    If you finished watching the video, you might have noticed a particular something missing from the new revamped final verdict section. From this point on, my reviews will not contain numerical scores. It is from my experience that having those scores leads to one of two things: first, a greater importance placed on said scores over anything else that I might have actually said over the course of the video, and second, an unfair comparison between shows based purely on the numbers assigned to them. If you really want numerical scores, I'm quite sure that there are a slew of anime watchers on websites such as MAL, Hummingbird and AniList that can oblige you with some.

      Idk I just finished it and I can see myself watching it maybe one more time at most. It's a great anime, and it did indeed have an AMAZING ending compared to most animes I've seen, but I think this guy does have a point that this anime doesn't have some hidden meanings or anything like clannad, it's rather straightforward mostly but it had some memorable moments

      Sean Senpai I agree with GR. I don't see myself rewatching Toradora, albeit in small doses once in a while...MAYBE.
      Toradora overall is a good show, but for me shows with the most rewatch value are those with great, gut-busting comedy (Full Metal Panic F, Ouran HS Host Club) or with plenty of hidden details, amazing visuals and tiny, personal, memorable moments that BEGS u to revisit (Clannad, Hyouka).
      But maybe that's just my tastes kicking in: I rarely EVER find myself rewatching entire shows back to back, maybe I will sneak back for one episode or two of Ouran to have a laugh at my favourite moments, so such a condensed plot driven show like Toradora really does not offer much rewatch value for me after knowing everything that's going to unfold.
      And then theres the other problem: There's always more NEW and OLD undiscovered shows that require my viewing: search for Studio Bones because you loved FMAB and realised that they released Soul Eater practically next to the former, and so on and so forth, that happens to me a lot when I research big studios like KyoAni, PA Works and Bones.

    • @akabayashi7915
      @akabayashi7915 9 років тому +9

      When a show has zero rewatch value, that dosent necessarily means the show is bad. It's just that for toradora, rewatching all the characters grow when you already know what the out come is, is not very pleasant. I tries rewatching it. I couldnt. Becuz seein the characters from spuare one was jarring. It made me feel as if these characters werent the characters that i knew and loved.
      Or something like that :)

      Laurence Hammond she should have fight for Ryuji then. She was constantly keeping him in check, at range. She preserved that spot, instead of making her intentions clear...either you want someone or dont. Point is: you tell him that. That's what Ami wanted to teach them.
      FeelsGoodMan na dont be depressed by that. It had to be this wa because to destroy a relationship it doesnt need much, but to build one, to safe one, it needs work. Taiga and Ryuji knew that. Ryuji gave Taiga the OK, to go ahead, because he trusts her and will wait for her. So she decided to follow his example, making good with her parents so they can have both parent's support for the marriage. ^^

      The tsundere archtype is certainly older than Taiga. I wouldn't have even said she's the most prominent.
      If anything, it somehow gave way to the "modern" tsundere type.
      The Oreimo type.
      Classic tsundere should be growing over time. Or at least their impressions of the other characters grows.
      The modern tsundere like Kirino may show growth or kindness in every episode, but resets back to being a horrible person at the beginning of every episode.
      That's why Kirino is shit.
      The irony in this is that... Taiga isn't a modern tsundere even though she came around in an era where such tsundere were becoming common.
      Taiga is one of the last classic types among of the modern trend.

      Though, the first yandere character I ever saw was Kaede from Shuffle.
      This is ironic, because she was not supposed to be this. It was an anime only attribute.

      You're thinking of Shana from Shakugan no Shana. In Japan, where the anime is made after all, she is the original that made tsunderes explode in popularity. She's also voiced by Rie Kugumiya, and Taiga, Louise from Familiar of Zero, and Nagi from Hayate the Combat Butler are the "Holy Trinity of Shana Clones". In the US I guess it really comes down to which series you ended up watching first. But Shana would be the reason that Toradora and Taiga were made so credit where credit is due :)

    I didn't feel anything but disbelief when Ryu fell for Taiga, but when Yatsuko cried as her estranged parents told her that she did a great job raising her son as a single mom - That inexplicably hit me harder than anything else in the anime.

    • @catalystsylz4053
      @catalystsylz4053 2 роки тому +4

      It hit me deep too. I know why though. I always tell my mom how great she did raising me. I do that every chance I get. Her parents aren't around to say it, and my dad isn't here either. So she's way harder on herself for her mistakes than she should be. Every time I tell her, she just bursts into tears. She says that she doesn't deserve the praise I give her. So I give a her a big hug, and I always remind her of how wonderful she is. I don't care about the life I had to live as a kid. I care about how I became as a man. I couldn't have done that without her. I just wish she wouldn't beat herself up all the time. She's my mom, and I'll love her no matter what she thinks she did wrong.

    But Taiga isn't a tsundere. She just have a really short temper. Throughout the whole series Taiga has been really straight forward with her feeling. The only reason she does not express her love with Ryuji openly is because she knows Miniori loves Ryuji and Ryuji mutually loves Minori back.

