    In this part of homemade ATV tracks build I'm turning sprocket shafts and welding them to the connecting flanges, cutting a lot of material with death-wheel and welding the pieces together to subframes for attaching idler/bogey wheels. #atv #snow #tracks #atvtracks #snowtracks #DIY #homemade #DonnDIY #eestiyoutuber

    I wish I had half the knowledge and skills as you do. Pretty amazing how you can make some of these things from a solid piece of metal.

      Skills will develop during fabrication. Basic knowledge is needed though but the rest will come - If you build it they will come! :D

    Looking nice and I like the little teaser you did at the end. Keep the cool vids coming.

      Sic Boy That part in the end was not meant for teasing although it looked like it... I placed the sprocket on top of the subframe and idler wheels just to see how it looks. I'm getting a feeling that the pixels in the PC-s monitor are taller in vertical direction and the real thing compared to the computer model will look a bit longer in horizontal direction. I don't know why it bothers me. :)

    Good video I like watching it a lot. I never got into 4wheeling until I was older. We form a group of ATVers to build a new trail system. Without the internet we couldn’t have this far. Have awesome day :-)

    Some interesting lathe work going on there, I like the way you drilled the hole through the long flat steel..

    Tere!
    Thanks for sharing all this!
    You really inspire me blow dust from my own engineering hat :)
    Nothing to share yet, but....
    PS: I'm a bit jealous about tools, you have (turning machine and drill press ;) )

      It's good to hear that you are inspired by my videos. It would be nice to see your project. So if you eventually do have something to share I'm all ears and eyes. ;) Don't worry about the tools. Tools and equipment only make the building process faster. First projects I made I used MMA/stick welder and welded outdoors even when it snowed.

    Hi, thank you for your work.
    A little question - what brand of steel you using?
    I'm choosing between "ст20" and "09г2с" and "10ХСНД" (ex-soviet standards) for my 1 ton(full load) mower.
    Thank you.

      Eugen Mishko Hey. For the sprockets they used s355 but I have no idea what brand the rectangular tube is.

    when will the next part?=)
    I have a car, it weighs 650 kg and front-wheel drive, what thickness of metal I use better?? I want to make tracks, for the project as you've done Honda TRX500. What can you advise?
    Sorry if you do not understand, this is Google translation =)

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  10 років тому

      Ruslan Suleimanov The next part will be uploaded when I get enough material for it. I'm not quite sure what material to use. If I was going to build tracks for a 650 kg car I'd first go with rectangular tube with wall thickness of 5 mm. It would be just for trial & error. There's no such thing as "oversizing" when trying things for the first time. ;)

    • @suleimann1
      @suleimann1 10 років тому

      Thank you for your answer. I still think what and how do hope to build tracks will not stop only at this stage;)
