Thanks for featuring me in this one. I'm always happy to see more people interested in the color pie
Thanks for coming on and giving some insight into the Magic color system!
I'm a long time magic player and I watch both your channels, it's great to see you collaborate!
I'm a solid Izzet(Red 28% /Blue 26%) with some Green(19%), so Temur. I expect most people in this community to be blue aligned.
White:20,4% Blue:22,8% Black:27,4% Red:13,1% Green 16,3% esper
Thank you for this interesting prespective
I’ve never heard of using the MTG color system for personality. Pretty neat. I would classify most strongly as Simic - blue/green. On the website, it gives the example of genetic engineering, which is funny because that is what was interested in at an early age and studied in college. I am now doing scientific illustration. The internal opposition between a desire to respect nature but gain a sense of control/understanding of it is real, lol. I can see how this 5-fold system of personality archetypes could be useful and expansive. Thanks for the video Chris!
The way I see things via MBTI:
White: Si, 2nd Fe (SFJs)
Blue: Ti, 2nd Si (Control) OR Ni depending on your deck prob.
Red: Se, 2nd Ti (Classic STP, eh?)
Black: Fi, 2nd Ne
Green: Se, 2nd Fe
I see the spells and 'vibe" of the color being that 2nd tier, whereas the more direct effect on the game is the first function represented. Anyway, cool video! This 5-sided system seems, to me, to work SO much better than a black/white 2-sided system.
This is taking geekiness to the next level and I love it. You should check out Anderson Todd talking about correspondences, divination, roleplay and “narrative alchemy”
It took me a while to realize that you chose the card examples based on card name and art. I was primarily paying attention to the rules text and thought that those are strange choices for representing the essence of the colors especially to an audience who might not yet be familiar with (the game mechanics of) MTG.
Thank for the discovery I didn't know this. Mainly Blue for me, and the others colors are balanced.
| White: 18.9% | Blue: 30.2% | Black: 14.6% | Red: 15.4% | Green: 21.0% |
I was thinking Blue & Black for INTJ.
Just took the test and got 38.1% for blue, 21.2% for black, Red for 15.7%, Green 13.7% and White 11.3%. Makes sense for me to be very blue oriented where I'm always seeking improvement and looking to the future personally with a very independent mindset hence the black.
Quiz results:
Blue 28.9%, black 23.9%, green 20.3%, white 16.2% and red 10.7%
INFJ here, I took the test and its actually right! love Blue and Green in MTG (Simic), and I can splash Black or White sometimes. My fav combinations are Simic and Dimir, followed by Bant and Esper.
Plus, I do like breaking the color pie and having unique Commanders for my decks.
I got Naya. Red, Green, and White, in that order. I'm happy with that. :)
Not the first time I took this exact same test. And I got the same answer. Sultai with 30% black, 23% blue, and 20% green.
Thanks for an interesting video and for linking to the quiz. I scored Bant: 26% Blue, 24% Green, and 21% White. Bant suits me well!
Excellent video! My slice of the color pie is largely Jeskai, with a focus on blue.
To me the quizz depicts the kind of role you want to have as a player, wether than your personnality, I won't use it as base for self knowledge. I went through the words used and most of the words have a positive value, and most of the negative words are associated with black, which contradicts the idea of each color having a continuum of qualities and defaults. It is fun to do though
| White: 24.1% | Blue: 21.9% | Black: 11.0% | Red: 18.8% | Green: 24.3% |
I've always figured I was Bant so it is interesting to see those result line up with what I thought. Amusing that black is so low when my favorite decks to play are GBx but that's the different between fiction and non-fiction in action.
Thank you for posting. This is the information I have been searching for. I have been struggling with the white and black dichotomy for almost a year. What I should want vs what I do want. I tested as an esper 25% blue and almost equally black and white (20%). I really need to embrace the black more since I was taught it was bad and I should be more white.
BTW you just described the difference between western and eastern spirituality/morality. West LITERALLY demonizes the 'black' whereas eastern philosophies see it as a needed balance. IMO, at least.
Yes, my version of horoscope
My quiz results are: Blue: 30.1%, Black 21.2%, Red: 18.7%, Green: 16.7% and White: 13.4%.
Overall, thematically it fits me. I am a very curious person who seeks truth and purpose. Very ambitious and have a laser-focus when it comes to projects or goals that i have a personal interest in. And when it comes to achieving these goals, I’ve been described as being like an ‘icebreaker’.
In the actual game, I prefer to play a few different deck archetypes. Black-Green I find pretty enjoyable, my favourite is my Blex Commander Deck, where you create pest tokens and sacrifice them in order to cast powerful spells, gain life and pull off combos. second favourite deck archetype is mono red aggro, as I also enjoy the aggressive play style.
Interesting stuff.
I started with mtg during 'shadows over inistrad'. Love the game, i dont have favorite color bcs every color are nice.
Arts on cards are beautifull.
I dont have time actually to play, im busy with baldurs gate 3 in free time.
I hope they will do a game without limiting to standard, mtg arena is decent but sometimes all i want is to play with people i know, and recreate decks we have.
