have a yandere child, a dense child, and 2 kawaii childern. **Gestures towards my Standardbred gelding and 3 sheep.** I see no problem here.
You two are so cute. Yes life sucks sometimes. You are both so strong. I guess UA-cam requires such a thick skin. You do a fantastic job and It's great that you determine a schedule that's right for you. 💓😷😊
Adding my small voice to the sea to tell you: you don't owe any one of us on the internet your person, least of all the viewers who only like you when you're happy.
The when I saw that video was really concerned, at first upset by her tone, but then I noticed her eyes looked teary, sad and tired. It makes sense her tone was like that, it's hard to be happy during/after a panic attack, I've had plenty enough to know, it's hard to put on a smile afterwards unless I have UA-cam, horses, or Minecraft there. But even those can cause panic attacks I've nearly fainted on my horse before due to having flashback of being thrown off by him. I usually am a shy tsundere, but during times my Anxiety is at its peak, I become a aggressive tsundere, anger fits, bitey comments, rude attitude, etc. Or I'll become a shaking clumsy nervous wreck who nearly faints and cries all the time. The side effects of my Anxiety arent pretty either, I throw up when under pressure and have certain foods in my stomach. I hope Rachel gets better spiritually, as she recovers from self isolation issues. Id recommend lots of cat and Jun cuddles if she likes hugs. These times have been rough on us all.
also, get more sponsorship, and use cats for the sponsor part of the video, because why not? Maybe the sponsor will be okay because people already bought their merch which only has cats printed on (very cute three of course, not trying to downplay how amazing the materials are and how detailed Rachel on picking it. It is an amazing shirt that I'd want to wear too).
Humans first instinct is to react the way we are used to according to how our lives have typically been. I hope in the future we learn to actually look deeper before we speak.
All these questions are so weirdly accusatory and judgemental. I guess it just speaks to the parasocial relationship... people get a wee glimpse into your life and suddenly think they have the right to ask invasive questions. Granted it was a Q&A but even so, most of these were just needlessly hostile.
Not just that, but Jun is an adult. If he wanted to speak, he can. Rachel doesn't threaten him into silence. I've heard Japanese people tend to be quieter (usually) anyways than us westerners. Besides, that frees him up to play with the cats, lol.
I'd be happy for that commenter to sponsor me to test their theory! I wonder how many cats one needs before one becomes sad. Happy to be sponsored to carry out this valuable research. 😊
Seeing you guys talking about sponsorships and ad revenue makes me sad tbh. I have been watching you both and your cats for so many years now and I have never seen any ads on your videos. You guys put so effort and time into filming and editing these videos, you two deserve that ad revenue because of all the hard work you put, please don’t feel guilty about it. I will comment this on literally every video hoping you’ll see this. You two and your cats deserve the world. ♥️
"I am planning to live in that house for the rest of my life so I don't CARE!" Exactly!!! That's what I said to my dad when he criticized the plan my fiancé and I have for our home that we want to build (It has an entryway/interior courtyard that is completely enclosed by house. We call it the catyard.)
It's Americans pushing their American ideas on Japan. A lot of people care about their "property value" even though it doesn't even matter in Japan. Especially the stupid question about why is your house so cat orientated. Maybe because Japan just loves cats. It's not like they have a whole island dedicated to stray cats.
People keep talking about my house being so nice because it'll appreciate but dude idgaf because I don't plan on leaving. I have so many grand plans for cat shelving and I always get the 'you'll have a lot of repair to do once you sell so you can get a profit' I LIVE HERE AND DON'T WANT TO LEAVE. The only benefit I get out of appreciation is property tax creep 😭
