Stumbling outside after a long night out in London’s West End, the seductive smell of food carts is enough to make anyone chuck all hygiene concerns out the window. Everyone has their suspicions about how trustworthy a hotdog cart might be and if it’s actually genuine horse meat or if those back alley cats maybe aren’t the only ones eating rats… but how much of this is just paranoia and should you be genuinely concerned?
Vince and his team have the job of making sure you don’t get any rat-dogs or other unexpected gifts from the hotdog vendors. To some, these lads might seem like the bad guys, but trust me, they’re on your side. If these Grime Fighters shut down your favourite hotdog cart, you don’t want to think of the consequences the following morning if they hadn’t…

In the United States we have roller grill at many gas stations. The grossest thing is the condiments. You don't know who's been digging in there or how filthy their hands were.

I never eat from dirty water dogs carts because they have to use the bathroom where they going and they are handling money food and no place to wash their hands no thanks I’m never that hungry

@noah lawrence ok I live in Pennsylvania my stuff pretty good inspectors don't drive around that late trying to bust carts but I live in a suburban area and work outside parking lot at a gentleman club peaple love my food but guess cannot trust every cart lol

They should face the courts for selling their shit, but it all falls back on the customer and if they're dumb enough to buy it.
This is why I eat from either shops or Burger Vans which have a Sink, Fridge and other stuff that makes them safe
That is disgusting i use to work carts and trailers years age we had everything vetted by health safety
and the best off hygiene thank good for thease inspector's

I had a hot dog cart here in the States to pay for my college tuition. My mother and I worked on it together. Ours was immaculate. You're right. I've never seen a cart that bad.

Oldschool - we never have these anymore. And in fairness these existed when London was last a good place to go in without some Somalian 11 yr old asking for your phone holding out a zombie knife. And I don't know a single person that ever got sick off eating these.

London mobile vending laws must be laxed, cuz none of the carts would make it to the street in America, in Florida you have to go through so much to even get a permit, but it's worth it though....

I personally wouldn't eat from those things, apart from the issue of storage and cleanliness I always think where do they go to the toilet? and where do they wash their hands? Just keep that in mind next time you're tempted to eat from such a cart/stall am sure your hunger will soon vanish.

By all means confiscate the carts, but offer them the chance to attend a food hygiene course in order to get them back. In the case of the unsafe ones, offer them a voucher or something towards new, safe equipment in exchange for completing food hygiene training. I don't think it's fair to put them completely out of business, the ones who are serious about it will attend the course and take the advice given.
