  • Meg checks out the awesome Gibson J45 and Epiphone J45 taking a look at the main differences between the two. Live from Gibson HQ in London with a stage full of beautiful Gibson and Epiphone acoustics, we put them all to the test!
How much does the price point affect the build quality and overall sound of the guitar?! Gibson are known for their premium quality and high end shine, but can the Epiphone come anywhere closs to this.
Although the specs do vary across the ranges, the formula for the J45 has remained the same throughout the years. When you've got something that right why would you need to change it? With the spruce top and mahogany back and sides featuring across all these models.
Meg highlights the various slight tweaks that appeared over the years. The 1950s model with its 50s rounded neck, the 60s model with a slightly less rounded 60s neck, not to mention those iconic vintage Gibson pickguards!
Theres something to love in all of these models and if you've wondered how to Inspired by Gibson model holds up against the real thing we put it to a live test.

I've played a few of the newer j-50s with the adj bridge and they've all blown me away, they sound so rich and boomy, that traditional Gibson tone. And I love that red wine finish against the white pickguard.

I'm a fan of the J-45 and also a fan of Meg. Her guitar playing and commentaries are perfect.
I got the IBG J-45 slash Vermillion model. I got the IBG J-200, the Epiphone, Frontier and Texan.
My next stop will probably be my first Gibson acoustic: I might settle for a Rosewood J-45 back and side.
    Living the dream.

The Gibson has such a warm tone. That red finish offset with the white scratch guard is beautiful. As always, love the playing. Thank you, Megan.

Don’t mean to be a troll, but the guitar she started with was a J-50, not a J-45.
Also J-45’s took off in the 1940’s.
Thank you for the review 👌

The IBG J-45 is a tremendous acoustic guitar. For £2000 less than the Gibson it's remarkably good value for money too.

I really wanted a J-45 and played a few @ Eldery Instruments. Lovely guitars, but I wound up buying a Martin HD-28. The 60's J50 in this video is pretty, but Gibson needs to abandon that awful adjustable saddle. It was a bad idea then, and still is. I wish they would stop repeating bad design elements, even in the reissues.

      @shred5 Рік тому +1

If you watch reviews from people staring their old Gibson is the best sounding guitar they have, you’ll see most people had a new bridge with a fixed saddle installed too and for a food reason.
The HD-28 is my favorite Martin (most versatile between picking hard and soft) so you did well

Excuse me,can you tell me why the design of adjustable saddle is awful? thanks

@@312classbefore It's a tone killer, and the mounting bushings in the top of the guitar can cause top cracks.

I would think of the j-45 as being sunburst not natural finish

Got my Epiphone Inspired by Gibson J45 from you guys 10 days ago nice tone atrocious set up and a scratch on the headstock plus a mark on the fingerboard where someone had inserted a pick between the strings, thought I bought a new guitar this one is evidently used and is going to require additional work and cost to sort the action out which is too high on the side of the 6E, lesson learned the you guy should only be trusted in supplying new strings as they come in a sealed packet certainly won’t be buying any products over the value of £20 ever again should of realised this having spent money on a couple of expensive marshalls some 15 years ago because they had cosmetic damage too and they were sold as new. Again from you.

They don’t give a monkeys about selling low quality expensive used instruments and saying they are new, 1st and last guitar I’m buying from PMT just like the amps i’ve had in the past from them not exactly new but paying full price because they mislead the consumer, getting the J45 setup and made playable tomorrow but will visit a reputable store next time not one with a bad as a reputation as yours.

I've always felt the J-45 is Gibson's acoustic equivalent to their Les Paul. It's tone fits in easily with any style of music.

Honestly the J45 has never been my favorite guitar for any style but they can be picked hard or soft and work as well for lead as well as rhythm. They also record well. So that is a food way to put it