      Aeroty She is a Tsundere, but she is unique. Taiga is normally shown as the most iconic tsundere since she kinda is. in a way she isn't, and I get where you are coming from; but the ending scene is a good example. SPOILER: In the end where Ryuji told taiga he loved her, she head butted him. Thats what's expected from a tsundere.

    • @aeroty6897
      @aeroty6897 7 років тому +23

      JackDoodle It is not, it doesn't fit the definition of a tsundere. If memory serves right, Taiga confessed to Ryuuji first, meaning is no purpose to hiding her feeling, especially during the end of the story. The action near the end wasn't Taiga being a tsundere, but because of her violent tendency and being flustered.

    The last time I watched this anime was when I was 13/14 years old and at the time it was just another shoujo anime. However, now that I'm 22 I have found a new admiration for the show. As a child of a single mother whose father left when I was 16 in some ways I understand Takasu wanting to help his mother but also Yasuko who only wanted to see Takasu succeed in life. In some ways I also understand Taiga and how her father only really cared about himself.
    This anime will forever be in my top 5 shoujo amines. If you haven't seen it already then you're really missing out!

      +Monkey D. Luffy Just rewatched it, like every year in december, and I agree completely. That's the only real disagreement with him. Rewatch value is pretty high, you always find something new, make new connections, see how better the story can get because everything from episode 1 makes 100% sense. And the ending at this point is absolutely perfect and completely character conform.
      At first time watching I was so sad andconfused why she left him, but after some rewatching you hear and see stuff, that leads up to this very moment and explains it perfectly. That she does it for him, because he convinces her that the parent's agreement is important to her, so they have to work hard to get it and time is unimportant, because they love each other and will wait for each other. But first things first. That's why she leaves without saying a word...enough words have already been said.
      I love this anime so much. x.X

      +Ikbob11 Not just feels, I flat out didn't care for this Anime a bit. After all the good press I saw about it, some from critics I agree with almost across the board, I was surprised by how differently I felt. At two junctures here Tristan refers to elements of this Anime as "generic". Funny as that's the exact word I used when summing up how I felt about the entire series. It's like nothing I saw was new, and just a collage of every other romance Anime I've seen already thrown together, and not well.
      3 episodes in I had no desire to watch it anymore, and stopped for awhile. I finished only based on assurances from several that it got better. I'll stop short of saying they lied because hey, different strokes and all that, but I didn't see it personally.
      I'd say "Stream It", then forget it.

  • @Khaleb_0
    @Khaleb_0 9 років тому +176

    Excuse me, I agree with you entirely except for re-watch value, I'm not saying you'll watch it 10 times and not get bored, but when you watch it for a second time, you can actually see the characters moves and feel different about them, the main example I have for this is Ami, at the first glance she's an outright BITCH, but when you see her with the eyes of a rewatch, you understand that she only wants ppl to see her as a human, not a super-model-ultra-sexy-godlike-SSJ-girl, that's why she reveals her true self to "the bunch" (main characters)... I could go on on every character but it'll take to long =/ this is just my opinion, feel free to discuss it with me =D

    • @RiruKrypto_
      @RiruKrypto_ 6 років тому +14

      Santy3071 I agree, Ami was the bread 🥖 and butter of the show in the last 5 episodes you can see how caring she was with Taiga and one of the characters along with Kitamura and Minori that got Ryuugi to confess to Taiga this show is something special but I wished there was more closure towards the other characters as well it ended on a good note for the main characters but I can’t help to think what happened to the others in the future.

      You basically hit the nail on the head about Taiga. When I watched this subbed on Crunchyroll, I just had to do a marathon of the show, with the other stuff put on the back burner.
      Plus, this was a series that did make me tear up on occasion (I'm a sucker for "pure" romance stuff), so when it came towards the end, it made me happy and made me think of a girl I care for.

It is really strong, I think Toradora shows that, and ends the way it has to be, it was beautiful, it is beautiful, thank you for answering me and share your thoughts with me :)

They were really just looking for a way to escape their circumstances so they could be together, even if it wasnt rational

      The sucky part about anime’s (especially how certain studios like the one behind toradora) is that you can’t tell the age of a character easily, so height of characters makes up a lot of judgement in age most of the time, this makes their kids scene very weird to me and obviously others because she is like 5 foot tall where as ryuuji is closer to 6 foot

I just watch again this past week, hence why im here, and i completely disagree with no rewatchability... I loved it even more the second time i watched it! I caught on to lot of stuff i missed, esp with the time jump from episode to episode. Like, the 2nd and 3rd episode must be a few weeks if not a month or two apart because Ryu has a key to Taiga's apartment. That must mean they had A LOT of trust, you know? How many girls will give their guy friend a key to their house only after only a couple days of knowing them? It's little things like that that makes this anime amazing. I look forward to watching again in a few months..... haha Great video btw!