My heart goes out to Rachel. Depression and anxiety can be terribly crippling. Being a drop dead gorgeous red head married to a great guy with two decent cats doesn't always make for an ideal life. Both can be helped. Never let it go without help before it becomes crushing. So many people think you can just "think happy thoughts" and all will be ok. Its brain chemistry. You just can't fix it that way. It can also be extremely hard on the spouse trying to deal with the ups and downs. My hats off to Jun.
Idk he sounds like a Japanese person speaking English (like me and my dad (who is also Japanese) do when speaking English). Maybe we can tell it's not someone's native language because we sound like them :p
@Tiger King wowww someone's mad for no reason. No need for you to be angry when I asked a simple question that wasn't even derogatory. You've answered it either way though, Jun doesn't have any kind of an American accent, he speaks English well but anyone who speaks it natively would ever doubt that
@Tiger King yes dude I'm American and even if I wasn't why wouldn't I be able to know? It doesn't sound anything like an American accent you don't hear a difference between him and Rachel?
I didn't even know there was "scandal" for you guys. You're one of the coolest UA-cam couples in my humble opinion. I hope you continue to feel better, Rachel, and always remember to keep building that ladder! And Jun, your English is near perfect, better than a lot of people who speak English as a native language. I also loved seeing a Pichi in the top left corner, so thank you for the really smart camera angle!
Buying a house just because of resell value literally makes no sense. You buy/build a house to live in it for the rest of your life without worrying about rent! To feel safe and completely independent!
Because the commenters are Americans who don't understand how other people live in other countries. Most of the time you build a house and sell it to the highest bidder and hope that your "property value" doesn't go down. Capitalism in a nutshell
I've got a friend with five kids. They have moved a few times as their family grew. And when the kids move out, they will probably sell and move somewhere smaller. If they lost a hundred grand on every house they had, they wouldn't have been able to afford the house they have now. It depends on your goals. To break it down by country is ridiculousness.
Relying on the housing market to get your money back is just not a smart "investment" move. It really only makes sense to consider a house an investment if you are making income from renting it out.
@@kaedatiger I disagree. Blindly hoping your house doesn't lose value is a bad idea. Buying a popular style home in a good location with the intent on only living there for a short amount of time can be a good investment. There is no reason you can't make your home part of an investment strategy.
People can be so rude :( Lol at pre-emptive response about Jun not talking. I have to do that all the time because people will be like "shut up and let your husband talk". I will give him so much time to speak but he prefers it if I talk because of course, not his native language. He also spends all his time at work talking, sometimes he wants to just chill. Even when couples have a baby, you immediately get asked "wHeN aRe YoU hAvInG a SeCoNd BaBy?!" Even when we shared our infertility issues and the whole journey of IVF.... apparently we should be popping out more babies!
Well, about the not having children but only cats: my mother told me more than ones that people like that are egocentric....I have 4 cats and no children (by choice) so after a few times I told her that her comments are hurtfull to me. I think those remarks are pure stupidity. And for you guys having to answer more ‘stupid’ questions: well done. You guys are great. 😃
@@ali_tafa006 Sadly they're still people thinking, because UA-camrs or others share some part of their life, its a right to comment everything they (the viewers) want. They didn't even think about it anymore.

