    The ESCs are LiPo compatible but DO NOT have a built-in LiPo low-voltage cut-off. I run mine on 2s and use a LiPo alarm plugged into the battery balance port (from Amazon) to detect low-voltage. It drives way better and way longer on LiPo than on the included NiMH. I did also gear down with the smallest pinions I could install (can’t remember the size) otherwise the vehicle was just too fast to be maneuverable the way I want to use it. Glad you were able to get one. They have been very hard to find. And all the accessories have been back ordered for almost a year. Cheers.

      Those buggers over at Kyosho Should Have Said That Somewhere in the Manual 🤷 I'm kinda pissed off at them for that,🤔 F-ing Buggers! 🤷 Shaking my head about it currently,🤔
      I might have to take down the video over that little bit of nonsense 🙄😕 Those Guys over at Kyosho are A-holes! Yep! I'm gonna have to pull that video, Which sucks because I already deleted the original video, So it's going to be a Total Loss thanks to Kyosho's Lack of Critical Information.🤔🥺
      Hmm? 🤔 I'm thinking that I might do a totally new unboxing video on it, But this time I'm not going to be as friendly towards Kyosho.
      I've got a few complaints that I found on the machine as well, like Every Single Screw on it was loose, and How the electronics were just jammed into the receiver box with no Rhyme or Reason, yet the manual shows the ESC's and Receiver, being cleanly installed, with a proper location for each item, then there's the motor for the driver side track "motor being located on the opposite side of the vehicle" nevertheless.. the motor is Squealing! And we haven't even had it out for it's First run yet,🤔😕 And of course there's the whole No Low Voltage cut off factor that they don't warn anyone about.🙄🤷 I think that lack of info is just Crazy 🙄
      In my own defense concerning what I had said in the video about Lipo usage on the Trail King;
      I was only quoting the Kyosho Trail King Manual,😕 which is why I put a 8 second still image in the video, showing exactly what the manual says concerning Lipo batteries,🤔 That way I wouldn't be Directly Liable, for Kyosho's mistakes,😕
      But after hearing what you had to say about the ESC's not having a low voltage cut off, I'm starting to feel like I'm walking on thin ice with this video.🤔😕
      Argggg 🙄 I'm gonna have to redo that video, there's no other way around it.🤔
      Kyosho needs to Step up to the time's, and make these trucks completely Lipo Compatible.😕
      I Sincerely Can't Thank You Enough for That Awesome Head's up my friend, 😊👍
      And many more thanks for checking out the video too, without that I might be in some serious crap concerning Kyosho's mistakes on paper.😕
      Much Appreciated Brother
      😊👍100%
      P.S. this video will expire shortly, along with all comments and replies.

      Your welcome. I know it’s a pain about the ESCs, but the LiPo alarms I found on Amazon were cheap (like a three or six pack for $15 Canadian) so it wasn’t that big of a deal for me. I hear you on the receiver box rats nest too. That bugs me also. In the chassis the wiring looks clean, and then you open the receiver box and boom…rats nest of wires. I recently added my own plough and cleaned up the wires when I put everything back in. Other than that it’s been a good vehicle for me.
      I’d keep the video up. It is a good unboxing and with the new title it’s clear that there is a caveat with LiPo usage (that, yes, Kyosho is not very clear about).

