I went to Astoria, OR about 40 years ago. I had just moved to Chinook, WA which is across the bridge and a few miles to the left. I was looking for a job in Astoria and I went into a little diner for coffee. The owner and I talked and she ended up giving me a free breakfast, since I was not working. She was so nice! She wasn't hiring at the time unfortunately. I love Astoria. I'd love to visit again someday. I have a friend in Chinook, who is a fisherman, and I haven't seen him in years. It would make a great vacation to visit him and explore Astoria...this time with some money!
Girl, I can't even imagine what your eyes have seen in real life! So much beauty in just one short video! It must be truly amazing to see such things up close & real. I'm 65 years old & have barely been out of the state I was born in, Mo. Never seen a mountain, the ocean, a canyon, a glacier. And I have never seen anything in real life just like you seen in this episode! I hope you know how lucky & blessed you are. It's so great you share your adventures or some of us would never see all the wonders you see through your eyes. Thanks for sharing your world with the rest of us. ❤
Your comment really touches me Violet ❤️ When I was around 12 or so I remember my 2nd cousins coming down from Canada to visit and when we got to the beach they ran out and got silent and started crying. I remember being confused and curious as to why they were crying. They had never seen the ocean before. Now as an adult I almost always cry during at least one point of my beach trips because I do know how lucky I am. Not just to see the ocean but for this incredible opportunity to live and for the love of my family 🥰 I saw a documentary where someone was in a parking lot and saw a grasshopper and she said nature and the beauty of this earth is all around us. Even in a parking lot. We just have to pay attention. I hope wherever you are, that you can find that beauty around you 🥰❤️ Thank you for taking the time to comment and I am honored to get to share my life on here with you! 😘
@@leftcoastrevivals , Well lady the beauty you share with us, touches many I'm sure. How would some of us ever see what is out there if it wasn't for ppl. like you who share it all. It's almost as good as being there! Mo. is where I'm from we live on a tiny 10 acre goat farm that we got to buy back a small portion of a family farm that was sold when hubbies parents got older & to ill to take care of it. They had owned it for 40 years & my hubby & his dad farmed it, tilling the soil from sun up to sun down. Caring for God's land. Lots of blood sweat & tears. We had dreamed of living there since the day we where married on May 22nd 1978. 43 years & it took us way over 30 years to get here. They say never give up on your dreams. I have never really been on a vacation of any kind. But I have an imagination that takes me everywhere I ever want to go, before my feet ever hit the ground. I am a dreamer of the reclaim sort & can take junk other ppl disgaurd & make it into something beautiful & hubby has a great talent for truly making it all work out. We lost our home of 30 years in the year 2010, from a whole lot of bad incidents one after another. And had to start over in out later 50's we are now in our middle 60"s. Starting over at that age & having a shoe string budget is pretty hard. I thank God we started poor & had absolutely no choice but to become super resourceful of the things we did have access to. Reclaiming things many ppl didn't even give a thought to throwing it away. And we would in those days recycle it. Before any of that was cool. Lol This land we live on now had no access, hubby & his dad farmed it by bringing in there farm machinery, through the ditch. We had to make an entrance to even get here. Kinda a last frontier sorta thing. No one had lived here even before. Hubby has pulled 4 old mobile homes here with an old M, International that he has keep alive far beyond its years. It has a narrow front end & he welded a big truck blade & made the hydraulics attach to his old tractor & then welded up 2 steel forks to fit over them. He ran the forks through a pallet & added cement blocks & 2 100 # tractor weights for weight. And bungu straped them on.. Because when he would hook the old tractor to the mobile home to pull them the front end wouldn't stay on the ground. It has no red paint left on it, no power steering, no power brakes. It had these big chains on the tires, to help it grip in mud & get better traction. I call it the original four wheel drive. Lol. It had a thing in the front that is a metal piece that sticks out. I asked my husband one day what is that thing. He replied its where they used to crank it to start it. It is a model 1958. If you think that wasn't a site to see pulling the old mobile homes down the highway & bringing them here to our land. I doubt if you have ever seen anything like it either. Just a drop in the bucket to the things my eyes have seen. Living a way simple life. But in so many ways quite extrodonary & things some ppl. will never see with there own eyes as well. I share some of our crazy hard with little decent equipment & resources adventures on FB. With family & freinds. It truly was a remarkable site to see. Everyday as we put our lives back togather after the loss of a home we spent hrs. & years remodeling & reclaiming. The stories I could tell you are many of remarkable reclaim & things we have done throughout our 43 years togather. Adventures are many. I could write a book & fill it with amazing pictures of perserverence against odds that not just anyone could survive. Starting our life as reclaimers before it was ever a thing! And with a unlimited imagination. The simple life has many beautiful sites to see. And it is a hard life. One I would not trade & am grateful to God for. Especially in these times of uncertainty. But we all have beautiful sites to see in many different ways than yours. No less beautiful just different. And have to remind ourselves of that sometimes. Sharing them is a beautiful thing & I share mine with whom ever needs to see what I can see everday in my life, the grand simple life, some ppl. never will get to see with there own eyes. It's been a long journey to the land where we wanted to build a home all those years ago. But we made it & are remodeling those old mobile homes & let me tell you the budget is tighter than a rubber band on a new sling shot! And our experienced reclaim skills are essential to even begin. But somehow God must have knew, we where going to need ever single skill he gave us opportunity to learn along our journey in life. Our daughter & her family live here on our land We call OLD GLORY LAND. That's the best part that they are here with us & near by. After we lost our home of 30 years. We where separated for many years. Them being here is a huge part of the beauty & dream. The house I grew up in during the 60s had a bar in the basement that my dad built. It looked like the bars on Westerns, long and sleek with a large mirror behind it,and lots of cool glasses.I used to go down there and sneak maraschino cherries out of the vintage coiled fridge! 🍒Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video....Oregon rocks!
Each seaside view is as beautiful as the next. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my sister in law and family in Astoria. It is a treasured memory till this day. I remember the beautiful woods with enorme trees. Meadows with wild elk and deer taking in the sun. Eating wild blueberries off the bushes and yes, all the Goonies fun. I can see why you want to live there again. Thank you for these lovely videos and all you teach us. 💟
Hi Laura, my brother's and I loved the Goonies when we were kids, this was so much fun. I love all your videos but this was definitely one of my favorites. I really like seeing all the lovely sights.
