- In this video I make the argument that every single coin collector and silver stacker needs to start a Type Set collection. Whether it's a US Type set or some other type set of numismatic items, it will do wonders for your collection. This video has 4 reasons to start collecting and 3 tips on how to get started

When you couldnt care less about coins, but are still literally watching and captivated because the YTer is THAT GOOD!
Putting together a type set of coins is lots of fun and will help you figure out which types of coins you like and may want to collect in more depth. Good luck with your collections!
That's also a really good point!
My Dansco Type Set album is probably my favorite one, even though it has the most holes still. I’m just excited to get to fill it!
It's the best!
Literally the only way that I am currently collecting em - the 7070! Totally agree with you on this one.
I am filling a 7070 album with coins that have the most interesting post mint damage. So I often downgrade my coins haha.
That is super interesting! I'd love to see pictures!
Lollll
I'm buying one of these. Just recently, I purchased the State quarter book to replace the giant map. Next is the America the Beautiful quarters. Great advice! Thanks for sharing!
I love the type set it is great to show people the type set because it is interesting. I sometimes just look at it before I go to bed to make my eyes tired.
Completed a Mexico type book a few years ago, still working on the add-in gold page. Started a US type right after, but no where near completing it. I usually try to get a key date coin in the best condition I can afford. It's a lot of fun.
I currently collect a dansco 7070 type set and couldn’t enjoy it more. This video has to be one of the Most true and informative videos on UA-cam about coin collecting
I definitely agree! Great video, I have learned so much since starting my dansco US type.
Good point silver picker... sounds like good advice, & its good to finally see you!
This a great price for the type set book, just a few years ago that book was going for $75+ dollars. The company stopped production for several years, and recently resumed making them.
Ya I heard something similar. I bought mine a few years ago and got it for a steal. Paid $22 at a local coin shop
He's right it's so much fun
I know what you mean about sitting for hours and staring. My world coin and American coin binders are the same way. Also, IHP are good examples of things hard to find on a budget. I was very fortunate to find my 1869 in a junk bin but it would have cost me 80 dollars otherwise
i sleep with my binder on my bed sometimes cause i open it up and go through it so much 🤣
I just finished my type set, I love it!
I started off with the Washington state set and just recently started the type set
Excellent! You enjoying it?
Wow really amazing Video about more Silvers!!! :D
And
I started to collections any types of Silvers / SilverCoin!!!
Nice!
@@Silverpicker yes is nice!!! :D
I have two books of world type sets, one is non-legal tender coins (pre-euro European coins, pre-decimal British coins and some others) and the other is modern world coins (I travel quite a bit and it’s really fun to collect one of each coin from each new country I visit). They’re satisfying to look at and flip through and my collection (which used to be spread around my room very messily) now takes up two small books on my shelf.
That's awesome. I love those kind of collections taht have sentimental value too
I wish the UK had an equivalent version of that Album 👍 love your vids, the more I watch the more I fall in love with US coinage.
I think Whitman made one back in the 1960s. Would love to see a new version! Thanks for the kind words, Barry :)
Awesome video! Learned a lot much appreciated!
Exactly, plus Type Sets can turn A nice profit after done hunting down each
Very true, Timothy. I don't plan on selling mine, though!
I have been collecting mostly modern coins. Taking mint set, proof sets and silver proof sets and putting them in dansco albums. Have full complete sets from 1965-2019, minus the last 2 W and the uncirculated S quarters that hasn't been released yet. Started on the indian head cents and mercury dimes, not complete. I also have a full complete set of the modern commemorative half dollars set from 1982-2019. I'm looking for albums for the American Inovation dollars. Saw them on Littleton's website. Need 1 for the P and D, 1 for the proofs and 1 for the Reverse proofs.
Sounds like you really know what you like to collect and have a great plan. That's awesome! Keep up the great work!
Great Video thanks for all the information! I just bought a dansco United States type set & I just posted a video to my channel of what I was able to start putting in it so far! I really like this part of collecting coins so far! I’m thinking about starting a Lincoln wheat cent album Thanks for sharing!👍🏻
Awesome! I'll take a look at your vid!