      I definitely appreciate your info my Canadian Brother 😊👍 100%
      Lipo Alarm; we recently ordered a few of them thanks to your information.
      😄👍
      Unboxing video;
      First off, ...I can't thank you enough for your Awesome Compliments towards the video.😊🙏 👉👉🏆👈👈
      As for the video itself;
      I was in a panic of thought, trying to figure out what I could do to to Cover my rear end,save the video, and divorce myself from the Kyosho's lack of info at the same time,🤔😕 my first thoughts were to redo the video, But since I deleted the original video from my phone's memory, and cut the Trail King's box into pieces, that was going to be a tuff video to accomplish,🤔 not that it couldn't be done of course 🙄 I would have just refilmed it with a different title, such as (Kyosho Trail King Unbiased Opinion Unboxing)
      Which would have been a little bit more work, but it was still doable,🤔 And I figured that in the meantime... I would change the title of the original video a little bit, Just to cover my backside until I had the revised version ready to go,
      😕 And then after doing that, ...I kinda thought to myself,🤔 that between everything that I showed in the manual, combined with Kyosho's insignificant lipo discouragement, and coupled with the the new video title,🤔 (Which is a Disclaimer in itself) That it just might be enough to save the original video from deletion.😄👍
      Side note; My brother and I took the snowcats out last night for the Trail King's First run,😄 We ran the T.K. on its included 2200mah 7.2v nimh battery, And to my Shock and Amazement, the T.K. actually ran for a good 39 minutes before it started slowing down,😕
      I was pretty shocked about that, I figured that he would get about 20 minutes out of it at the most,🤔 but nope!
      It ran for quite a while 😄👍
      And it was Cold too 🥶 Like Stupid Cold 🥶🥶🥶🥶 right around 1° degree Fahrenheit, which is like negative -17° Celsius or something,😕 Darn Cold!
      And even colder down in the valley where I have my RC Adventure Park, my God it must have been like -10 Fahrenheit on the adventure course,🥶 brrrrrrr
      Anyways... The Trail King ran like a champion on its included 2200mah nimh battery,😄👍 I was surprised to say the least.
      We ended up going out twice yesterday, once around 4:45pm and the second time was around 1:00am, The 1am run was the coldest, Anyways.. after the 1am run, we had a Tragedy, 😕😞😫😩😭
      We always blow off the RC's after each run with a Air Compressor, after I got done cleaning off my Blizzard Fr AKA "Samson" I set Samson up on the workbench in my garage, which is like Four ft off the ground, 🙄 and you can probably guess what happened next,😕 I reached down to pick up my Blizzards transmitter, "Facing away from the blizzard"and accidentally bumped the left stick on the radio 😩 all I heard was a brief zip.. and then a small pause... and then the sound of plastic shattering 😭
      Rip Samson! 😕 The Blizzard jumped off the work bench and the landing is a question mark ? The end result was a broken rear Boogie wheel support on the driver's side, plastic part "BL6" (which is the track slack adjuster) And a Shattered Samson body, The body broke in half across the bed of the truck just behind the rear wheel wells,🤔😩 it's Destroyed! No more Samson 🥺
      It was so darn cold outside and inside of our uninsulated pole barn, that the plastic didn't have a chance! It literally Shattered on impact.😕
      Anyways... Accident's happen, 🙄 the price we pay for winter time fun 😂
      Replacement parts have already been ordered for the Blizzard Fr, which wasn't very easy to find,🤔 I ended up going through a place in California called "Kyoshoamerica" and I found them on eBay 😄👍
      It was like $4.00 dollars for the Part's and $7.00 for the shipping, Cheep Fix! 😁
      The Radio Shack Samson body on the other hand, is a complete loss.☹️
      As a result, I'll be going back to my "original" blizzard fr body for awhile 😕😂 lol I can laugh about it now, but last night I was almost in tears over it 🥺
      Almost! 😄👍 Lol
      Trail King on the other hand had absolutely no issues.😁
      Sorry for the long winded story bro 😄👍 lol
      And thanks again for your input on the Kyosho Lipo nonsense. 😊🤜🤛 🇨🇦

      😁👍 Thanks man, but I can't take all the credit, my mom paid for half of the Trail King, We went in 50/50 on it.😊
      And when it comes to being a great brother... my older brother has me beat, he got me a pretty sweet Christmas gift as well, and the Unboxing video is waiting to be uploaded,😁 but it's gonna have to wait a few days, because I've got Two other unboxing videos ready to go in front of it,😂
      I just want to wait a day or two between the uploads,
      😁👍 Nevertheless.. my Brother was a Regular Santa Claus this year. 😊
      As for the Lipo ? ; That was one of my personal questions for any advertisers who might be watching the video, 😂 Because no matter what website you go to "that has the Kyosho Trail King or Blizzard for sale" absolutely no one shows wether, or not they are Lipo compatible, 😕 So I figured that I would address the subject.😄 lol
      Thanks for your Awesome Compliments and Comments my friend, 😊👍
      And a late Happy New Year to`boot! 😁🤜🤛