Man, as someone with dysthymia, your tmi section really resonated with me. So many people can't believe me when I tell them I have depression because to them I look happy. Stay well/get better!
I don't have dysthymia but sometimes when I'm dealing with bouts of depression some people don't realize because from the outside I look happy. It's a coping mechanism mostly because if I look sad or upset people will ask me what's wrong and it's hard to answer when I don't even know myself so I put on a facade to avoid the questions. I hope you feel better!
eeeeyyyy....we can be dysthymia buddies! xD Seriously though, I'm glad Rachel's doing what's best for her and not forcing herself to go on camera when she's not up to it. I'd rather have a handful of fun videos over the course of a year instead of forcing her to make a bunch and be miserable the entire time. (and this year has been bad across the board so)- take care of each other, Rachel & Jun! And you too Meital. :)
eyyy same! it's one of my main problems when interacting with people face to face if I'm doing a good job showing emotions because its either the convo turns awkward or they get concerned about me and it still turns awkward orz
Some of the questions were really rude :( but thank you for being open about your mental health, it's reassuring to have influencers with such a big following who are still normal people
Ok guys, Basically if you want MORE Jun videos, make sure Rachel is happy and appreciated!! I personally don't mind seeing Rachel happy cuz they are happy with their life. Happy Wife = Happy Jun.
Haha, it's true there's some modesty on Jun's part but as they were saying throughout, people (as a whole) will brutally judge any weakness on the internet and expect perfection... So I can kinda see where he might be coming from
@@korncobb8808 absolutely agree. Just because his English sounds nearly perfect when he prepared for a video doesn't mean that it is easy to speak spontaneously.
@@korncobb8808 For real!! People criticized you for your reaction on Jun's gift?! When I saw it, I thought 'aww she was being shy!' I knew you loved them because it was a gift from your husband.
My husband, from next to me on the sofa: "We love you, Rachel! F the haters!" 💜 Me, a person with years of experience struggling with depression: "We love you, Rachel! F the haters!" 💜
As someone contemplating getting a cat and very tired of being asked if I want kids, Rachel's black-and-white dramatic "barren" moment was amazing and very relatable.
I’ve been owned by cats since I was 21. I knew I didn’t want children when I was 12. I’m now 40, am still owned by cats and still don’t have or want human children. I got rid of the “when are you having children?” question when I started telling people my personal boundaries didn’t allow them to ask me that, the same I’d never ask them how they wipe their arses, for example. Problem solved!
Why so many rude comment? I mean even they are kinda public figures but they still need some privacy. Some ppl are so nosy nowadays. Why can’t we just come to see Jun and Rachel and sleepy Haku or noisy Poki or something else happily?
The kid question ughhh... I am 25 and my aunts always ask about that, by now it has become so annoying. I literally get a lecture whenever I say "I am not having kids" and they respond with "give it 2 years." I am perfectly happy as I am and would rather go traveling and enjoy myself and my youth. I don't plan on having kids or getting married why is that so wrong, it is my life and my body, plus I would be a bad mother since I have no maternal instinct whatsoever. They still call me selfish it's so dumb like I am depriving them of something...
I think it’s wonderful that you take charge of what happens to your body, not to mention, you are also thinking of what’s best for the non existent child, you don’t what the child to grow up in a household where the mother doesn’t feel a connection with them, that’s a sign of being responsible, good for you!!.
I agree so much. Our generation finally has the chance to be perfectly happy as you describe it, and not having to give in about this topic is so important for me, too. Never let people take away your freedom and your inner peace because they think you should or shouldn't do something!
The kid question was disrespectful, it’s not that people are “too shy to ask” it’s no ones business. There are many reasons why people choose to or not to have children, then theres people who want children but can’t or really struggle having them, miscarry, are infertile, you never know. Mind your own business.
I can see why Rachel is hesitant to do more videos. Women always get criticized for everything they do and say and every expression on their face is hyper interpreted almost always to be negative. They get criticized for their looks -- not enough makeup and you're "not trying" . .too much and you're 'trying too hard' or 'eyebrows too dark', their clothes, their style or lack thereof. If they have kids they receive every criticism under the sun for the way they interact with their baby, feed, clothe, sleep schedule, EVERYTHING and then also criticized for not looking like a supermodel immediately after birth and then every day thereafter (see also: looks comments). , if they don't they are coldhearted weird cat ladies, or going against nature or whatever. It is so much easier to be a dude on social media -- you can wear what you want with simple hair and no makeup and not have your looks hyper criticized and if you have a baby and change 1 diaper you're the world's greatest hero, if you don't have kids you're just a dude living free, etc.
common sense train coming through: - asking women/couples about their plans for children can easily be a very invasive thing to do. there are a bunch of reasons why this can be a sensitive topic and not everyone wants to talk about it in public. Also, assuming that women want kids is enhancing stereotypes and puts pressure and expectations on us. Whether someone wants children or not is not a question of gender. Woman does not equal mother. Be considerate. - depression does hit hard and it hits even worse during a pandemic. rachel & jun are not obligated to be entertaining to you, just because they have a youtube channel. bad days come and sometimes they don't go for a while, but we should always be aware that behind someone's behavior, there is a bigger picture. Thank you rachel for being so open about your mental health and I wish you all the best. I'm sure you will be better again. Very inspiring to see you putting your mental health first :)
Also, to add on, I am in a non-hetero relationship. I get asked a lot “When will you have children?” “Don’t you think it would legitimize your marriage if you had kids?” I love the idea of having children but people are so pushy about it.
Ugh I'm totally for mental health awareness. But it's so hard and awkward to talk about my own battle. Maybe I'm still working up to it. But its super encouraging to see others working through it
Also!!! Not every woman has a uterus and not every person who has a uterus is a woman! Plus with this in mind, some people's uteri just don't work properly. I'm a nonbinary person with family history of reproductive system issues and I really don't want kids.
I'm a hetero woman who never wanted kids. Even when I was a child, I had zero interest in playing with doll babies. I went straight to stuffed animals and Barbies. I love the way Rachel and Jun just didn't answer the question. It's their business, not ours.
@@sweetmouse6277 So you understand her depression much more than the HUSBAND of the person with the depression and can immediately draw this conclusion with no knowledge of whatever he did in the background to nurse her back from her depression?