    “Once you know the story, there is little left, re-watch value is zero”
    I really love this anime and I’ve watched it twice already
    First time: eng sub
    Second time: eng dub
    I definitely recommend watching both because you can find many clues in episodes leading to the end!
    There was an episode where taiga left her student handbook and ami and her friends picked it up and saw the picture of kitamura, but also said there was another picture... meaning she liked ryuuji even before the culture festival!
    I also got to understand the “dollhouse” analogy, how ryuuji was playing the dad to taiga with minori as the mom... how he shouldn’t have played that role because he’d hurt both of them
    But honestly, watching the anime again after that... won’t give much... yea I wanna see the progression of the characters more, but there definitely won’t be another season. This was in an high school romance environment, now they graduated there’s not much left. So all in all, I’m saying it’s sadly true 😔

      Marcus Badibanga it could of happened but if Ryuugi dated with Minori then Taiga will be alone or just be the third wheel of the relationship until they drift apart and since Minori is her best friend she would of had guilt so she sacrificed her love for Ryuugi and gave it to Taiga for her to be happy hope that clears it up I know Minori and Ryuugi would of been an awesome pair but she was being a good friend to Taiga and gave her the keys to Ryuugi’s heart.

    i watched this series when i was 12-13, in that time i would just focus on the romance and comedy, but when i re watched it again i can say that i understand a lot more things than i would do before. toradora does make a good job portraying that dramatic part of life where all seems to get harder to get away with. i got completely fond to the characters and story and general because it felt like i was living their moment and suddenly every character became humans who i can relate to. also, that ost called lost my pieces will always get me to tears whenever i listen to it. i honestly think that toradora will be one of my favorite animes for a life time.

    Just watched this show. It was the first romance anime I've seen and I don't know exactly why I like it so much. Like I've gotten obsessed with shows before and was sad after it ends, knowing that I won't get to experience watching it for the first time , but without more than a day in between I started watching it again, I guess I couldn't actually accept that it was over. I binged on this show faster than any other show ever. Is this the top romance anime has to offer? Or Am I just new to romance, and unaware of common tropes? Any similar shows you guys could recommend ?

    My favourite anime ever. I just recently finished watching Toradora! for my 6th time. 3 times subbed and 3 times dubbed. No matter how many times I watch it, it always feels new and refreshing and it doesn't feel boring.

    This was the first series I actually cried for literally 6 episodes straight. I messaged my friend by the end saying something about how I had no idea how on earth I was actually able to cry this much. Toradora was a romance done so well cause the ending had enough closure to be above satisfactory. If a second season comes out (or is out) I don't think I'd give it a watch simply out of fear of a threatening love triangle sprouting somehow and breaking the series for me. This was a series where by the end I smiled and still think fondly of every god damn day.

    I'm not a big fan of the tsundere character trope, but I really did like Taiga. Taiga was your typical tsundere, but the anime gave her a lot more. She's a stubborn and tough spirit who finds it hard to be honest with herself, especially to the end of the anime. Most tsundere girls are, but I feel like there's just so much more to Taiga, but I can't exactly explain it properly because it's been a while since I watched it. nyeh, shut up I like Taiga don't judge.

    I remember watching this anime back in 2022 and I was abit spectacle on it because I'm used to the action packed story driven anime like dbz and naruto, but toradora is one of those animes that I began to like as I watched more of it, the story was amazing and the characters evolving was pretty cool, there are alot of characters that you could relate to and it kinda makes me wish the show had more seasons.

      Yeah, Rie Kugimiya is the queen of tsundere lolis. I think she nails it the best in Zero no Tsukaima, though Toradora is a close second, imo.

    This was one of the first animes I watched and probably the first of this genre. I feel kind of bad cause I got so depressed over a series. It was something so new to me. I think I was emotional over it for a few days! I just want to say if you are feeling kind of relaxed and ready to be taken on a journey then you should watch this now. It's not especially hard to follow and you can probably get through it in a day if you have the time. I recommend watching this in one go for maximum impact.

      Its not like I didn't like Toradora, just not the biggest Taiga fan. Its probably cause loli characters don't do it for me. Give me Minorin or Ami any day. Man that Chiwa Saito voice on Senjougahara is so good, for me, that's the ultimate tsundere.

      The Maestro True, Hitagi is sort of a femme fatale tsundere. Instead of tantrums she just pours on the dry wit, Who was the prototype tsundere? Asuka?

    Just watched it, & its a great show. It would be dope if we got a sequel series with everyone older. With Ryuuji and Taiga having to deal with the ups and downs of their relationship (possibly marriage) now as adults with different obstacles being in their way, yet still managing to show that they will always love eachother, and remain together no matter what.

    I watched this show on a streaming service and some of the episodes audio were distorted and it was a bit annoying so I was constantly switching between the sub and dub and it was actually pretty enjoyable.