      Do you have one of the Original Blizzards ? 😕
      Or possibly one of the old nitro blizzards ? 😕
      They have definitely been in production for a long A$$ time 😂👍 lol I used to Drool over them as a kid, while flipping through the old tower hobbies catalogs back in the day.😍🤤 Lol

    Hey Jim do you see any issue running a axial AE5_L and a quick run 1080 together? Or do you think it's not worth the aggravation. I have one of each (not 2 of either) did I mention I'm a cheap skate lol

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  Рік тому

      I'm cheap as heck too! 😂
      But ahh... I would make sure that both Esc's are the same type,🤔 You could probably run a AE5 and a AE5L together, but I'm not sure about running the 1080 with the AE5L,🤔 "Different output levels"
      You got two motors to power,(One for the left track & One for the right track) and you kinda want them both to have equal power.😂👍
      Got 2 Esc's, which are both being plugged into one single receiver, which is another reason to keep them both the same type,
      (Maybe ??? 👆 I'm not sure about how important it is that they both match for the receiver)😕 But in my mind's eye, I would try to keep everything balanced.
      😁👍
      You could try running two different Esc's if you wanted to of course, But you would probably be better off if they both matched up equally. 😂👍👍

    Attention; According to the The Kyosho Trail King Manual, The Kyosho Trail King is Lithium Polymer compatible.🤔
    But I was Recently made aware by another viewer, That the Kyosho Trail King's Electronic Speed Control or "ESC" is Not Equipped With A Low Voltage Cut Off,🤥
    Which means that it could Potentially Drain a Lithium Polymer battery down below it's safe level, Causing the battery to be Unrecoverable, (Meaning unable to Recharge)
    Attention; If you intend on using a Lithium Polymer battery in your Kyosho Trail King, You will also need to purchase a "Low Lipo Voltage Warning device"
    Or Simply "Lipo Alarm" to Alert you when you're Battery is getting close to it's Low Voltage Threshold.🤔
    Attention;
    Google "Lipo Alarm" to Learn More about Lithium Polymer Battery Low Voltage Alarms or Where to Purchase a Lipo Alarm.
    In closing;
    If you as a individual have a problem with your Kyosho Trail King, Please take that up with Kyosho Themselves! 🤔
    As far as this video is concerned; 😕 I merely read all of the Information that was provided in the Kyosho Trail King Manual, Along with the Product Description on the Kyosho Trail King's Packaging, Concerning using Lithium Polymer batteries in the Kyosho Trail King. 🤷
    Kyosho "Themselves" are personally at Fault for not Disclosing all the facts, Concerning using Lithium Polymer batteries with the Kyosho Trail King.🤔
    Any Problems, or Issues, Should Be Directed Towards Kyosho Directly, and Not Towards this Channel. (Kyosho is the Bad Guy in this situation)
    Sincerely; R.C.A.D.
    P.S. Special thanks to the viewer who brought this to my attention, (You Know Who You Are) And I Sincerely Appreciate your Awesome Information regarding the Kyosho Trail King's Electronic Speed Control's "Lack of a low voltage cut off" 🤔
    Greatly Appreciated my friend. 😊🙏🙏👉🏆👈

    So Jim with all your experience if you already had a trx4 with a bec and updated servo would you spend the money on a lift kit and tracks or buy a kyosho blizzard 2.0? Or are they both just to different animals to compare?