Silverpicker thank you I appreciate it
This was just a wonderful video and i think it was informative and educational
Honk if you think Silverpicker is AWESOME! This is by far the best video on starting a type set I have ever seen. I ordered my Dansco! I already have many coins to put in the book, but I think I will still have a lot of blanks and will enjoy filling them. I really enjoy your videos! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
very nice ty for sharing all this information and i will be buying one of those books through the link... thanks again
Awesome! Thanks!
I've been into numismatics for about 3 years now, and that was my approach from the begining. My policy: if I already have a coin type I don't buy it again (well, sometimes I buy some twice cause I find a bargain)
i like to typee set colect but i dint do it th way you explain but i like it.on disability so cant collect yet trying to get a job to sup incom when i do ill buy from love your vids an glade to see your face with the voice God bless
Interesting points, thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed!
Down to 4 or 5 more to finish off my 7070, one of my favorite danscos
That's awesome! What are some of your other favorite Danscos?
@@Silverpicker not sure i have over 40 lol, i just finished my 2nd 32 to 98 quarters with proofs.
@@superneo123 Oh my! That's amazing! I'll definitely check out your channel!
@@Silverpicker thanks it has been a while since i updated my albums videos, but for the most part they should be on there in a play list
Im gonna buy the intercept shield album
It is so true.! I need to make type set it is cost efficient also pennies are super cheap.
Agreed!
You've convinced me. Time for another collection.
Yes I have got to agree that is the way to start.I ,We, all want people to collect coins .The other day I helped a 60 year old collector ,start up again , ever though I sold him coins that I lost out in . He was happy. but that's the way it goes..
I have roughly 3 type sets going right now. Maybe 4. British, German, Japanese, and maybe French indo-china
Very cool. Which eras?
@@Silverpicker 20th century so 1900-1999
Very cool
@@Silverpicker at this point I'm about 12 coins away from finishing my British type set. 10 are silver and 2 are farthings
Very nice colection 👍
Excellent information
Thank you!!
I don’t have a physical Dansco album. However I am completing a virtual type set via PCGS Registry.
Very cool! So your whole set is graded?
Good information about type set. #subscribed
Love your videos!
Thanks Zachary!!
For added fun (and $$$), be on the lookout for the Dansco 7070 Gold page. Or add another half dollar page and fill it with several other commemoratives. Four slots just isn't enough.
That's actually a great idea! I might just do that!
I have a US Type Set. Nothing special yet but working to fill it. I have a few US sets I would like to finish first but I would like to start a Canadian Type set soon.
How are you going to find the dansco canada type set?
I've wanted to get one of these folders for a while.
Nice! Now's the time! Such a fun way to collect
Nice video, always interresting how people collect.
If you think you can influence friends to collecting coins, you are wrong.
To collect you must have a gen inside your system.
You like it or not. (it's not negative but the wrong thought will not do it)
I have seen it 2 times in my life after many years only 2-3 months were they interested.
If this was simple I made videos years ago.
And because you can attract the wrong people you can't make advertisements that you do it.
Like the merch you got.
You have to be lucky to get the right collectors as friends.
I got only 3 in more than 30 years and 1 moved to Norway.
Ps: It’s a lovely 😊 day
I like the Littleton Type set albums. They have holes for the draped bust coins.
Yes, I don't have one, but the quality of the albums is excellent as well
I am going to buy a Whitman 1909 - 1995 album now. It it for Lincoln Cents.
Nice. Great place to start!
I went to amazon as soon as I finish looking at you video because you sold me on doing the type set collection, and of course amazon did not have any and does not know if they'll get any. Do you know where I might find a folder like that?
It's very frustrating, but the Dansco album seems to be out of print. I'd recommend using the Littleton Coin Co. version or the Whitman version. They're not quite as good, but they are definitely better than nothing.
Hahaha I actually just ordered a US Dansco Type Set a week ago!
Fantastic! Good luck on your type set journey!
