Great video and nice playing. Did I see some DADGAD playing? You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the combination of the spruce's brightness and the mahogany's warmth. Don't forget Jimmy Page played one of these, most notably on "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You". When I heard that, I had to have one! You're a living treasure!
I have a 2020 j-45 I bought new. I love the shorter scale length. It is more comfortable than the longer scale length of my hd-28 or d-35 martins. It has become my main giging guitar since I bought it. The action was better off the rack than the martins. I had to have a setup on both martins to get them where I wanted. Now I really enjoy playing either. They all are different in their own way. I think martin has really hit the nail on the head with the new super D to complete with the Gibson j-200. Geat picking also.
Love the J45 50's as I have that same guitar. But I simply do not care for the pickups. Just kills the tone of the guitar and its dynamic range. Much prefer to mic the J45 as well as any acoustic if that is an option
Imagine how much better new J-45s would sound if Gibson stopped smothering them in that awful lacquer they use! I stripped the neck and body of my 2005 Historic Series and refinished with OSMO, and the guitar is finally amazing.
Gibson = yawn 🥱 no one really wants or plays Gibson anymore a fact. only ones are executives that use them as wall art..Epiphones are the go to guitars now so get use to it and over it
@@O_Towne_Bear they play the same 3 chord song? Its either japanese or custom made says a lot on the skill level as working musician atleast from where i am. Gibson are cringey.
Gibson’s values are rooted in their history. As a brand, that’s what’s important to them, which is fine. Their choice to avoid too much innovation is a decision they make to maintain tradition and stay true to what made them what they are today. It won’t garner too many new fans but it will retain long time fans. That’s what they want, let them do what they want. The industry is still better with them involved.
Another informative vid and, as always, really enjoy your playing. Thanks, Megan.

The Martin D-28 and Gibson J45 are the most iconic acoustic guitars ever.

As usual, Meg, well done. Love the J-45!
Great history video!!! Absolutely love these slope shoulders. ❤🔥 I play the Epiphone J-15 EC NA and it's my favorite acoustic 🙌

D28 is my pick. Longer scale length. Higher pressure on the top. It pushes more volume. It is the tone Imprefer.
Wonderful!

How much j55?
I have a cherry blend j45 adjustable bride , do you know what year it was built? 12:59 12:59 how can I send you a picture of my guitar?
The best acoustic guitar of all time👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That piezo pickup sound was atrocious. Don´t understand why they put those on professional guitars. It never sounds good.
What would you recommend as an alternative?

Still love me a Gibson so...
Edit: Actually, most of my friends are Gibson fans/players. All working musicians (not suits).

@@qwerty6789x American made and blues rock. Easy on the snobbery.
A lot of country players do. I have owned a couple Martins but prefer my Yamaha.
