Today, its easier to get coins to fill those albums, than it is to order Dansco albums......
I have Danscos, Whitmans and Littletons from over the years and I love them all. When I see them at yard sales and flea markets, I snap them up. Trying to "complete a book" was what got me started in this hobby.
I for one love Dansco Albums. Completing a Dansco full of coins has to be one of the most satisfying parts of the hobby. I just recently filled the last hole in my Type coin set 7070 album with the purchase of the Capped Bust 1/2 dime. What a fantastic journey. I learned so much.
I didn't know Dansco albums were out of production.
Glad I got my type set album some years back.
Took me literally 3 years to get just a type set album from them.. crazy what supply and demand can do
Dansco is back to making new and some old albums!
Dansco moved their production from NY to Washington State. Then in 2021 they started up limited production, but then the NEW facility got flooded out. It will be a long time before they get back into full production again.
WOW, insane!
Love the albums you got with all your coins in them.
Good to know, I usually ignore the empty albums at auctions.
The rarer and most popular Dansco’s have definitely become quite collectible since Dansco stopped producing new ones. I always snag them if they’re at a good price. Thanks for sharing Daniel. 🙂👍👍
Thanks for sharing… I scored 2 years ago and picked up a 7070 type set book for under $60. They go for double that usually. I spent the next two years filling it. I already had many of the coins in my collection but made a few upgrades and additions. (Fun Show was a big help). It is now my prized possession. I am now looking for a complete Peace and ASE books.
Good Morning Daniel!☕ Unfortunately, there are a couple of the old ones that I need!😟
Good morning Daniel. That is just amazing to see all those Dansco albums in one collection like that. That would be my dream collection. Dansco is mainly what I use and they're definitely becoming harder to find and more expensive. I did not know the early type albums were worth that amount. Thank you for the heads up my friend!
Beautiful Daniel!! Thank you!!
I only have two Walking Liberty Half Dansco Albums. One filled, (except the Key Dates are Graded), and one half filled. The rest of my raw coin Collection is in Littleton Folders, (and they are good).
Thank you Daniel good to know. Stay well brother.
I'd like a collection display system for my collection display system collection (and so on).
I didn't know they're actually worth money now! In the mid 90s a coworker and I bought a huge set of used Dansco albums and we split them. I think we spent like $100 for around 25 albums. Unfortunately for me he took the more obscured ones and I took the more common ones. I tried to use them but I didn't like them. It's too hard to get the coins in there. Now I'm not too sure about the plastic they used back then harming your coins. I still keep my collection in tubes and flips.
Thanks Daniel ! I didnt read the entire subject line but when you first started speaking..I thought well shoot the albums are worth a ton of money themselves ! lol You need to buy out Dansco and go into business making those ! Or somebody !
After I tackled the task of removing a slide from a 40-year old Dansco album, and only succeeding after inflicting damage on the book, I've sworn off the brand. I'll stick with the half dozen I have, and buy new albums from the majority of providers who have figured out how to make it easier to remove slides.
I am very aware of the value of some of these albums because I am interested in Mexican coins. Thankfully there is a guy on IG and eBay that makes his own custom albums for Mexico coins but it’s extremely limited. There are a couple of dealers of Mexican coins that I’ve talked to that are trying to source some affordable solutions for albums but nothing has come of it yet.
Another Good Tip from " honest DAN " - IF HE IS HELPING U /remember HIM when bUYING he IS ONE OF THE greats!
KANGAROO Dave >✌
first, we had the label craze now dansco albums? where is this hobby going daniel?
I thought the value came from the magic ability for danscos to add some toning color to the coins you put in um.
Interesting 🤔
I did not know that. I switched to Cap albums. Hmmm gonna have to Sell. Thanks!!!!
wow.
Hello Daniel, I have both the Dansco & Whitman albums? Witch Albums are better? Take Care.
I know I'm late in posting my "two cents" here....but here it is, (Lol)....While I don’t want to sound like a pessimist, but I have to say that despite the Dansco albums being proudly American-made and commented in general for their quality, Dansco unfortunately still is like some other companies that do the same thing with poor planning on how to make pages for the amount of coins that just have these empty slots at the end. The fact that Dansco doesn’t space the slots in such a way that there is no empty spaces when the coin’s series ends at the end tells me that it is more about quantity over than quality for the “extra money” being spent on these albums, as I’ve noticed that they’re priced apparently higher than the other coin albums on the market. The extra unnecessary slot holes in the page after the end of the coin’s series run annoys me. It would also be helpful like those little slots at the edge of the pages so you can get the slides out with a grip of a finger and thumb too.
Actually didn't care what they cost, just thought it would be nice to have especially if I could fill it up. A few years back i seen them at sd but didn't have the money and then of course out of stock. Maybe hopefully someday!
What is the deal with Dansco? Seems they didn't survive Covid? Although not perfect, they are better than Whitman or Littleton. What do the professional dealers say at the coin shows? Will someone restart Dansco?
I'd be afraid to look in those albums because it will be slide mark city in there. Mercury MS67s turned into 63s, etc. I've still got coins I put in Dansco albums as a kid, and many have slide marks, but luckily none were expensive.
Hiiii : I have a US cent in the year 1995 error AM and 1941 and 1999 error AM and 1979 D error AM in which there is an error in the minting, and I have US cents for some old dates
MECCA!!!
Thanks for ruining my hustle buddy!