Thank you for being so open about mental health, Rachel. It's a really important to talk about. I think a lot of people that suffer from anxiety and depression took a big hit this year.
I think people who normally don't have anxiety or depression also took a big hit this year. I wonder if part of the pushback in the US on continuing lockdowns and closures are because many people began to discover things that they had hidden by keeping too busy during the day to think about the things. Now with time to reflect at home, the facade has broken, and issues have appeared.
It's got to be hard to be an "ideal" public figure online, let alone a woman online. I'm a stranger who doesn't know you at all, but still sending love to you guys for making videos that feel like a warm hug. Thank you!
You guys are just the best! I feel SO BAD that people attacked Rachel over that Juns cooking video. I have some anxiety issues and can totally imagine that whole scene playing out. Sometimes you just can’t turn it on.
"Why put effort into making videos when you can just sit here and let your wife do all the work?" Rachel, you should have stayed married to Poki. He's a rugged outlaw from the mountain. Jun just cooks stuff.
Rachel: Poki are you a illegal cat
Jun: he is from the mountain ⛰
Listen Poki, ain't no mountain high
Ain't no valley low, ain't no river wide enough Poki

No matter how far, don't worry Poki

I did not even catch that during the question and answers. That is hilarious!
It just goes to show maybe you should watch Jun and Rachel’s videos more than one time!
What the poster meant was whether cats needed to be 'microchipped' in Japan. While not compulsory, it's very recommended to keep your cats microchipped because they can be found more easily in case they ever get lost.
Poki the Mountain God slumming at Jun & Rachel's home, "FEED ME, HUMAN!!!"

@@strongerthaneverph I don’t think you meant it in a horrible way but calling his actions weird comes across a bit tone deaf considering the main comment here is talking about not judging someone for a fraction of their behaviour that you see online.

rachel is talking about how people missjudged her based on a small reaction an a youtube video, meanwhile people in this comment section judging jun for his reaction to her talking about this.... lmao just enjoy their videos and stop assuming things
Best statement!!!
I assumed she was very tired when she asked, "What is it?" I didn't assume the worse and didn't bash. I wish people weren't so judgemental or would stop and think before posting harsh comments.

But yeah, he also really seem to adore his cats, so there might be absolutely nothing to it.
I'm sure he's very supportive to her. they seem to understand each other very well.
15:15 i love this mans hahaha
@@Angel-rh2lo @Ziirf I know that he is very supportive of her but he also loves the bois. I wasn't trying to say there was anything wrong with that (if that is what y'all were thinking, if not disregard this)
And Ziirf I can relate to that, my mom talks to me about some of her mental struggles, and sometimes I'll cry because I feel the pain in some way, so I try to distract myself in some way, but also still listen.