Silverpicker thanks! I’ll definitely be posting updates on mine as I start filling it up!
I'm working on my Dansco 7070 set, including gold. I'm about 90% done with the 20th century, getting proofs whenever possible. Because if you're only going to get just one type of any coin, many of the newer ones being very affordable, why not get a deep cameo proof? Then I take what I can get for the 1800s.
I hear that! For my own set I'm on the fence about whether to include proofs or not. I currently do have proofs, but they make the other coins next to them seem so drab. Sometimes I think it just doesn't fit
Almost finished completing my, War Time Nickel Type Set all PCGS graded @ MS65 with Full Steps just to start out befure I ever decide upgrading them...
Wow that's a super nice set!
How much coins slots does your type set have.
I would like to buy the type set album but your link looks like it is only for one page out of the album
In a way I have binder that is like a type set. I can't collect all coins, but I have samples of them
Vary nice sir
I wish the Dansco type set album included holes for both clad and silver coins, as well as other changes in composition. For example, I wish there were spots for 90%, 40% and clad Kennedys, copper and zinc Lincoln Memorial cents, 90% and clad Washingtons, etc. Still trying to find the best way to store/display my type set given I'm including variants which aren't in most albums.
I agree with you. However, there is a spot for silver and clad Washingtons
I have a 2 dollar bill from 1963 red note
Still waiting for mine to get here lol
I’m talking about a sports typeset ? Is that a topic for typeset?
I do this because frankly low mintage years just don’t interest me. If I have a better condition specimen that’s the one I keep, even if the other ones are key dates.
I think that makes total sense!
How can I get one similar to this one, They seemed to have stopped making them
You gotta look for them on eBay or at your Local Coin Store
I really want to do a type set with France, thinking the third republic, but I do have a good amount of coins from other periods of France. Just so hard because I don't think there are folders or albums. I don't have enough knowledge on all of the types of coins either.
Yep, that's the frustration. I'd like to do other sets but I also want an album ready to go for it
@@Silverpicker Maybe a company will make them for us in the future. It really surprises me that there already isn't one. Maybe you should start one? 😂
Is there a certain name for a collector who's aim is to get all dates and mints marks of each denomination?
(I am one of those people)
Hardcore lol
I’m a newbie but I am an ex athlete .Do you think there are a lot of coins that are sports oriented as Olympics may be ?
There are tons! In fact, I am posting a video tomorrow that will have at least one US Olympic silver coin. If after you see it you're interested in buying it, let me know!
Bro if you go with UK coins, our 50ps have like 100 different commemorative designs...including a 29 olympic 50ps of each sport...commonwealth games and the new 2020 olympic 50p..which is skyrocketing cus its mint mark is 2020 but the Olympics have been delayed due to covid19.
Hey I have a chanle to it's cool also nice video
Is there a Canadian type set
There is, but they're hard to find. I really want one!
Early
I would like to send some coins to you that I have found in coins rolls. What I look for are era in the newer coinage. There is a lot more out then poeple relies. Waa-pang
That's awesome! Thank you!
I have all state quarters uncirculated
Nice! What's next?

I am truly interested in everything you are but, I need help and guidance. I know you're a busy person but, I would love your help and guidance PLEASE. THANKS Ron D
Happy to help, shoot me an email at thesilverpicker@gmail.com
I’ve always wanted to start one, now you just convinced me to! Enjoyed your video 👍
Nice video man. I enjoy your videos keep them coming.
Reminds me how in the stamp collecting world,We have collectors who collect certain topics like Cars,Dogs, and
Holstein Cows that face left
Sounds boring the goal should be buy someone else’s stamp or silver coin collection from an estate sale and get it the hell out of your house and get the cash and buy something else.
Key dates in mind because if the silver price climbs up high like 50 bucks an ounce almost all that stuff is not worth more then scrap silver price anyway.
Type set for noobers
I actually disagree with you when it comes to buying a low grade coin then upgrading later. It's much more economical to purchase a coin that is a high enough grade that you would be satisfied not upgrading later.
Im gonna buy the intercept shield album