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  Рік тому

      2econd answer 😁👍
      Different animals all together, The Trx4 & the Track units combined weight, tends to be a little on the heavy side,😕 Which makes it sink like a rock in powder snow, or snow that has been compromised by afternoon sun, 🌞😂 But under "normal snow" conditions, The Trx4's equipped with tracks "especially deep lug tracks" are pretty darn formidable, And they can crawl over hard surfaced obstacles better than the blizzard as well. 😊👍
      Blizzards;
      Blizzards are very light weight, Especially if you're running the stock plastic tracks, Which are 3 inches wide, (Light weight & A big foot print = Awesome floatation) And that's exactly what they have, Awesome Floatation ! 😁
      "I've said this many times about the old blizzards,
      It doesn't matter how Soft, or Deep the snow is,😕 It could be 3 inches, or 1 mile plus of snow, And the blizzard only sinks in a minimalistic amount on the surface,🤏
      Which makes it awesome for just ripping around in the powder,😄 But... It's not very good at navigating certain obstacles "like the log bridges on the adventure course"😕 Plastic tracks, and "certain" half frozen objects, Don't necessarily get along very well,😞😂 And that's where the Trx4's really shine through,😁👍 Otherwise the Blizzards are pretty much unstoppable in deep snow,😁 There's a need for both vehicles really,😕 And I definitely love both of those vehicles 😄 Especially both of my "1-Off" vehicles, Bronco is a one of a kind UA-cam Icon, And the Kyosho Blizzard with the Midnight Pumpkin body is just sexy as hell.😍😂 lol
      Two different vehicles entirely... And I recommend both, Especially in a environment such as Maine,😄👍 Only real problem with the blizzards is, That the stock motors seem to quit working prematurely,😕 It happened to my Blizzard Fr, And it happened to my brothers Trail King too 🤔
      "One of the motors quit working within the first week or so" 😕
      Which means crossing your fingers with a replacement Kyosho 370 motor, Or upgrading to something better, Like two Traxxas Titan 18 turn 380 motors,😁 😕 But that involves some light rigging, and a specific pinion gear to accomplish,🤔 And possibly a couple of Axial AE5 Esc's on standby, just in case the stock Esc's go up in smoke,😂 In all reality though, the Axial AE5 Esc's are a good swap from the start, And they provide a much stronger acceleration out of the hole vs the Kyosho Esc's too,😁 My blizzard with the hard plastic midnight pumpkin body, is slightly heavier than my brothers Trail King, They both have the same motor and pinion gear setup, and they both run on the same type of batteries (Two Wltoys 3000mah 7.4v lipos) But my Blizzard is much faster out of the hole, vs the Trail King, And ultimately it comes down to the Esc's,😕 The Axial AE5 Esc's have more punch then the micro Kyosho p.o.s. Esc's,😁
      It's a costly little mod to swap all that stuff out, But at the end of the day it's totally worth it, It really wakes those machines up.😁👍
      Edited... Holy poop I never proof read that comment, and there was all kinds of spelling, & sentence structure errors throughout, I mean a couple of errors here or there, is tolerable for my own "self criticism" But this reply was chocked full of little F-up's,😂 And that simply won't do! 🤔😄
      Edited for F-up's 😂👍

    • @8bitisthesh1telwell74
      @8bitisthesh1telwell74 Рік тому +1

      That's funny about your bronco it's true I remember years ago telling my kid it was the baddest rig on UA-cam. Just something about it. After Christmas I think I might bite the bullet on a blizzard. I remember drooling over it in the old tower talks. Thanks for all the info