My mom has one of those penguin ice buckets (I think it was a wedding present for my parents in 1958) . We always used it to keep pancakes warm until the whole batch was done. Every time you show one, I want a pancake!
YES! I 100% thought/talked about that multiple times that day. I climbed the Astoria column a few years ago with my sisters and when I got to the top I felt like I was seeing it for the first time through their eyes ☺️ I’m a total romantic like that. Pretty incredible he history of this town ❤️
OMGosh! That was some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen in a long time! Love love LOVE your table and bench and gorgeous bag! So excited to see more!! Thank you for sharing Laura.❤️
You are so blessed Laura! Living in the PNW has everything….shhhh! I left in 1986 & have wanted to move back everyday since. Glad you are sharing all your adventures; I’m kinda there! ♥️
1. Those earrings you’re wearing!!!! 2. Because of this video, horseback riding on the beach is now on my bucket list 3. Your tour on the Oregon coast pushed Oregon closer to the top of my travel wish list! Thank you for taking us along.
Jennifer, My husband watched this one with me and we have a van that he decked out for trips like this and Oregon is definitely on our list too! I will be thrifting hopefully full-time, depending on gas prices, but I don't have to travel so far as that. I'm located near St. Louis, Mo. so I can hit lots of places closer. I hope you get to ride a horse on the beach in Oregon! Cheers!
The silver raised semi precious half moon ring with engraving on the side is from the Tuareg ethic people who inhabit the Sahara. They cover different regions in North Africa. You can Google all about them. I think the stone might be carnelian. Carnelian helps you feel grounded, enhances creativity and the flow of creative ideas and so much more. I have a few pieces of Tuareg jewellery myself. I was born in South Africa although I'm now living in Germany. Cool find.
Laura!! I went thrifting on my lunch break today and found a Yugoslavian wedding cup for $3 in PERFECT condition. I bought it not knowing what it was but that it looked special. Then I came home and watched your video and you found on too!!! I’m excited that it’s actually something special.
I think you gave me a new bucket list item!!! Astoria looks AMAZING!!! And the other towns look unreal too! I traveled the coastal highway in California and also Maine! Both of those trips were gorgeous! Looks like I need to do Oregon too! I've also done some of Route 66.That's a fun road trip too. Love your videos and style!
Thank you Laura. My sister is home from New Zealand after about 15 years and we are going antiquing on the Oregon coast soon thank you again. Sisters are awesome 🥰
The vintage tapestry bag is gorgeous! I definitely need to check if there are any goodwill superstores near me. Thank you for sharing all of these fun places in Oregon, I definitely need to visit one day. ❤😊
Laura , You are #1. I’m not into MCM yet you have away about yourself that is very calming. And your blue eyes are mesmerizing! Just love your channel.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us Laura, fantastic video and now Oregon is on my bucket list of places I would love to visit one day 🤞🏼🇬🇧♥️
My husband and I camped down the 101 last year and the Oregon coast stole my heart! I would move there in a heartbeat. It’s my favorite place I’ve visited so far.
Yeah, I've been checking all week to see if you put out the video yet. You do such a good job with editing. I never feel like I missed out on seeing something.
It's been a few years since I've been to Astoria. But I remember the Flavel House. I wrongly assumed it would be boring. It was extremely interesting. Very well curated. Had no idea that's where Mikey's dad worked. lol I truly adore Astoria. I edit to add- if you enjoy historical homes, Craigdarroch Castle in Victora B.C. is another amazing place.
Love ❤ all your videos , love your enthusiasm😄 and personality 🥰. Keep those videos coming. I'm also waiting for a trick on restoring wood 🪵 you had mentioned. ❤❤❤
OMG- finally! I was suffering content withdrawl and here you are! Love your videos and adventures! So excited to see more fantastic finds and fun content!
Laura the tourist board needs to employ you. This makes me want to take a plane all the way from Trinidad and Tobago for a visit! These vintage shops are one of a kind.
Yes! So glad there’ll more road trip eps. Those beaches are spectacular. How sweet that you’re part of that couple’s special day! Fantastic finds as always and that blue ruffled top really brings out your eyes😀
Heey what a great start to the day as its raining here, but just watched Laura's video an it made a miserable day bright, loved that beaded mirror gorgoues an some other stuff too, its always lovely comming along with you an Jesse, you guys have such a greeeat time together, it's wonderful, Enjoy the weekend guys, 🤩❤️👍🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐯🐯🐯🐯
My mother-in-law had the penguin ice bucket. I loved it. When she passed I had hoped to get it but it "disappeared". Maybe I'll run across it thrifting one day.
There is shop in Myrtle Beach that had a dozen of them! She must really like them because they were all over $20. I usually find at least one a month at Goodwill.
Oregon looks like an amazing part of the US to visit one day. I’m endlessly astounded at what you find thrifting. Australia’s thrift stores have so much junk, finding treasure is hard, but I guess that’s the fun!
Dear Laura, This type of video is my favourite as I can travel with you to the most wonderful places. You are a great travel guide and, because I live in Europe, I can see through your eyes, all the magical places on the west coast. Of course the treasures you find along the way are also of interest and your keen sense of style are particularly valuable. It will be great to see you in your new home displaying some of your newly found goodies. Looking forward to the next episode. xx
I have a penguin ice bucket that was my parents and it is the best at keeping ice good for a long while. I love it. I love the Oregon Coast. Many years ago I traveled the whole coast. You found some great items.
I watch when you got the call that you got your new home. Our home was built by my father in law in 1957. Our living room has the ceiling just like your. We love our home. It has a creek, waterfall, I’m so grateful every time I walk our property. Good luck on your new home.
Thank you so much for sharing Laura. It s so beautyfull outthere! Amasing finds! Camping in style. I m in!!!! That rugg. Please make a video when Jessy created those hanging lamps. I love those! I was stunned by those kimono s. Amasing shops! I just rewatched The Goonies a fiew weeks aggo
Thank You Laura for the tour of Astoria and other towns in Oregon. I enjoyed watching you find some wonderful Treasures! WE have the same taste in Jewelry. We have planned on traveling out to the West Coast from our home in Florida for awhile and you may have sped-up the process and certainly gave us some places to visit. BTW "GOONIES" was a favorite of my kids when they were little. I enjoyed watching it with them. I'm going to watch it again and tell my teenage Grandchildren to check it out too! Never gave it much thought that it was filmed in an actual town on location! Thanks so much for sharing! Appreciate all the time and care you put into your videos! :) VeroYorkie
Hi Laura, thanks for the Wonderful memories!!!! I lived in Portland from 1989 till 2005, all the places that you shown I have also been to. Moved back home to the East Coast in 2005, great childhood memories here, but also bittersweet memories of the Pacific Northwest. Many of your adventures in the area, I have been to also. Still have many of my treasures during this time of treasure hunting. Miss it very much.