Nice video, art is how i started 'digging myself' i dont know how to say this, lol :)
I don't like quizes, but I'd say I'm mainly Blue. Maybe with some Green and White, or som Black.
I got Grixis 😃
Mainly Blue (27.1%), Red (23.7%) and Green (22.1%) for me, so Temur. It actually fits me quite well, Black would be the colour I admire and respect but don't have a lot of in myself (I scored 14.7%), whereas I don't relate to White at all (12.3%). I'm definitely going to check out DiceTry's videos on the subject.
I took the quiz and got Blue 28.3%, White 27.4% and Green 21.7% with Black and Red both being a little over 11%. It's an interesting quiz that I can see fits my mindset to some degree. I am very interested in tech, science and innovation. Blue reflects how my college degrees and career choices have been in the natural sciences and computer technology fields. When I study a new, or new to me, technology though, I do judge it based on how it might affect society and nature in the future, so it is fitting that my percentages are also high in White and Green.
My first college degree was in Natural Resources Management which studies how we can conserve quality or health of air, water, soil and ecosystems while still meeting the needs and goals of individuals and society. My major was in Range Science which focuses specifically on the management and conservation grasslands, savannahs, tundra and deserts - basically anywhere that the plant community is dominated by grasses and grasslike plants. So far, I've had the opportunity to live in and study grasslands, savannahs and deserts first-hand. Maybe someday, I'll live in a tundra as well.
I've applied these degrees to USDA conservation program management, studies at university field research centers and currently to landscape design and management in desert and urban settings. I have certifications in computer hardware and networking as well which come in handy when using some of the high-tech gadgets available now for studying natural phenomena. The studies I have gotten the most satisfaction from are ones in which the hypothesis being studied had potential for helping to meet the goals of the people who manage livestock ranches, wildlife habitat areas and the land surrounding their homes or businesses.
I can see why I didn't get high percentages in Red or Black because I'm not an impulsive, action-oriented person and I place the needs of others above my own needs most of the time.
Very interesting quiz. I'm glad that you mentioned it. I've played Magic the Gathering a little. Since it is primarily a two-person competitive game, it doesn't appeal to me as much as solitary or cooperative games do. I do enjoy the MTG board game Arena of the Planeswalkers a bit more than the game that it is based upon. I like having the miniatures and battle map with terrain better than only shuffling cards around. It's also fun in that board game to play it with teammates against an A.I. of sorts that's run by the person whose turn is next according to a set of rules that say what the enemy will do in different situations.
My favorite color combination is wubrg, the order I like the individual colors the most tho would be gwubr
Edit: on the quiz I got White: 20.8% | Blue: 19.5% | Black:
19.3% | Red: 18.3% | Green: 22.1%
It has been a while since I took the color test. However, I remember I was mainly blue followed by white and red. Finally green followed by black.
As a main jeskai I tend to play mono red because I have found the complexity on simplicity. Mono red aggro is easy to play but to win with it is always a bit hard and requires self control and planning. Ironic, I know. Red is extremely limited in what it can do and thus planning ahead and playing mind games with your opponent sometimes is the most important thing you need to get those last 3 points of damage.
Other than mini red I enjoy durdly decks that have high synergy without being an outright game winning combo. Rock seasons past, aristocrats, soul sisters, Norin sisters, and so on.
My Quiz results: White 36.2%, Green 22.0%, Blue 16.8%, Red 13.9%, Black 11.0%.
Ti - Blue
Te - Black or White, depending on context
Fi - Mono Red or Red and White
Fe - White and Green
Ni - Mono Blue or Blue and Black
Ne - Mono Blue or Blue and Red
Si - White?
Se - Red
Usually if you have blue and black and need to differentiate each by a single character identifier, black is K. ;)
Im red, green and blue
Red because I do my best and worst work controlled by my emotions and can do thing just because I want to do it
Green because I love animals
Blue because I like learning and studies biologi
Largest color for me is blue (1/3 of the pie)
White-Green Deck Users: So you think that you can troll me into oblivion?
Me: haha Nicol bolas Go Brrrrrrrrr
Chris- do you think there’s much correlation between people’s pie results and the colors they tend to play as? I’m an ESTP and I tend to play blue/red or blue/white. Almost never black or green.
I took the quiz and it was blue/red followed by white, green, and then black
Great question, maybe!
My favorite colors to play are actually red/white because it's filled with warriors and weapons.
My favorite looking cards are usually white for similar reasons.
Blue is actually my least favorite color to play because it's so passive and reactive.
I think there can be some correlation but it's really just down to the individual.
@@AsuraPsych I always end up with a small hand if I play white/red. Whoops! Impulsivity has its downsides. 😆 Blue keeps me in check. Red is almost too tempting for me.
I know MBTI isn’t everything, but it is funny how it can correlate
@@sirbradfordofhousejones I am thinking doing a followup vid correlating this to big 5 and MBTI so keep an eye out!
@@AsuraPsych hmmmm… I’ll try guessing! Green conscientiousness, black neuroticism, white agreeableness, red extroversion, blue openmindedness? Green/white could be switched, possibly. 🧐 🤔
I am a bant myself, I would say I am a white based, with lots of green and blue helping me out. I respect red and black but they just aren't me mostly.