@@Rezzmari I mean there’s always adoption, which is better for everyone

What video is this?
@@dragon-mw5ru "Cooking birthday presents for my wife!", it was about 2 years ago.
It's because people never consider what goes on behind the scenes, behind the camera. When I watched the video I didn't find her reaction something to be upset about. I mean, he lied about it being food, I would've been lowkey unimpressed with being lied to LOL. That aside, she had a panic attack that we didn't know about until now :(
@OtakuMegane ohhhh
Jun's answer "Seriously though? We just like cats."
A cat room could easily be converted into anything. A wine cellar, a gaming room, a small office. Why are people being so closedminded?

As someone with straight black hair, I can't tell you how pretty your hair is, it looks like autumn and a warm cup of tea very lovely and cosy
Just, Rachel is aesthetics

I think he might've felt awkward and guilty for forcing her to be in the video that got her so many hate and that's why he was so avoidant.
i'd have felt bad and sad to reminice of this so i empathize with Jun 100%
I agree
Humans first instinct is to react the way we are used to according to how our lives have typically been. I hope in the future we learn to actually look deeper before we speak.
All these questions are so weirdly accusatory and judgemental. I guess it just speaks to the parasocial relationship... people get a wee glimpse into your life and suddenly think they have the right to ask invasive questions. Granted it was a Q&A but even so, most of these were just needlessly hostile.
Even when jun didn't speak much, his existence by Rachel's side gave me warm feelings. Having a prtner just be by ur side sometimes is all we need.
Not just that, but Jun is an adult. If he wanted to speak, he can. Rachel doesn't threaten him into silence. I've heard Japanese people tend to be quieter (usually) anyways than us westerners. Besides, that frees him up to play with the cats, lol.

I miss having cats. If I had any, I would totally have a house built for them.
Jun: *buries face in furrball Haku*
Me: "You've made the right choice"
"I am planning to live in that house for the rest of my life so I don't CARE!"
Exactly!!! That's what I said to my dad when he criticized the plan my fiancé and I have for our home that we want to build (It has an entryway/interior courtyard that is completely enclosed by house. We call it the catyard.)
That sounds awesome!!
It's Americans pushing their American ideas on Japan. A lot of people care about their "property value" even though it doesn't even matter in Japan. Especially the stupid question about why is your house so cat orientated. Maybe because Japan just loves cats. It's not like they have a whole island dedicated to stray cats.
If I ever was in a position to buy a house here in Canada, and there was one built for cats, I would totally buy it. Sounds like a dream come true
That's sound al cool!

It's really none of your business why people decide to buy a house. I don't think you get to determine what are legitimate reasons to buy a house.
@@kaedatiger I disagree. Blindly hoping your house doesn't lose value is a bad idea. Buying a popular style home in a good location with the intent on only living there for a short amount of time can be a good investment.
There is no reason you can't make your home part of an investment strategy.
People can be so rude :(
Lol at pre-emptive response about Jun not talking. I have to do that all the time because people will be like "shut up and let your husband talk". I will give him so much time to speak but he prefers it if I talk because of course, not his native language. He also spends all his time at work talking, sometimes he wants to just chill.

There are many reasons why people choose to or not to have children, then theres people who want children but can’t or really struggle having them, miscarry, are infertile, you never know. Mind your own business.
Exactly my thoughts

@@koolaidman6251 I really appreciate your comment in support of Rachel and women in general
yeah and like not everyone wants or is fit to be one for example, ffs. it’s none of your business.
common sense train coming through:
- asking women/couples about their plans for children can easily be a very invasive thing to do. there are a bunch of reasons why this can be a sensitive topic and not everyone wants to talk about it in public.
I get asked a lot “When will you have children?” “Don’t you think it would legitimize your marriage if you had kids?”
I love the idea of having children but people are so pushy about it.
PREACH! Not everyone is ready or wants to have children. Sometimes people are better off without having kids.
I'm a hetero woman who never wanted kids. Even when I was a child, I had zero interest in playing with doll babies. I went straight to stuffed animals and Barbies. I love the way Rachel and Jun just didn't answer the question. It's their business, not ours.