How awesome!! I collect them to use in my bathroom to hold things like a-tips and Bobby pins 😄 They’re so beautiful! Congrats on your find!
Hi 🙋♂️ Mary, your comments so good where are you from?
This was flat-out freakin' amazing and so worth waiting for! Let the Penguin Ice Bucket Tally commence! We're at 2 and counting! :)
Just wait….. 😂 🐧
Gracias por llevarnos en tu viaje!!! Amo la película The Gonnies porque me recuerda mi adolescencia y a mis amigas del colegio.
Great scenery & shops. Have safe travels & great discoveries. 👍
That unique reddish stone ring is Tuareg/Twareg or Tuareg inspired. The Tuareg people are Berber and live in parts of Africa.
The "standing up" ring reminds me the Touareg style of jewelry! :) Maybe it is one of these.
Thank you Laura. My sister is home from New Zealand after about 15 years and we are going antiquing on the Oregon coast soon thank you again. Sisters are awesome 🥰
What a treat..loved this super long video...That bohemian table and the large traveling bag was my favorites...especially that table .
What a wonderful tour. You are making me homesick for my Oregon! I lived in the Salem area for almost 20 years as a child.
You are so CUTE!! I love how you say ASSTORIA.....made me chuckle. Thanks for taking us along. It's a pleasant way to enjoy the evening.
Thrifting and travel! You combined my two favorite things. Now I’m inspired to come to the Oregon coast. See you soon! Amy from MN❤️

