    Holy mother of god.....a 21 and a 1/2 minute video doesn't due justice to how much work this must've taken.

      Some might argue with you on that but I think the same as you do. I did a lot more work than only these 21 minutes worth and that is what I want to share with everyone and especially with those who think about making their own tracks.

    Not sure which I'm liking more... the project, the way you work, watching how your mind works on "fabricating" a jig to make something work. I hope you don't burn yourself out. I've seen many young and older people with ingenious minds burn themselves out. I like the fact you're commenting more in your videos as well. This build is coming along quite nicely. Looking forward to seeing this all up and running. Cheers :)

    Love the design. Most DIY tankers go all-metal for the tracks and they are difficult to make work reliably. Also the wear rate makes all-metal kind of unfeasable. This is genious!

    Yeah, that was amazing. Tracks look so uniform. I still don't fully understand how they will stay straight but guess that will be more apparent in a later video. Like many others said I also thought the jigs were very cool.

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  4 роки тому +1

      You mean how will they not lean on the sides and drop off? The tracks will be held on with tension so the tracks are stretched on, thus they'll be straight.

    A tip for doing productions type work like cutting the guides and angle for the track pads. When cutting, if your saw is able to handle thicker material, cut the main piece into half or quarters and cut 4 at a time. It will make the job of cutting much more efficient than just doing one at a time.

    I would say using some 1in (25.4mm) strap to make the "washers" and have it the length of one side (so its just one wide washer with the 2 whole in it) would work a treat, but my god drilling the holes would bout drive a man crazy lol. Nice work good sir.

    Отличная подготовка к каждому этапу сборки, все сделано очень классно, как на мелко-серийном производстве!!! Уважение от инженера! Смущает отсутствие натяжителя гусеницы, при проколе крайнего колеса гусеница обязательно слезет. Также отсутствие подвески как таковой, скажется на комфорте езды и жизненном цикле трансмиссии, в остальном снимаю шляпу перед вашим мастерством.

    As someone who works on and operates vehicles with similar track systems, we use backer plates instead of washers on the back of our cleats, all the bolts for each belt go through the same piece of steel and we thread them into the cleat so no nuts needed, less parts to rattle lose and cause a problem, I don't envy the job of making new tracks from scratch though, this paoff off season I had to replace 25 cleats on a single track for one of our machines at 15 bolts per cleat...took half a day just to get them off, 3 days to assemble parts onto the replacements and get them installed

    Looking good, I will give you a Tip on cutting rubber belting I have cut Miles of it. Add about a teaspoon of dish soap to a spray bottle and fill with water and then spray the solution onto your cut line you will not believe how much easier it will cut.
    Thay can be expensive but Google Conveyer belt or elevator fasteners these will have a much larger head or a plate so they won't pull through the rubber also it may be much easier to join the ends hope this may help.

    I bought a Hoot with plastic tracks, i see escargo has paddles on the sides of theirs to act as alignment keepers and paddles for the water propulsion. I do not want to increase the width thinking of making them to bolt through the rubber, bolting the traction cleat, rubber, and paddle on with same bolts. Thank you for sharing your videos