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  Рік тому

      Well... I didn't want to sound prejudice about the old Bronco, But darn it! I'm kinda like a proud parent when it comes to that truck, ha ha ha lol 😂👍 It's so... different from the rest of it's kind, That it doesn't need a Channel name sticker on the door, for people to know who's truck it is.😕😄 Ha ha ha lol 🤣
      And I suppose if Blizzards were popular on UA-cam, Then my Midnight Pumpkin Blizzard Fr, would probably be on its way up the notoriety ladder as well,😕 There's very few "one-off" Blizzards out there on the Tube,😕 One of my favorites, and most inspirational blizzards belongs to Chris From "Scale Town CWR" on UA-cam,😊 he's got a old Marui "Big Bear" pickup body on his, And it looks Sweet! 😁 Although I can't exactly give Chris all of the credit for that idea,😕 I too was one of those kids, who was turning model tanks, into monster truck tanks back in the 80's,😄 I even did the same conversion between a Matchbox mail jeep & a Hot wheels tracked troop carrier,😂 and I still have that one sitting on the side, with all of my old childhood toys, (or at least the toys that were considered "the best of the best" at the time)😕😂 Lol
      Tank Trucks! Always a Cool Combination...😉👍
      I hate to give away ideas, but lately I've been toying around with the idea of turning a blizzard into one of those Sherpa truck's, or making a Blizzard "Amphibious" 😁
      A amphibious Blizzard would be a much easier project to accomplish, vs trying to do a "homemade" Shurp conversion rig job.😂
      I seriously don't mean to sound prejudice about my RC's, 😕 I'm just one of those people, who likes having stuff that's different than the majority, "it's all about individuality"😕
      The Black Sheep of the bunch.😄👍
      Back to Blizzards; You mentioned the old tower catalogs from back in the day...😄👍 Yep.. that's where my original wanting for a blizzard began as well, "mid 80"s tower catalogs" 😊👍 and then I waited until I was in my mid 40's before I finally bought one.😂 Ha! Lol
      Yes sir I definitely recommend the blizzard for deep powder fun, There isn't any other kind of RC out there, that's better for that kind of stuff,😕 When it comes to Deep Powder, The Kyosho Blizzard is the King!
      😁👍 And the Trail Kings aren't too bad either,😂 Differences; Other than the body, The Blizzard comes with a working plow, And the Trail King comes with working head lights & tail lights,🤔 But I think out of the two vehicles, that I would rather have a Blizzard vs the Trail King, There both around the same price, But the snow plow is a more valuable item in my eyes vs led lights,🤔 LEDs are important for night time usage that's for sure, there's absolutely no definition of where your vehicle is going at night without them,😕 But those are pretty cheap and easy to rig up on your own, The snow plow on the other hand, is slightly more valuable when it comes to individual cost "buying it separately" and included items with the vehicle,😕
      (Snow plow, Snow plow link's, Snow plow link chassis mounts, Snow plow servo link, Snow plow servo link chassis mount, Along with the Snow plow servo itself) 🤔
      LEDs on the other side what do you have..? 🤔
      Led lights, and buckets on the front, & led lights, and buckets, on the back,😕 Pretty darn cheap when it comes to separately purchasing items, compared with all of the required snow plow items.😕
      Oh.. I almost forgot, There is another difference as well, But it really doesn't matter all that much if you decide to swap out the motors,😕
      Now I'm not sure if this was a Blizzard Fr specific item or not,🤔 But my Blizzard Fr came with faster 370 motors Compared to my brothers Trail King 370's,😕
      And the Trail King is based off of the Blizzard 2.0 chassis,🤔😕 So I'm not sure if they both share that same motor setup or not,😕
      or why my Blizzard Fr came with lower turn 370's compared to the Trail King,😕 Either way it's kind of a moot point, since the stock motors won't last more than a week out of the box.😂 lol
      Motors stink! Esc's are okay'ish, And it's also possible to swap out the single battery cable, for a dual battery setup running the stock Esc's as well, You can even run it on a Lipo too or dual 2s lipos "as long as you use a low voltage lipo alarm in line with the battery" the stock Esc's don't have a low voltage cut off 😕 They come with a nimh battery, but they are Lipo compatible, just no low voltage cut off on the Esc's,
      (At least with the Blizzard 2.0 & the Trail King, The Blizzard Fr, Is Not Lipo Compatible in Any Way🔥 The Blizzard Fr comes with different Esc's vs the Blizzard 2.0 & Trail King)😕
      And the Blizzard Fr costs more money too.. which is what I can't figure out, Why does it cost more money, when it's not even Lipo Compatible like the Blizzard 2.0 or T.K. ? 🤔😕
      Anyways... If you're thinking about getting one of those vehicles, I would recommend a Blizzard 2.0 or T.K. over the Blizzard Fr, just because those other two come with different Esc's vs the Blizzard Fr.😊
      Holy smokes it's 7am... And I started typing at 5am 😂
      Hoping to do a little filming today too, like within the next hour or two, we just got a little bit of fresh snow yesterday, and I've got my K10 Ascender all keyed up and ready for a run,😄 just need to throw it outside for a hour, or so to acclimate, and I'll be good to go.😁👍
      I haven't done a video for months and I've been itching to do one since I started chatting back and forth with you over the last few days,😄👍 I'll try to get it done and uploaded before Monday evening, and if I work fast enough, I might even be able to get it uploaded before this evening.😂👍
      Alright... Later bro, and I may even mention you on video. 😄🤜🤛