Best video I’ve watched in a very long time. Laura you outdid yourself! I can’t wait for what comes next! xx
Laura , You are #1. I’m not into MCM yet you have away about yourself that is very calming. And your blue eyes are mesmerizing! Just love your channel.
Your videos are so much fun, I feel like I'm there with you. Thrifting is one of my favorite things to do.

Hi 🙋♂️ Dear,. your comments so good where are you from?
It's been a few years since I've been to Astoria. But I remember the Flavel House. I wrongly assumed it would be boring. It was extremely interesting. Very well curated. Had no idea that's where Mikey's dad worked. lol I truly adore Astoria. I edit to add- if you enjoy historical homes, Craigdarroch Castle in Victora B.C. is another amazing place.
I love the Oregon coast and I love Victoria, BC!
Love ❤ all your videos , love your enthusiasm😄 and personality 🥰. Keep those videos coming. I'm also waiting for a trick on restoring wood 🪵 you had mentioned. ❤❤❤

Laura the tourist board needs to employ you. This makes me want to take a plane all the way from Trinidad and Tobago for a visit! These vintage shops are one of a kind.
Beautiful beaches! I really love the table and bench you found on this trip. A really enjoyable vlog Laura, thank you🙏🏻❤️
I could never have enough of The Goonies!!!
Yes! So glad there’ll more road trip eps. Those beaches are spectacular. How sweet that you’re part of that couple’s special day! Fantastic finds as always and that blue ruffled top really brings out your eyes😀
I really appreciate how you are featuring the towns you visit. I never knew that Oregon was such a beautiful state. I would love to visit some day.
Thanks for taking us along with you .... great finds. My husband and I toured the Oregon coast in 2005 .. bringing back a lot of memories.

Girl, I will take you to the best spots if you come visit! 🥰❤️
I feel like I need to plan a trip to Oregon. I love water and those beaches were simply breathtaking. 💙 Not to mention the thrifting!
You won’t regret it! So many beautiful places to visit here 😄
My mother-in-law had the penguin ice bucket. I loved it. When she passed I had hoped to get it but it "disappeared". Maybe I'll run across it thrifting one day.
So did mine and I still have it! Instead of ice though, my Mom used it to put her homemade spaghetti sauce in 😊!
There is shop in Myrtle Beach that had a dozen of them! She must really like them because they were all over $20. I usually find at least one a month at Goodwill.
I’ve lived in Oregon for thirty years and the beaches are the best !
Hi 🙋♂️ Jeanna, your comments so good where are you from?
Great video. The Flavel home is beautiful. Lovely plaid the horses.
Oregon looks like an amazing part of the US to visit one day. I’m endlessly astounded at what you find thrifting. Australia’s thrift stores have so much junk, finding treasure is hard, but I guess that’s the fun!
This was a great video! I love the table and bench and I can't wait to see all you do with your house!
Looking forward to the next episode. xx
LAURA I LOVE THIS VIEDO SO MUCH THANKS FOR SHARING THE SILVER JEWELRY IS SO BEAUTIFUL 🥰❤🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝

Wheeler, Oregon is my home town!!! Thank you for including it.😊😊😊
How BEAUTIFUL! I have ALWAYS wanted to visit the west coastal areas of Oregon and Washington.
Sounds like you have beautiful home!! ❤️❤️

Hi Laura. I've missed you. Indeed Oregon coast is beautiful. I love your earrings. Thanks
I’m so happy to read your comment and see that it brought back good memories ☺️❤️
